ULC: The problems with Dull Knifes 3rd life, and how to fix them.

- This is a rework suggestion for the 3rd life of dull knife since it feels rushed and completely different from the rest of the lives

I want to clarify that at 6:06 the defense decrease only applies if you are moving, while the speed decrease only applies if you are standing still
For those who saw the thumbnail, my intention is not to buff the 3rd life and I am sorry if I gave you that idea, my goal is to make it so players stop relying on Manic and make all 3 of the emotions equal as life 1 and 2 already perform very well.
My goal is to replace red hands with an actually fair move that isn’t just deal 20 stamina
Alright so Ian seems to have seen some things from my video or at least some stuff from the discord and made some dull knife changes, I’ll get back to you to see what those are like when they get added

This is recently, but a guy said to me don't use dull knife against outer ruins due to their blasters just deleting health and since dull knife no longer has those phase transitions it would just delete them, it really depends if the dull knife can dodge, it's one of my favorite weapons to use but also could be pretty stupid for the choices i make
overall some very good and very needed changes to dull knife, well done tem :)

true, the 3rd life just dies so quickly and can become completely useless depending on the situation. just delaying your death.
For Example as an Ts! DustSwap main they die like fly's as soon as they loose the First live.
The third life has potential to out last the first 2 due to miserable and also out dps them, the only issue is the moveset it has

Yeah, as a Dull Knife main/user, I can confirm that it has MAJOR issues. Probably would have been better to just tweak the old version in my opinion.
I do think life 3 as potential its just that they strayed way too far from the first 2 lives

Angry takes far more damage
Happy does far less damage
Sad is far slower than sans
@@temmie0119Considering a majority of the characters in this game are dodge based, attack speed seems like the most viable option.
Dull Knife is the whole reason I started to main characters like DustSwap, who have dodges and HP.
the thing is that happy and ecstatic are supposed to deal less stamina and damage in exchange for the faster attack speed, if it just swings faster then it invalidates the purpose of angry, which does both more stamina and damage in exchange for also taking more damage
When I go use full knife my first 2 life’s normally go pretty well since they can somewhat balance eachother out and all have useful skills
On my third life, I just die and idk what to do

If dull got removed a lot of times and got reworked like this i was a bit on old ulc but i didn't play that Much ulc back then but how was old dull that Made it get removed so many times

Dull knife life 3 is either you win with the tickle hands or die instantly

also the new blaster in the fully charged stage ain't doing any damage which is just dumb.

My idea for stare:
You stand still, if you faced to sans, it stats goes down, but if he stared back, the rate increased, it lasts for 2secs, but can be cancelled, free but cd is pain.
Total is same numbers, but it lasts more for being somewhat easy to miss and being unable to deal full debuff, also it starts fading after a sec, so the whole thing lasts for only 6 secs.
But also, to not be a living annoyance, the hp (all phases) should be reduced.
Honestly i prefer it like now, imagine the dull knife right now its really anoying, they have 3 lives and op skills and its really good for rush, all that for an weapon that isn't even hard to get, also their phases dont even give exp who its kinda annoying for any player that its farming exp
I can feel the people who is going to take it the wrong way coming, change the farming to grinding because people tend to think when you say farming is teaming which isn't allowed
But they do give exp
Life 1 gives 10
Life 2 gives 10
Life 3 gives 20

I think the main thing that discourages people about dull knife is the 3 lives, because the thing that truly is scary about knife often isn’t utilized by players with less skill, something to remember is don’t bother targeting them if they are yellow or blue if there are other players on you as they can’t really do much to you, if they are red, hard target them as they will die faster than an empty soul

Make Dull knife user instantly respawn after killed like DT user. They're skipping Any fucking box attack that's the most annoying adventage they had
Dull knife criticizer here, ever since dull knife got released once again, the users have been nothing but a pain in the ass. While, I've somewhat got used to them, my main problem is how they give only 10 exp for their first 2 lives, I'm trying to grind some exp here and this is the issue I'm having to deal with, it's beyond frustrating.
Now, I do agree that all emotions should all be balanced with each other, and not one emotion being stronger than the other. That's totally fine with me, but complaining about dieing too quickly on the 3 life, and having the emotions more buffed than necessary, is asking for too much now.
Buffing the dull knife even more will just make it so it outclasses some weapons out right, I mean, what's the point of other weapons if this the dull knife is your "win weapon maker", am I right?
Now, I don't mean to be rude here, but, try other weapons instead of dull knife because it's so "different". I get it, you enjoy using the weapon, some do it because it's their "win" weapon, a weapon easy to use to win to get their dopamine rush because losing is just not good enough.
Now, I've used dull knife and I get the appeal, but switch it up once and awhile, it ain't always about winning and trying to be the "best", the most ever fun I get out of this game is chatting with other people.
What I'm trying to say is, the dull knife doesn't need more buffs, you already have 3rd life, and emotions, a rebalance is fine, but your video cleary states it so that the dull knife will just get a buff overall.
Also, just saying "cope", or "get better" is toxic in all ways possible, please read this carefully.

