Great job! Love your design!! Question: I’m in the process of building a screener and have springs very similar in length & diameter to yours. What are the metal cups you used on the top & bottom of your springs & where did you find them? I’ve searched high and low for something similar with no luck!
Great workmanship and design! Yours is fancy. I just cobbled one together and started torturing it. Agree with others, you need a steeper angle and more vibration. The springs, while smart looking, are way too stiff. Try to find a taller set that has a lot more flex. Also, you will get more vibration if you downsize the pulley on the main shaft, you almost want to reverse what you have. You want the counterweight assembly to spin as fast as is safe. It should spin fast enough where you can not make out the spinning shape, it just looks like a solid surface. This will all pretty much eliminate your need to 'tend' the shaker deck. My DIY shaker deck is at an angle of 35 degrees, and I find it self clears all but the wettest and heaviest buckets full. The fact that you have your screens in the 'long' orientation (I have the same) means there is plenty of opportunity for the dirt to fall through. At the steeper angle, you still will not get much dirt flowthrough (but it does remove a lot more of the small gravels that otherwise would fit through the mesh).
Great looking machine and very well constructed but... you need a slightly steeper angle (25-30 degrees) and you definately need to put far less dirt on it at a time otherwise you bog down the vibration effect. Feed it more slowly and it will actually work more quickly. I spend hours each week using a machine that I built that I operate totally alone and use my little excavator to feed it. I use 1/2 inch spacing on my wire grid and it makes beautifully screened soil. I keep a little stiff bristle push broom up on my excavator with an 8 ft handle for easier reach just in case piece of old sod or a stick gets hung up and slows things down. I seldom have to actually get off my machine. The angle and rate of feed is everything but I'm sure you already figured that out if you built this back in 2018. Keep up the great work!
Thanks buddy for watching and commenting also advice 😉👍 this was a first attempt I did adjustable legs in the front so if I get moist soil I'm adjusting the angle also I did add a re-bars on top of the screen on the angle that works great Happy screening 😉👍
Your new friend came and watched your video very well and meaningful. Your footage is impressive and leaves the beauty in the life that you create it. Please keep these beautiful moments. Please share and encourage each other dear friend. I am waiting for your new videos.
nice work, i'd say you would need longer springs, anything from a small car would work well . the current springs are short and seem to have a heavy spring rate, your looking for soft spring rate so factory small car spring rate should be 2-3kg. if you cut factory springs shorter you'll increase the spring rate which you dont want. good luck, hope this helps
You can make it pay for itself with hobby gardeners wanting their gardens rock free. I know I’d hire you because it would pay me dividends just to have no rocks for vegetables growing.
@@wiserswhiskies what I did in other end of shaft I put ¼ steel plate off the center and welded 1"/½ peace this create shaking, speed of engine control more or less
Nice video, your pretty smart! I seen your comment on JUN T'S OUTDOORS and decided to check you out. Im subbed to you now. I do alot of fishing myself, any support would be greatly appreciated

This is really cool!
I need one of these for a smaller scale project!!! Something I can just feed with a shovel.

What kind of springs and spring mounts did you use? I am building a screener of my own and don’t know how to deal with the spring and its mounts?
I got them from the job they use them for big AC units as a antivibration

I was thinking the same you have too much dampening with those short springs good soldid design over all!
If you used a more solid shaft and slightly larger counterweight, that thing would scream! I like it a lot though. Great work.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
I wonder if would work as a gold sifter
Thanks for watching and commenting buddy probably will work with some modifications 😉🤙
