In 1989, at age 42, Nolan Ryan averaged 127 pitches a game with a high of 164, which came five days after he threw 150. Nolan was still reaching 95-100 mph. Got his 7th no-hitter 5-1-91 in his 27th year of his career. Now that’s really crazy! Gerrit Cole was almost 8 months old @ that time. On 10-15-2010 @ 63 years of age, Nolan hurled an 86 mph first pitch @ the Rangers/Blue Jays alcs game. Can’t forget 8-5-93 when 46 year old Nolan beaned & beat the crap out of 26 year old Robin Ventura.

Your memory may be short, but you can rest assured there are plenty of fans in NY, Los Angeles, and Oakland who will not be “forgetting” about what transpired in Houston for a long, long time. Much like we still talk about the Black Sox (102 years ago!) and the steroid era (including Sierra, McGwire, Canseco and Bonds), the Trashtros will be ridiculed and belittled for a long, long time. And deservedly so. This ‘sticky stuff’ business will be a radar blip in comparison.

@@SMcNulty55 the problem is Cole played for the Astros. There’s quite a few players who played for the Astros playing elsewhere that seem to somehow be immune from the “old shit” jabs. I am unsurprised by the hypocrisy.
My memory isn’t short. I am well aware of the cheating. I am also well aware of the fact that this was and is a rampant problem and only the Astros got steamrolled for it. Whatevs. I am really unbothered by it. But saying the “sticky stuff” is a “small blip” is absolutely asinine.