Never complained it died too quickly, I simply was saying manic overpowered the other ones and some ability changes should be made it to keep all 3 of them inline
The weapon I use personally is Ballet Shoe
I’ve seen people get killed numerous times using this weapon, often people who bum rush with angry will get shot and killed, people who only use sad won’t contribute, people who use happy are useless till life 3, the skill behind the weapon comes from those who can actually manage to use all 3, so all in all this doesn’t really buff dull knife, it just makes the third life less of a “only use manic and win the game” weapon
What I don’t agree with here is saying dull knife is the “win weapon” ive seen players perform much better and also way easier using things such as cleaver or real knife. Both of which I feel are a lot easier to use than dull knife. For comparison hitting red hands does the same damage as hitting someone with armless cleaver twice
Again I wanted to state that my intention isn’t to buff dull knife, it’s to encourage less dependency on manic making it harder to play but more rewarding to pull off, as it is with life 1 and 2, because a weapon being the best in the game or the win button would imply it has the best dps, but it doesn’t, in fact it plays between 3 balanced roles of a debuffer/gap closer, a support, and a dps each with their own trade offs, 3rd life throws that out the window and turns the debuffer into not even a debuffer anymore and just an outright dps gap closer while furious just becomes the “change into this to die” emotion.

@@Thatonefriendlycatwhile I was recording the video I had someone complaining that furious doing 210 damage was really stupid, I claimed it only does so because it has an effective 45 hp due to its defense decrease. He of course did not care, the very next match a boy went furious I hit him once and he died on the spot. This is the thing I like about dull knife, it is strong but everything has a trade off

You have manic to get close for a reason. But yes, it is problematic.
The only issue is that once you swap out, you have a startup on red hands, not to mention how it costs 50 to make the attempt, and at BEST you will get 1 to 2 hits in
Again using Miserable on its own is totally fine as it’s very strong, the issue comes when you try to use red hands
The maniac mode is to garbage to the point of can't kill a afk sans
I see no problems with dull knife seeing how if more than 2 people are using dull knife it can go 2 ways.
First Way: You get bombed by red hands
Last Way: you bomb them due to them only having 60 max hp
That was always the issue I had, see if you try to use red hands with any other emotion it’s actually decently hard to get all the hits in, with manic you just run up, outspeed them, and then deal 20 stamina and get 65 juice back

Hello, Dull Knide enthusiast/main here.
MANIC outshines literally everything expect for maybe MISERABLE.
I have nearly never seen myself using MISERABLE/FURIOUS red hands EVER, however i often go for SUFFOCATE because of it being pretty fast and being the near ONLY good reliable projectile on dull knife.
CRIPPLE sucks outright, having such a bad hitbox for such a long endlag causes you to get murdered in SECONDS.
Honestly, I think Ian while desinging the rework used PHOBIA attacks from the original OMORI game as a source, which is why its such a clumsy mess at Life 3.
Honestly the phobia attacks i thought were realtively fine, the issue is they didnt fit inline with the previous lives and what they tried to do, why is red hands a self heal when it was a group heal before? why am i paying 50 to heal 5 more than some thing that was free? Cripple not doing extra damage to stamina was a huge misplay as the fact cripple disables jump is really nice.
I agree with miserable being useful due to its defense, and suffocate does have some uses but honestly it pales in comparison to shun as a projectile which is just depressing
I also think cripples endlag could offset the risk if they made hitting it more worthwhile, by making it add bleed and cover the screen

@@olgacuervo4305 Not exactly, Dull Knife has just fallen into a dilemma of being both good for complex weapons that takes time to use to it's fullest potential but also be too easy for bad players to abuse

My intention is not to buff it, it is to make people stop relying on manic by making all 3 emotions equal but also not removing the previous setups as currently the best abilities tier list goes
1. Life 1 (The most versatile one)
2. Life 2 (The most durable one)
3. Life 3 (The one you use manic in)
For example removing red hands means you can’t just spam the 20 stamina attack and get all your juice back anymore

I don't care about making dull knife better, for me they can nerf it to the ground all they like, this stupid item made me start using horror as my main, and i hate it.
The number one thing that helped me kill dull knifes is to remember their stages, don’t bother hitting them when they are yellow if there are other targets because their dps is so minimal they are the lowest priority
If they turn red you should target them instantly as they will die extremely quickly
If they are blue don’t bother hitting them, they’ll lose juice just from attack on other people and they will be far to slow to catch you
The main reason people hate it is because of the 3 lives, don’t be fooled by this, the total of their hp is not much higher than an average dt
Always remember that they will run out of juice eventually, when that happens they are sitting ducks, they either have to go happy and do near 0 damage, or calm down and leave themself open
@@temmie0119some certain character make any emotion dull knife not matter anymore, example is neutral via high dmg and lot of phase (he can wipe every dull knife if play it right), phase 2 is like final chance to finish player or die from 5-6 hit

my only comment is that i HATE the dull knife for the reason its just too powerful and unfun to fight. and i cant blame people for using it, it is a fun weapon to use, but killing people for 10 xp a life is pathetic, and needs to be 20 per kill at least, and standardizing health to be 60 each life would even it out with other weapons max HP totals. yes, i am VERY salty.
would be cool if they somehow made maximum of 4 skills and you would need wins to equip better skills

I’m ngl I hate dull knife mains, I can kill a dull knife the only part that pees me off is the fact you only get 20 EXP for 3 LIVES. like I am not wasting half my life on killing some bot who just tanks attacks for 20 exp. It’s the Chara combo from UJD infecting games. (Also ppl who are skilled with dull knife, pls don’t hurt me)
