AudioHeaven They should've kept & just update infotainment system to make it work with the touchscreen & the MMI controller so you could do either since the controller is better for the driver while they're driving & the touchscreen is better for a passenger

Everyone's following tesla's strategy of cost cutting by simplifying production by removing knobs and buttons and having software buttons instead. They then market it as "better minimalistic tech" and people gobble it up despite it being less ergonomic!

@@ApeWatchingTV except BMW. They have touch and controller still, except they don't have Android Auto. Mercedes has dropped the rotating controller and replaced it with a touch pad and touch screen. I would love if Audi updated the A3 and A4 with larger infotainment screens with or without touch, though I'd prefer with, and with the new MMI software, but kept the screen and control layout.

@@michelemariotti8198 Why? If you use a scroll wheel and I have in previous Beemers and Audi's, you still have to look at a screen while you are scrolling. The Audi has so many of its key features available from the steering wheel control and displayed Within the excellent virtual dash. I use the system in the A6 and switch off Haptic control. I have the menu set up with my most used and favourite apps. Its now quicker touch screen than my smart phone and I instinctively know where to touch . The voice command I use for the air-con etc is excellent too. IF this Luddite stuff is in anyway true WTF are we fawning over the giant tablet in a Tesla. In my experience you get used to the UI in no time and in the real world rarely use the big touch screen once you have you system set up the way you like it.

It's like they curved it just ever so slightly, so it has a little bit more of an organic look. I guess it makes sense as the past years has been all about making cars as agressive as possible, so naturally trends tend to go opposite. Mazda's managed to make a great mix in between the two for their fronts though, where as Audi has always been a bit more angry. The lights also looks a little more executive and a little less "I want to eat you". Great looking car though, although I would prefer the S5/7 my self.

@@auton3035 Yeah that is stretching it a bitttttttttttttttttttt more like limited to 155 but even if they offer limiter defeat, it will probably be around the 160-170 absolute max. Audi notoriously under rate their acceleration figures, even so a 0-62 time will be more realistically around 4.4 sec. I would add that its not dumb to make a S4 TDI as it is a cleaner choice than the petrol. Diesel gets a bad rap mostly through ignorant media commentators and even more ignorant meddling politicians, made worse by VAG ridiculously stupid and unnecessary attempt to manipulate US regulators Via diesel gate. Euro 6 Diesels are cleaner than the equivalent Petrol Units now and will get even better in the next few years. They still have an important role to play as we transition to electric and Hydrogen fuel cells. The V6 TDI torque this thing offers in the A4 will give the car huge all around performance, different from a Petrol motor yes but really nice to have all that torque deployed in real world conditions. I suspect the face-lifted A4 will look better in real life and as Audi's tend to age better than Beemers and Mercs it will settle in well and sell well. Lets just look back at how much stick the model had when it first hit the road..Bland, Boring, Samey etc... that soon fell away as the haters got on with their sad lives and to hating something else.

This is not against Merc but to confirm your opinion about early conclusions.

Terry xfiles Mercs are a good example of monotone and lazy design. A good example is the C, E, and S Class. Literally look the same, except the head- and taillights. There are other examples, but I won’t dwell on them now. So yeah, very innovative I must say...
