The marriage joke is a reference to the original Dragon Ball, where Goku as a kid agreed to marry Chi-Chi, but only did so because he thought marriage was some sort of food. Also, it was 19 who turned Gero into an Android. And they say that the reason 19 and 20 are so much weaker than 17 and 18 is that Gero went back to an older design/system after 17 and 18 nearly killed him.
that "what is that, some kind of food?" line is actually from the original dragon ball series where chi chi asks Goku to marry her and says the same thing.
DBZ seems to follow the multiverse theory, in which if Trunks goes to the past, it's actually an parallel universe, so the changes he makes there does not affect his own timeline.
@@matthewchristian9591 technically he didn't go to another universe. Trunk's actions created a temporal shift which resulted in a new timeline. Also all of this is just theory, answers vary depending on who you are talking too.
I'm sure someone has already explained this to you guys, but just in case no one has: Future Trunks is not just the one from the future. He's the Trunks from the future of a different dimension. Since he's not the future Trunks of the dimension we're watching, he can interact with baby Trunks and later Kid Trunks without risking creating a dimenension-ending singularity.
This is the episode most of the "Vegeta's a better dad than Goku" people love to forget about. He literally let his son and...son's mother, die without even caring. Ah, but since later on he starts caring more and stays at Capsule Corp all the time (due to the Gravity Room and no other reason, anyone who insists Vegeta would still stay at home all the time if the Gravity Room wasn't there, is just kidding himself) then he's a better father than Goku, who's only real fault as a father is that he's often away, and 90% of the time its because he's dead due to sacrificing himself to save said family, and not wanting to put them in further danger. But other than that, he's a far more caring and understanding father. Seriously, I enjoy TFS's comedy as much as everyone, and the joke about Goku's fatherhood is really funny, but it often annoys me that some people (even those who've actually watched the show before TFS) actually take it too seriously.
I thought Goku was a bad father and a extremly bad husband when I was a teenager and of course TFS did'nt exist. In fact, I remember that shocked me this kind of example on the main hero. For me, a good father spend time with his son, and "bring the child to your work" is not really spend time with your son. But hey, it's just my point of view, all I wanna say is the "Goku's controversial parenthood" is not just a TFS joke. One of the best things on their work is that they respect the main characters. They invent a lot of things about secondary characters, but the main ones are just exaggerattions of their real versions.
First off, (spoilers in case Spazboys are rading the comments): The reasoning you gave is basically what I mentioned. Goku does spend time with his son, in fact, almost every time he isn't dead he's spending time with his son. And when he's dead, its normally due to sacrificing his life to save said son, and everyone else. This of course brings the always happily ignored contradiction that by not doing what people consider his "bad parenting", Gohan (and everyone else) would die, and not have a future. So "perfect parent" Goku = Dead Gohan and Chichi. But who cares about that right? It only matters if he's there. Vegeta has a rich wife that allows him to get the best training on his back yard right next to his son, so he's a better parent. Also, Goku only ever "brought Gohan to his work" on the Cell saga, and it only was because he honest-to-god thought Gohan enjoyed fighting as much as he did. Once Piccolo told him he didn't, Goku immediately told Gohan to tag out so he'd take care of things. So that isn't really the best example you can use. While TFS does a brilliant work and respects the core aspects of the characters, no one can deny they also blow some traits out of proportion far beyond the scope of the show (which is understandable due to it being a comedy series), which you can't pass as being "true" to the real character.
Well first, I don't think Vegeta is a good father at all, but he is another topic! On the other hand, you are right about traits out of proportion and of course, if u have to choose between save your son (and the universe!) or spend a few days with he until everybody dies, the choice is pretty obvius. But Goku's decisions after Freeza or after Cell... really? That was hard... (think about wishes to Shenron). Moreover, have a child (or get married) is a personal decision. If you know you want to work out of your home for several years, if you know you love that lifestyle and that when you get a chance you'll go to work out, maybe have a child is not your best choice. At least, is not the best work-life concilation example :)
Jack Jaques while I do agree that for most of the series the only thing keeping Vegeta at Capsule Corp is the gravity chamber... but it DOES beg the question... where would he go other then that.... now I actually want to know the answer to that XD
A series I've seen no one parody yet is The Ping Pong Club. It's an oldie but I can imagine you will have fun with its twisted humor...kinda like a demented love child of Monty Python's Flying Circus, South Park, and Beavis and Butthead. Keep up the awesome work!
Time travel in this isn't just travelling back in time, it's going to another dimension. Trunks can't affect his present, but he can alter another dimension. Also, for abridged- JoJos bizzare adventure. There is a series already, but it's only got a few episodes.
That part where vegeta asked if marriage was some kind of food is a reference to the original dragon ball where goku thought that exact same thing. It's so subtle and so clever.
The reason Vegeta said is marriage a food, is because Goku in the original Dragon Ball thought marriage was a type of food when Chichi asked to marry him
Marriage being a food is a reference to the original Dragon Ball, not Z, where Goku fought a fighter named Anonymous, Anonymous revealed herself as Chi-Chi, and told Goku of the promise they made to be married when they were kids. Goku admits that he thought marriage was some kind of food, but then says that now he understands, and in an ironic reversal for that time period, the man says yes to the woman's proposal.
Sooo... Time for info? When Vegeta asked what marriage was, tfs were actually making a refernce to the original Dragonball series, where Goku said that he thought that a marriage was some kind of food, which was why he agreed to marry Chi-Chi. He still married her afterwards, so.... And you know when Android 17 said "Howdy folks, I'm Android 13! Look at my trucker hat!" That was a reference to the movie Super Android 13, which TFS has abridged! Looking forward to that one! Though, there are other movies to watch first.
Ok, so the thing with trunks. It has been shown that the Dragon Ball Universe operates on multiverse theory. The trunks of the future is a different trunks than the baby. Even if trunks hadn't come back, things still would have been different because Cell came to the timeline a year before trunks. So the main timeline, trunks timeline and cells timeline are all different
I get where you are coming from about this show, I'm almost 50 myself and most comedy I see is about as funny as my last tax return. DBZA however, cracks me up even though I've seen it all already.
Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi is the best one that comes to mind for a possible abridging. It's already pretty wild as is, so it should be a good candidate. It should also be good for perversion, as the original is pretty perverted.
Krillin: So why was that fat robot called Android 19? Android 17: Because he was the 19th Android. Trunks: OOOOH MY GOD! Vegeta: YOUR FAILURE KNOWS NO BOUNDS!!
Yo Curt ! IDK if someone told you this before or not, but DBZ's whole "Time Travel Mechanic" runs on a "Multiverse Theory" so if for example: Adult Goku goes back in time and meets Kid Goku nothing actually happens unless Adult Goku does something stupid like kills Kid Goku (maybe not even then) It's confusing but ya know.... "Anime".

