What came first; the Lord forgiving us OR us repenting (asking for forgiveness)? I've heard it said that if we forgive without being asked for forgivenss makes us more holy than God. I say that God gave us grace of repentance and salvation and THEN we knew to repent. We were blind to our sin until He changed our heart, so His grace came before.
Debt is debt, sin is sin. If you take out the opinions, values and morals and just look at something as sin/no sin it makes it easier to understand this topic on forgiveness. I just had to be tested just a week ago with my father. He was caught up in a sting and is looking a life in prison and it may or may not have included my children. This is the hardest thing I have ever gone through.. but, because of the help of the Lord it has made it easy for me, my father being a sinner not yet saved needs the same amount of forgiveness as I do being saved. I am at Jesus's mercy.. he died for ALL sin. He bled for us. He bled for all, if only we turn and trust in him. I really loved the part about whatever is going on in someone's life when we forgive we turn to the Father for reconciliation. It's so true! So beautiful. Bless you guys at redeemer church!
It makes it easier to forgive others when we remember the billions of things that God has forgiven us for. We deserved His wrath yet He gave us His mercy (while we were yet sinners Christ died for us).
@@marinriver yes! the other day I was talking to my dad, and I said if Christ forgives me of my sins why can't I forgive her of what she did to me? like I want to but its just hard.
@@Jesuslovesyou88627What has helped me in the past is praying for that individual every day. God started to change my heart with each passing day from a heart of offence and hurt to a heart of love and compassion towards the other person.
If we are to forgive regardless of the repentance of those that sin against us... if that how God also forgives us? without condition? no. there is no such thing as forgiveness without repentance. we ought to be willing to forgive always, but there can be no reconciliation without repentance. This is also how God forgives us.
But God is righteous. We are not. Often our unforgiveness is because we think we deserve better. Forgiveness doesn't mean what they did wasn't wrong. It just means that you are not going to be bitter about it. It frees you as the one offended. Remembering that God forgave them if they are a believer means that if you're not forgiving them, you are holding a higher standard than God. If they are an unbeliever, remember that were it not for the grace of God, we would be doing the same exact thing. Being a forgiving person frees you to love as God loves.
I needed this today. Thank you dear Pastors.
Thank you. I needed this biblical reminder.

Very helpful. Thanks
I own my feelings so they don't own me. Forgive your neighbor as yourself.
