Or if I advance in level, then can I buy them in the Top Spin store? I mean, if I buy the standard edition, is there no way I can have the extra gear of Alcaraz or Tiafoe playing and leveling up?
So if your friend has a ps4 and you have a ps5 and you want to play against your friend. you with the ps5 needs to buy cross gen. Your friend with the ps4 just needs the ps4 version
I own an xbox one should I just buy the xbox one version? next gen people will have to use the xbox one version in order to play me but I don't have the capability to play next gen people

If I were to guess they will be available in the store later date the only thing that wouldn’t be is the “grand slam” kits etc

Yes. As you would be buying it on new gen. So what that means they give you the ps5 version and the ps4 version as separate games.
