    I was fortunate enough to have Shem demo this to me when it was still using components from his earlier work. It’s a great game, he’s a great guy, receptive to feedback. I’m so happy he has seen success with this and look forward to his next project.

    Bravo and thank you both. This has been one of my favorite reviews by both of you. There was a clear review section stating what you liked and didn’t like (the base game, in Jeremy’s case) and I felt both of you got your opinions across clearly. Much appreciated.

      There isn't much not to like for me. True, the base game left me cold, but the rediscovery I had with the expansions made me re-evaluate my enjoyment of the game. It's super satisfying and a solid choice for Euro fans.

    I’ve played the base game a few times and really enjoyed it! So much so, that I picked up the two expansions a couple days ago. Glad to watch this review before getting it all to the table! Thanks for sharing your perspective.

    Great great game. Thanks for the review guys. One note though: You say that you only take a single action each turn. I believe David saves it in the end, but just to make it 100% clear to everyone: You take your first action when placing a worker and your second action when grabbing another one. I can’t wait to play the two expansions!

      Yep! Hopefully it was clear to people.

    With both expansions the player limit ups from 4 to 6 players. Keep up the great work!

    I love playing this game. Along with 878, Blood Rage, and Champions of Midgard I'm Viking set for life.

      Which do you like this or CoM?

    • @NordySpeaks
      @NordySpeaks 7 лет назад

      Equal. Raiders is more Euro. CoM is more thematic.

    It is a fantastic game. The combo of Shem designing and The Mico illustrating is pure joy.

    Liked the base game but thought it was a bit light. The expansions add that whole next level that really makes this a must own worker placement game IMO. Really unique worker placement mechanic and definitely is that next step game.

      Agreed - the expansions open up the game completely.

    I am pleased to say that i have the only copy of the game and its expansions in all of India. Shem even confirmed that to me. A brilliant fun game.

    Great game! backed this on kickstarter with expansions and the game really shines with the expansions. Worth the money to purchase and time to play

      Anthony Burnett I’m kicking myself for not backing, especially missing out on that bigger box.

    I love playing this game! I had it on preorder w/ other games so by the time it was delivered I had already purchased Hall of Heroes. I going to be picking up Fields of Fame with a couple weeks.

    Love this game. A Viking exchange game? Recently got both expansions - if I had to choose one to add especially when teaching I'd pick Hall of heroes. I find it easier and more interesting for new players. But, either one adds a great deal.

      Jim Tompkins, I was just having the “How should I teach it” conversation the other day. I agree with you, although I’d push experienced gamers with the whole thing if possible. Thanks for watching.

    No mentioning of the high price of the two expansions? You, as so many reviewers, are offered the games to play them and offer us your significant opinion. But us, we have to buy them to play them...And Raiders core game is an interesting game to begin with. I agree.

    One of my favorites since the original Kickstarter. I don't think the expansions are essential, but they certainly do add variety and depth.
    P.S. The Mico is absolutely my favorite game artist. Will buy a game based on him alone.

    I only had a chance to play it once but I had a blast with it. Really need to add this to my collection

    great review! and really love this game!
    curious, if you had to choose one of the two expansions to start, which do you favor?
    it seems Hall of Heroes falls more into the traditional worker placement completing quests mechanic, whereas Fields of Fame has more of an emphasis on battling and glory - fair enough, but of the two what do you find more fun and rewarding to play?
    thanks!

      Hall of Heroes for sure. Both are good but Hall is the game changer!

    Love the game.

    I would really like to play this after your great video but at €135 for everything it is just not doable. That is a very expensive proposition.

    • @RolandsRevenge
      @RolandsRevenge 7 лет назад

      Subtotal €88.00
      Shipping €43.00
      Total €132.00
      So the same price.
      For a game that seems not really complete without the expansions this is really too expensive. You are lucky that games are so much cheaper in the US

    You guys didn´t like the new dice?

    • @randybieri
      @randybieri 7 лет назад +1

      I didn't hear the black Valkyrie Dice even mentioned

    • @meeple
      @meeple  7 лет назад +1

      There were probably a few things we didn't mention. The black dice definitely create some randomness. I like going into combat with full knowledge. The black dice are cool, but they do create randomness that I typically don't enjoy in games. That's just me. Allowing players to play either way is cool, so it's really about options and what you like.
