Mildred was so beautifully dressed and made up in every single episode. A joy to watch. Love the series. As a young lad I used to watch this and still do when I have time.
Oh my gosh ,you have no idea how much happiness this series you've uploaded has brought me,I've been so down losing my beautiful sister and my mum before that but watching these has taken me back to happier times of my life. You cannot beat the comedies from the 70s and 80s. Everything is so politically correct now, comedy written like these are quite often based on real life characters that's why we can laugh at them, a huge thank you 🙏🤣😂🤣
@@michellefalleur960 as someone who was fortunate to live 8 years there .i can say yes we are Blessed with you lot..good humour no drama no karens .♥️🇬🇧
I was born in Hawaii, but raised my whole life (and still reside) in the US, in "The City of Brotherly Love", Philadelphia. We were BLESSED with one of the finest examples of Public Broadcasting stations, WHYY, channel 12. So many classic examples of British television were ran in syndication back in the late 80's, right through the turn of the millennium. Growing up in a family that always struggled financially, we never could afford cable, but luckily I was spoiled with some of Britain's funniest examples of comedy. All I watched growing up (with the exception of Japan-imation) was great programs like 'Are You Being Served?', 'Keeping Up Appearances', 'Vicar of Dibley', 'Mr. Bean', 'Jam & Jerusalem', ' Absolutely Fabulous' and many more. Further blessed by the birth and growth of the internet, I can now experience other master works of British TV, like 'Hi-de-hi!', 'Dad's Army', 'Let Them Eat Cake', 'Misfits', and yes, this hidden gem, 'George and Mildred'. I concur entirely, Europe in general (but Britain especially) just GET timing, edginess and double entendre like America WISHES we could. Thank you, BBC, for sheltering me from the cruel world as a child, and even saving me from myself at times. Laughter truly IS the best medicine 🤙🏽🌺 Aloha to you! -BPX
Just found this old UK show. I've never heard of it before. I have seen the others, One foot in the grave, Are you being served, Mulberry, ect. This one fell under my radar. A true gem of a show!
Same with me. Big fan of British comedy from this era, but I also never heard of this before. I’ve been enjoying for a few weeks now. I’m glad this was uploaded. It’s quite a funny show!
What's so funny about this is you DID get couples like this back then. My great Aunt and Uncle hated one another, he was just like George, ignorant, scruffy, hated company and showed no interest in her, she was the opposite. When we used to visit he would say "oh hello" then go straight to the pub! The best was when they 'celebrated' their 30th wedding anniversary and he booked a fishing trip so he wouldn't be there! She tried to attack him with a rolling pin😂 They mellowed as they got older and actually died within weeks of each other in a nursing home.
I remember some of these episodes as a kid but have never seen all of the series 1 to 5 in their entirety. Thanks . They actually make me laugh Really enjoying these.
I was passing one of our telephones and thought I would give you a tinkle..how sisterly and funny & marriage is like dandruff . You brush it but it comes back again. This old series is funny & realistic. Thanks for uploading & the picture & sound is clear
They were characters in "Man About the House" (George was the landlord). They were then given their own series "George & Mildred". Later there was a crappy American spin-off called "The Ropers" with an all different cast.
@@bobrew461 Yes, and there were plenty of social problems back then also, always makes me laugh when others think it was so much better 'back in the day'. But there was an innocence about most British sitcoms back then, the completely unrealistic innocence on display, that's what was funny about them, however the likes of Ben Elton was just around the corner, to drag us into the comedy of the late 20th century 😂👍
Youtha once said in an interview that she hated that wig and the clothes she was wearing in this show. Surprised me, because I always thought she looked absolutely immaculate.

At 46.10. ''And when he starts banging at the back door at 2 o'clock in the morning'', as he holds her close in his arms! Haha. And her reply confirms it was meant for me. And then he suggests an early night... With these older sit coms its really hard to tell if these little sayings are meant in that sexual comedic way as around that time it was a bit of a thing. You can also always tell that the audience are not sure either! Great series from a great bunch of comedic actors. As most will say, when telly was really great and everyone laughed at each other and enjoyed the humour.
