No fuel, no oil, no maintenance, no spark plugs, no chain, no clutch, no gears, no smoke, no noise. No air intake, no air filters, no engine damage from water, sand or dust, no oil filter, no fuel filter. On the trail or city, it can go about 200 miles, very comfortable, and amazing design. Charges on any outlet. The Bosch MSC seems to be great, specially on longer trips, it does a good job of helping safety. The off-road ABS only actuates over the front wheel. For the time being, I think it is very nice.

Just saw this bike in my orange dealer. 25k, 100 mile freeway range. Gas prices vs electric. As a motorcyclist being that quiet is asking for a problem in traffic. It’s bad enough people Can’t see us, now they can’t hear us. It looks great. Design is cool. But they have to sweeten the deal. Put the bags on for 25k and give me the quick charger as well. Throw in a jacket. We may have a deal. Until then I’ll keep my 160 hp Ducati enduro. With a 9 gallon gas tank and 250 mile range.

Great review Tucker thank you. I just bought a Zero DS with a charge tank. I opted for the 7.2kwh battery. That'll give me more storage underneath. The bike will weigh a hundred pounds less at 320 (plus the weight of the charge tank) versus 420 lb They're shipping it out of Boulder so I don't have it yet, later next week it should arrive. That'll mean I've got three Zeros. Two pure off-road older models and this one will be mostly for Street use. I ordered the Sondors Metacycle but got tired of waiting so pulled the trigger on this one.

Great review! I know sorting out the range and recharging rates are the predominant issues to tackle but once that is sorted out what do you think of pushing for an All Wheel Drive mode that could be added to the existing driving modes for assistance in problematic off-road sections that one might run into when out solo and far away from any help.

Thanks for the DSR/X review. I would like the extra range compared to my DSR, and the extra hp would be nice. However the cost and extra 120 lbs are not so appealing. I would like to know if Zero has improved their helmet lock, which is unusable on my DSR. Also, is there a good handle on the rear fender for backing up the bike? The handle on my DSR is hard to get a good grip on.

Partly because of competion but mostly because of different ideas. 1 company adds something and the others have to come up with something to compare. Look how much Harley has developed since Indian came along. These bikes are really getting exciting now.

@@ElectricCycleRider OK, so I watched the video and left a comment there. I also read the article. I believe the video would have been much better had more of the info in the article been in it. I saw nothing in it though that would make me feel better about the bikes and read things that reinforced my misgivings. These bikes and I mean the Zeros specifically are just no ready for primetime. They do not appear to be capable of being your daily driver and all around vehicle. Can you do great things with them? Yes and no. There is a huge loss of freedom that comes with an electric motorcycle and if your free time or vacation time has any type of time constraints then keep on with gas. If your time is unlimited and you have no issues spending hours daily charging, limiting your speed and where you go then I guess it works. Ultimately I am still not decided in a firm way on either side. This is something that each individual is going to have to decide for themselves. Sadly the price of entry is prohibitive for most to be able to try and decide. I am willing to live with one for a month and see, but I don't see it happening. I live off grid in Arizona in Mohave county. My commute to the shop is 15 miles each way and only 3 of that is paved. The ride to town from the shop is 60 miles and the majority is rt66 so highway speeds. I can't see my life improving by spending more time in town waiting for the bike to charge. Willing to try, but extremely skeptical. Thanks to Tucker (I think thats the name) for the links and great job on the video quality. Still open minded, but nothing else has really changed. Haters refute my points or stfu fanbois

Question about the "Rapid Charger" option; does this require TWO J1772 plugs to take advantage of 12-13kW of charging? Here in the Bay Area, some ChargePoint EVSE stations have dual side-by-side J plugs on one charger. But some are only single and the other plug is a bit far away to hog two at the same time. Just wondering. Thanks!

Battery capacity is 15.2 kWh. Don't buy their crap of calculating the "max capacity" using the fully charged voltage instead of nominal voltage, it just does not make any sense and their marketing department does only to push a higher number, because higher is better. Let's stop this crap, it's really stupid and prevents to do proper comparison. Energica has started to do the same, using max voltage to calculate battery capacity: it's idiotic. There is no thing as "max capacity", there is nominal capacity and that is what we should compare.

Egregiously expensive and pay-to-play for features that exist on every bike, yet are locked until you pay them more... terrible business model that everyone despises in video/mobile games makes it's way to motos; averting what are/should be the benefits - 'cheaper to produce', 'cheaper to maintain', 'greater efficiency'... etc. This type of business is a step backwards, instead of taking a stride forward like it should be. Higher accessibility is what's needed to really make a difference.

