Development and concept: Donato Sansone and Marco Molinelli
Direction, animation editing and compositing: Donato Sansone
    Running time: 3’21’’
Created with the support of Regione Emilia-Romagna within the framework of the Legge Musica L.R. 2/2018
"Kaleidoscopic music duo C’mon Tigre describes their latest release, Twist Into Any Shape, as “an exhortation to change, to turn into any form or substance that makes you feel better.” It mixes the melodies of Sub-Saharan Africa with the music of northern Europe; a cocktail of distant musical influences inspired by the imaginary encounter between Fela Kuti and Caribou.
The corresponding music video, just like the track, is an esoteric cocktail of visuals that were created by experimental animator and compositor Donato Sansone, with story development and concept by filmmaker and video artist Marco Molinelli.
Watching Twist Into Any Shape is like going down a Reddit hole filled with posts of frenzied dance styles from around the world. Sansone is a master manipulator of creating viral content-he has already stacked millions of views for his expertly edited Ghost Crash video online-and has mined the internet for material to create the visuals for this short film. With a punk attitude, he uses video collage, animation, and split-screen techniques to create a circus of dancing visuals that are difficult to look away from." (via Nowness.com)

    Director’s statement
The 'Twist into any shape' music video has been realized using pre-existing material found and downloaded on the web. This material has then been manipulated with a punk attitude through video collage, mash-up and split screen techniques, as it was done before by advertisement and video art (Bruce Nauman) with very funny and creative results (Fontanesi). So, 'Twist into any shape' aims to merge this aesthetic experience with the idea of dancing, meant here as a joyous act, transformative of the world, liberating and collective, that allows the body to mutate in form and content. The idea is to manipulate in a grotesque and playful way the dancing bodies, through the means of visual contamination and fusion in an attitude that is not only ‘grunge’ and ‘punk’, but also surreal and cartoonish, with an end result that is fun and bizarre.
    Donato Sansone
Specialized in experimental animation and compositing of animation techniques and live action, his short films have been selected in the world’s best festivals (Annecy Animation Film Festival, Anima Mundi Festival Brasil, Hiroshima Animation) and linked in many popular blogs (stashmedia.tv, creativeapplications.net, wired.com, Vimeo staff picks and many others).
In 2011 ‘La Cinémathèque Québécoise’ listed ‘Videogame’ amongst the 50 shorts that changed the history of animation, furthermore, his short film ‘Journal Animé’, produced by Canal+ is among the finalists of the César prize and one of the 70 shorts selected for the Academy Awards.
As of today, he achieved 10 ‘Vimeo Staff Picks’ and his video ‘Ghostcrash’ went viral on Facebook reaching 220 million views.
Currently, his shorts are produced and distributed by the French company ‘Autour de Minuit’ and he works as a free-lance for important agencies as well as important Italian and international musicians.
