I mean, I’m a guy who loves his quiet. If I listen to music I always wear earbuds or headphones, same when gaming, because I don’t want to bother others. From that second story it sounds like he has friends over a lot, while outside playing music. This would absolutely drive me nuts, especially since my work schedule has me working odd hours days and nights, and I’ve never been able to sleep with music playing. I probably wouldn’t do or say anything about it since I prefer to avoid confrontation, but it would definitely annoy me.
Pardon me for saying it, but you immediately sound like a Karen, except you don't go out screaming at the neighbours. I also use headphones headphones and keep my volumes down when listening to Reddit videos on my phone. I Have been known to ask other people to turn their phones down but don't scream at them. We don't know how "loud" the music actually was in this story, but it was apparent that the OP did not party each weekend and he mentioned 12 people, I believe. He also mentioned curfew of 10 PM so that means he probably only "partied" until 10 PM, so that is responsibly being aware of neighbours. Again we don't know how loud things were but it is strongly implied or even stated that it was pretty low key overall. You live in a neighbourhood, I assume, with other people so you have to accept their lives and behaviours or move out into an acreage setting or woodland setting.
I live in an apartment, so even normal level talking tends to travel to other apartments. I’ve made a game of it and if people are having an argument I’ll just be sitting in my room and yell out, “Oh yea, I totally get where you’re coming from, so wrong.” Or something. Hey, I was made part of the conversation, might as well roll with it. I do the same to people who use speakerphone. In any case, I don’t think it’s a ‘Karen’ move to want the same consideration from others that I give to them. Wanting some rest, quiet, and a good book after a long day is perfectly reasonable. I also never said anything about condoning or defending the behavior of those in the story. I merely mentioned my own personal views based on myself.