I think its because they know they wont get much money from servicing these bikes in the same way they do from ice, so instead they are looking to replace that money with subscription based features.
Its despicable practice imho, I would much rather they concentrated on developing better bikes or better manufacturing processes.

That kind of what I mean. Demand is there I believe, you could make 20 or more bikes from one electric raptor or whatever they are, supply is the issue yet its not really because of lack of resources. So what is it holding these back?

    • @FlyingFun.
      @FlyingFun. 2 года назад

@@yoda68zac11 combination of factors holding it back, supply chain issues, workforce maybe, production just not up to speed and it's a new product area so taking things slow whilst ironing out kinks etc and knowing that the demand is there so price almost doesnt matter.
In time all this will change but it is taking too long imho.
Dont under estimate the fact that there could well be a turn around and electric suddenly wont be attractive anymore and any company overly committed to it might suffer so they probably a bit cautious of spending too much ramping up production.

Hey @Electric Cycle Rider, I'd like to ask you this directly since no one seems to have the balls to be straight forward. Do you fake compliments because you wanna maintain a good relationship since Zero allowed you to test their new stuff?
"This DSRx has the 17.3kwh battery pack which is impressive" No, no it's not. It's pathetic to say the least. Energica has had 21.5kwh for years now and just came out with a new 22.5kwh. To be honest with you, even the 22.5kwh is small. That is not impressive. Much less Zero with their faulty Farasis cells and their Chinese onboard chargers.
I ride with the world's biggest EV motorcycle owners group, SoCal Electric Motorcycles Owners Group, and we don't know you. But I suppose with this "Electric Cycle Rider" name, you should at least act like you know the market...? Why lie?
The reality is, Zero made negative improvement since 2016. Their "engineers" are great a buying stuff from China and putting it together. They've disregarded customer feedback since their first motorcycle. They're disgustingly lazy, as you would remember from their attempt and quick give up on the ChaDeMo project. Once again, why lie? The DSR/x, the entire Zero line up and Zero itself are a disgrace to the EV community. There's absolutely 0 good to say about them. Please get it together and stop spreading misinformation on RUclips.

I am open to electric bikes. I have not had an opportunity to ride one, but I have an open mind. My issue is with all these 'reviews'. You cannot give an hones review of anything having only taken a ride on it. First impressions? Yes absolutely. I believe that many riders have bad impressions of electric bikes because of all the fanboyism. They gush and preen so they get continued access. I learned nothing about this bike I couldn't from a press release or the website. I don't have anything against the creator, I have never seen any of the sites videos before, yet I knew how the video would go in the first few minutes. Why are we supposed to be impressed by the acceleration when that's how electric works? It isn't like they talked about the power curve or how they tweaked (if they have) the controller for the optimal power curve or anything like that. Again, I don't know the 'reviewer' (yeah quotes there because this is in no stretch of the imagination a review) and he might be great at it when he actually does a proper review. This is all just marketing hype to continue to have access to junkets and press events. Until reviewers in the media and the community actually act like what they claim to be, all we will get is the same video from different people ad nauseum. The few true reviews will be from those that bought them and have nothing to lose from the company.
To the reviewer, my bad guy, I have nothing against you personally, this video was just the proverbial straw for me. I will watch some of your other content and post further. I will apologize if my comments were in error. I have no issues with being wrong and admitting it. This could be compelling if not for Zero's horrible anti-right-to-repair and "in-app" purchases to "unlock" hardware and electronics already on the motorcycle. You're just transporting dead battery weight (among other things) around for no reason. Well... no reason except giving more money to Zero to let you use the things your motorcycle already has on it. I **REALLY* hope the hacker community makes it un-worthwhile for Zero to continue this asinine strategy.
Zero is about as anti-consumer as you can get, which is too bad - I think they have something to offer the EV space. They just need to embrace a more consumer-centric strategy. A company that views their consumers as just ignorant dollar signs is a company I want nothing to do with on any level.

Just imagine buying a gas bike where the tank has to be replaced after every 500 refills .. and it costs half as much as the whole vehicle.

$25,000 for a bike with a range of about 150 miles per charge 🤔 no thanks. Maybe in 10 years they'll have the technology for better results.

Too expensive, too small range, slow charging, cost of electricity too high now, pay extra to use features that are already on the bike.
    Yeah sure I'll buy 2....
IF I was and dumb enough lol.
