  • Tested the ring location on the S24 Ultra and found that it is what I thought. The location can vary by a few millimeters, and still charge your device. I really depends on how you want the phone to feel in your hand. It will take a little trial and error on your part, but you can get a box of 4 ESR Halo Lock magsafe rings for your S24 Ultra on Amazon for around $16. These are the rings I'd recommend. Ease of install and magnetic hold are some of the best I have. They are my go to. Please don't feel obligated to use the links below. Using them will give me a commission, but only use them if is suites you. Thank you spending the time you have with me. I hope you are better now than before this video. All the best to you.

All the best to you. I’m not sure how long they will keep offering this but,

A simple heads up. In the hopes of increasing potential long-term battery life on the S24 Ultra, and the increased heat from wireless charging. When possible, I find myself plugging in. Unless I’m using the pixel stand 2nd Gen with my Pixel 8 Pro. The fan helps with reducing heat.
Please feel free to tell me how you improved wireless charging on your device!

These phones have a ton of temp sensors in them to keep it within spec while charging. I just ran a test pulling all the senor data and the phone (S42U) has over 50 temp sensors, I stopped counting around 54 or 57.

With all due respect, you are comparing different parts of the charging curve. You should have discharged the battery and started from the same percentage.

I appreciate you taking the time to help. I considered that. It might have made for a better comparison. Appreciate you

You have to think of batteries like giant parking lots. If the parking lot is empty, or just half full, its easy to find parking spots for the ions, as a giant parking lot is randomly filled (just as is works with the lithium ions as it goes from cathode to anode randomly through the electrolyte) the battery will naturally charge slower, and these speeds are programmed into the battery management system. Not having the test start from the same spot, isnt a great comparison, but I will say you at least discovered there is no catastrophic loss of capability. So, thank you for the video and I'll be giving this setup a try with my S24 Ultra. I've been sticking a giant magnet on the back of my previous few phones and foregoing the wireless charging so that I have a solid mount with my vehicle's phone holder. By the way, CAW.CAR Accessories are amazing. I can say this after trying over 20 other brands. Their vent phone holder is the only one that is solid enough for me to put my phone exactly where I want it. I'm thinking of mounting the wireless charger for the ESR Halo Lock Fast Wireless Charger to my CAW.CAR mount so I can get the best of both worlds, having my phone right where I want it and wirelessly charge it. Last thing, your Clear Case Liquid Crystal By Spigen link is wrong. @@SomethingMobile

@@babochee, thanks so much for your insight and input. I have the ESR vent MagSafe charger as well. I have the fan and non fan version. Both work good. I’m just not sure the fan helps with faster charging, but they are a great choice for car wireless chargers. I have found myself not using wireless charge feature of those vent chargers. Instead I plug in the phone with the USB-C cable, and use the MagSafe feature as a phone “Holder.” I only do this if I need to get a faster charge, and or it’s a hot day. The heat from the wireless charging will cause the charging to pause if the ambient air is too hot. I don’t have AC in my truck. Even with the windows down. On 90 to 100 degree days. It’s too hot to wireless charge. P.S. Link updated. Thanks!

Well intended but thoroughly half-assed experiment. You should start at 50% each time and cool down the phone to same temp every time.
If maximums are needed, than it should be 0%.

Beyond certain percentages the charging will reduce so it will affect your tests

There are a lot of variables to consider. Heat is a major factor. The phone manufacturers know this and the software has been programmed to allow for a reduction in charging speed at certain temperatures or an increase. The only answer I was really wanting to find in my test is to see if changing the position of the Ring by a millimeter or two would affect the efficiency of charging. From what I could tell there's not much of a difference. The question in one of my comments did say that it didn't make sense to not put the ring directly on center of the charging coil. Due to reduce deficiency with charging. From what I could tell the variance could be 5 to 10%. For some people giving up 5 or 10% is okay as long as the feeling of the phone in hand related to the position of the magsafe Ring is acceptable.

There are so many different factors and without being super scientific we will never know. It was a good test and glad you did it

I agree, this test should be done anything under 80%, from 0% preferably.

I think that when a phone charges it lowers the charging speed to save the battery health overall

I'm using the newer ESR Halolock Ring, the one that looks like a magnifying glass. One thing I like is that I can put non-charging accessories, like wallet stands, slightly lower than the ring that the accessory doesn't block the camera, but it still feels secure, probably due to the extra metal piece at the bottom.

Don't know if anyone can confirm this but i think the coil on the s24 ultra is higher up compared to the s23 ultra, but case manufacturers haven't adjusted it loads of them don't work properly

Close your car's air vent if you are mounting your phone there when running the heat. Or open if you are using the air conditioner.

I have to be honest. I really didn't know Samsung offered a 15 watt charger. That is great to know. I might have to purchase that. That might be a good review item. Thank you for letting me know about your experience so far. And it's my pleasure to help all I can. Thank you for taking the time to leave this comment.