Something that i Just thought of...i've never really followed the story of DB or anything, but i do know that there is a movie where they focus all on Trunks in the future, and there is only 18 and 19 that eradicates the world...so, when Trunks says he has no idea how the androids look or who they are, then that is a load of bs, cause he would know cause he was there! or what, did he think the 2 purger of human life was not the androids who killed everyone? considering the Trunks who is in this time line he would know who they are more than anyone.

Dr. Gero should have just released #16 and left 17 and 18 alone. Because 16 could have fought them off, and all Gero would have had to do to get 16 to go along with it was to promise to bring him to Goku. Oddly enough though, I sought out this episode just because I wanted to see your reaction to the joke about Gero removing his own brain to put it in a robot body and not knowing how he did that because that was the funniest thing in the episode. What a disappointment.
Well the show is pretty funny without any knowledge of it. Also idk if i would want to have to wacth through almost 300 episodes just to be able to come back to the abridged.

Ehh... I'd give it until after the fight between the Z Warriors & 17 and 18, they need to get the idea of how strong they are, that and because of a few certain scenes wouldn't be as funny until they watch the specific episode
Boku Hero Academia would be brilliant, and the strongest character is voiced by piccolo from dbz, and if you need the voice of a villain let me know, as I'm very good at it. Got some gaming gigs next year. :)
Well a good anime series that very few people have abridged is the show called jormungand, it's pretty badass and action packed and has some hot women in it, u might be able to do something good with that
+Locoman4000,care to explain why the fuck you are hating on the original anime series that fans wants to return please explain before you start saying stupid shit
I feel like the anime Golden Boy would be perfect for you guya lol. It's short (6 episodes I think) and full of perverted visual content. It'll be a great first attempt for an abridged series.

Yeah, the person reading the opening doesn't necessarily die. It's just that IF someone dies in the episode, it'll be the person reading the opening.
