It’s a nice tool to have if you are in the business of fencing but not for the DIY’er.
Been building for 1.5 now but I have a way better way to measure it out. String is cheap, run string, lay out 2x4x8s down the line, use a 2x4 block for equal space, start digging. (Last two sections always split and offset. Works every time and takes less then 10 minutes for 80 -100’ line. Side note ( take 2x4 block and turn sideways for steel postmasters, 2x4s flush to each other if you like to to set on top of of wood post. And what you make up for in perfectly spaced sections, you lose in time curing 2x4s, pickets per section. What do I mean when I say pickets per section?? We’ll say your using steel post ( every 8’ section is 17 1x6 pickets per section which covers the post from one end to the other without using a extra picket.. you can spacing on every section and that’s gonna cost you $5 bucks for every section later down the line river cover each other end of the post, I’ll take a baby section at the end
I just measure from behind the concrete of the old post I wanna start at and just measure 7.5 inches mark with a hammer set the line and dig and the last ones I just split em usually be 7ft apart each🤷♂️🤷♂️
I think this guy really has installed some fences in his day

Impressive for sure. Just for my one fence in my backyard which needs to be done, I'm considering the Equalizer!
At the end of the day when guys are all tired and want to get off how fast does that thing get tangled or destroyed. One guy should be able to drag a tape and get each hole right where it needs to go. This tool is just an example of how people love to overthink fencing.
Lol we just roll it up easy peasy no need to tangle it up. If you have a hard time with that a small plastic orange reel can make rolling it even easier.
An engineering student did a project on this tool and determined it was 86% percent faster and 26% more accurate for a seasoned veteran.
Keep on using the tape measure repaint and string if you won’t too enjoy
If they are tired or rushed, you better be more worried about the quality of their workl!

Great idea! I'll make my own though. $50 for 140' of bungie. Some paracord with constrictor and loop knots with a few carabiners. $300 w/out free shipping is excessive, or $900 since he recommends to get 3.

Leaves more cut-off waste than all 8 footers with one short span next to a gate, corner or end of line, making it stronger.
I love this concept. I feel like it would be great for marking holes. But leaving it in place to also set the posts seems questionable. For chain link or t-posts this would definitely be a time saver. But for wood posts. My question is, if the tag marks the center of the hole. You have to then move the equalizer to the side in order to dig your hole every time. Which is hard if it's between the tracks of your machine. Also you would be driving over it constantly.
Nice tool man. I can imagine this is helpfull for a lot of people, but here in Holland we never use strings! We set our posts by the eye, way quicker and straight as hell.
BUT I BET 80% OF YR TIME U STILL USE A LEVEL TO MAK SURE TO CORRECT ANY OF YR FUCK UPS YOU DID WITH "YR EYE"
@@ridinsolo1158 We always use a level. We set our beginning post and end post, and sight all the other posts in line while holding it level. Then pound them down, and keep them tight in a straight line while sighting the height off with marks. We work this way for like 20 years now

I would've liked to see (after putting that "orange gate block") if the measurements btwn. ALL tags were consistent on both sides of the gate.
For vinyl: What's your best way to stretch the wings against the house to side line? Dont want to put stake against house where digging a hole.
standard string and a few paint marks please if you knew anything about fencing your string hight and placement on pins determine exactly how your fence will look across the top of each section

I install vineyard posts and sometimes they are 4,5,6, or 8 feet apart
The skid steer has gps.
Kind of cool but not practical ... I don’t see the tool lasting long with diggers and augers being used along side it . Also we like to float our post in .. we do that by using metal stakes and floating the string line in and then setting our post . There’s no need to cut the tops after setting .. in order to do so the string line needs to be pulled extra tight to eliminate any sag ...
I don’t see a rope being any help with our way of installation....
Very practical and those that use it will only know. Diggers. and an auger should never hit it. But none the less this tool is one hat has a life cycle of about a year but then again so does string line and 300’ tapes lol. Once you start using your eye to float post instead of the string line you will see an improvement with your efficiency and accuracy. Keep on fencing.
Actually 10 sections would be 93.8" posts. 11 sections is 84.9". Sections are 96". - No? 4:25.
All this just to not mark holes? How do you stagger to dodge the old post? If u want my first section 7ft so I dodge the old footing the 8ft after that how could I use this to that?
That is another one of the amazing things about this tool. If there is something in the way on one hole you can make a slight adjustment with the tool and all of the other post location with move in order the blend everything. The hole spacing self adjusts for you this is not just a cord

But isn’t it a bungee cord? So when yo pull it, rather you pull it to tight or not tight enough isn’t it going to not stretch far enough or over stretch which will not give u an exact 8 foot as you are stating?
so is this like a big bungie chord? you buy a 7' spacing one and when you pull and tighten the line the spacing grows equally up to 8'?

What if you have a run that is more then the 140' you offer? I currently and putting up a fence and my longest run is about 175' No gates in that run. Will this still work?

On what side of the tag do u set the inside portion of the posts? Does it depend on what direction you start at?
Tag goes in the center of the post normally but you could also do same side same side

You only installed 6’ pressure treated fences and use like 20 people lol , try to do 8’ board on board cedar fence
