finally! nice to see someone advise some flexibility instead of military like discipline, which I find impossible to do, and frankly I question if the people advocating such things even really do it themselves. Thanks for more realistic strategies!
This is the way to go. Don’t beat yourself up when something doesn’t go your way. Just start again. You can always start anew and hopefully a bit better. Strive for consistency in progress.
Thank you, Tiago! Your "reality" is very much appreciated! As an old guy (aka, Old Fart) I have been studying productivity since 1980 with the arrival of Tony Robbins and gone on from there. Frankly, I think Robin Sharma's book "The 5 AM Club" really screwed up the productivity theme. I have had many discussions about the value of getting up at 5 AM every day and, honestly, it is not the right thing for everyone. Overall, I agree there is no perfect recipe for daily productivity. I tend to subscribe to your approach and that of Carl Pullein where my day starts out with my top three actions written on a sticky note the night before. Please keep up the awesome work! Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays! Ernie
I was behind my whole life, constantly arriving to work late, etc - but the 5 AM Club inspired me to try... get up at 5 AM. Just that though, not implementing much else from the book. Changed my life for the better. Some mornings I've run almost two hours late due to life's curveballs - and I've still been on time for work. It's amazing. Different strokes, I guess. Long story short: Getting up at 5 AM allows me to be flexible and gives me the space to apply all the awesome tips mentioned in this video.
I am really glad for this video... I have been struggling in the last month with my habit tracker, I feel so guilty, but as you shows us the productivity... Makes me think that being productive does not need be such stressful. Thanks a bunch
The idea of variability, listening to the body and flexibility of schedules for exercise actually makes total sense from the scientific evidence perspective, the biopsychosocial model and our understanding of evolution of human movement. (Physio here). Spot on!
I really enjoyed this alternative approach to productivity. It resonates more with me compared to the regimented discipline of other habit systems. I like the menu concept, it shows me making healthier choices does not have to be a binary healthy/not healthy option.
I love the humanity in this menu habit style. like we arent robots, and we dont have control over 100% of our days - even without children. Thats why I dont like these rigid structures that so many creators advertise. If it works for you, thats good, but it wont work for everybody. And it created a lot of pressure around following these routines - at least for me. Ive also recently adopted this kind of menu style of habits. I give myself options and I actively choose what to do any given day, depending on my energy levels and priorities. It helps to focus my attention and it helps me with feelings of shame. Because when I actively choose what to do that day, I know that the decision was based on the circumstances of that day. The only thing I still struggle with is choosing the difficult things instead of the easy ones, even though I know the difficult option is the better one in the long run. But one step at a time, right? :)
Wow, this opened my eyes. I've never seen it from that perspective. I really do sometimes beat myself up over not doing what I was planning to do on a certain day or that I forgot to do something yesterday, like yoga. I still have to deal with my procrastination issues, but at least making small mistakes won't bother me anymore. Thank you!
Every video always offers breakthroughs. I love that you always show us the Human side and a minimalist approach to everything. You make our lives better! Merry Christmas! Feliz Navidad! 🎉
You don't have to have a training program if your goal is just to stay relatively fit. But if you want to achieve a big challenge, such as a marathon or a 160km bike ride, you must commit to a training plan, and train even when you don't feel like it.
Nice video. We have exactly the same mind. It would be nice to do a video about "paper". Reducing screens, switching a part of work to paper (freelances etc.).
So I get that you do deep work when you are working in the morning for 2 to 3 hours every day. How exactly do you make this happen with kids on the weekend? I feel like having 4 hours of deep work time on the weekend would be life changing.
Most routines definitely do not take real life into consideration. After all, somebody has to do the dishes and other everyday mundane tasks. There will always be interruptions. Not everyday flows smoothly.
There was some guy on RUclips who was critiquing people's videos like this the funny thing is is he would check things like their time.. And there would be like yeah here I am 6:00 a.m. working yet.. He was able to see the time on their computer or whatever and it showed it was like almost noon just like everybody else
yeah that's true, if your not funny don't try and force it just focus on your strengths of teaching about productivity and its efficiencies of your methods
As a parent and a productivity nerd, this is so refreshing and HEALTHY! GREAT CONTENT! Keep it up!
Thank goodness-a realistic take on how family effects productivity and routine
It's definitely not a one-size-fits-all approach!

Exactly. Here in Brazil, where we know a "malandro" (cheater) when we see one, we know that all those influencers are just faking.
This is the way to go. Don’t beat yourself up when something doesn’t go your way. Just start again. You can always start anew and hopefully a bit better. Strive for consistency in progress.
It's nice to see an alternative viewpoint that's much more realistic for parents!
I agree. But I would still like a bit more in this area. Like primarily, how do you get 4 hours of deep work time on the weekends when you have kids?

One of the best videos to help exit the obsessive productivity urges
The approach to food (with multiple acceptable options) is a game-changer.

I love your humor and your practical tips on how to deal with life as it happens,
I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I like how this is more realistic than what other influencers peddle!

It's the same with productivity! Sometimes a structured approach is the best way to reach your goals.
It all depends on what works from or you. I like early rise, organization and lists. I don't have a strict model for everything. But, balance key.
I agree! It's all about finding what works best for you.
Great video as always - succinct and intentional. Just signed up for your newsletter to keep hearing more!
I'm excited to have you on board!
You need to do a video about using chatgpt w/ the new projects features
Like the idea of plan A-F for dinner, otherwise we just eat out 😂
Nice video. We have exactly the same mind. It would be nice to do a video about "paper". Reducing screens, switching a part of work to paper (freelances etc.).
That's a great idea for a future video!
LOVE IT!!!
Why is there no plan e for food
Wu Wei effortless action in line with natural forces in the flow of flow
Haha nice intro

I'm proud to say that I walk 5k... steps every day. :)
This is the way I’ve been doing it - less rigidity, more flexibility
Why no "Plan E"? 🤔
It’s like a report card grading system. Plan F is what you follow when all else fails.
No plan E?
No Plan “E”?
Ironically the Sarcastic “Overdone RUclips Grind” Opening is now becoming overdone itself.

Your pushups suck Tiago :D
