  • David Pawson says other history may be interesting, but the history of Israel is vital for the whole of mankind. From the height of success, the times of the kings headed downhill. First the land was split between 10 tribes in the north and 2 in the south and eventually the 10 were deported to Assyria. While there were a few good kings it was not enough to stem the downward trend and the 2 tribes were taken away to Babylon. God had warned them that they would suffer a similar fate, but they disobeyed. David says one of the main reasons for reading the books of Kings is that it can happen to the church as well. Though their descendants returned to the land under priests, they were then occupied by the Egyptians, the Syrians, the Greeks and finally the Romans which was the situation when Jesus was born. For a Hebrew, a kingdom is about authority, not a place. Thus the kingdom of God is not a place but a power. The kings were judged as good or bad according to whether they honoured God or not. This is history from God’s point of view. Understanding history saves us from repeating the mistakes of the past. David says God is still in charge of history. The two significant prophets in Kings are Elijah and Elisha.

@@martinmartin6300 No, but Jesus left us believers with the Holy Spirit, so that in it self is enough to be thankful for the helper.

David's offensive strikes were actually defensive. It was a time and place when tribes regularly attacked and invaded one another, and they would have done the same to Israel given the chance. Also bear in mind that many of the tribes in the area weren't human, they were evil, ungodly monsters, who did unspeakable things. In the 21st century, we see our own society going the same way. God's judgement against evil nations is absolutely right!

He stated Zerubbabel was a priest, Zerubbabel was not a priest but a governor, Zerubbabel's priest was Joshua the son of Josedech.
Zerubbabel was like a king but could not be king as like Jesus they were both cursed by GOD in Jeremiah 22:28-30 to never sit on David's throne because of their ancestors Coniah/Jechonias/Jehoiakin

David corrects it at 5:45. He made the same slip of the tongue, and corrected it, in talk 42 (Ezekiel part 1) - i.e. he said Zerubbabel, when he meant to say Joshua. The diagram is not corrected.

Pawson is a great Bible teacher , but he is deceived on how things work in the real world. The Queen of England and her council have great power over what legislation gets approved in the UK, Canada and the rest of the common wealth. This has been revealed numerous times.
