Nice! The lyrics are written by Mike Cross. I used to play with him in Raleigh back in the 70's and I'll bet its been thirty years or more since I've heard anyone sing that. That was on his first album, "Child Prodigy". That was a great time for him. He's a real nice fellow. He is actually from Chapple Hill and went to UNC to study law and quit with a couple of semesters to go to play old time. That's about the time I met him. I play fiddle and guitar and so does he so we were doing a bunch of twin fiddling and such and floating, playing with all sorts of people. It was great fun. Your version sounds great. I especially like the hammer dulcimer in there. Keep up the great work and thanks!
These words are by Mike Cross. He added them to a tune by Andy De Jarlis. But it's similar to The Scotsman Reel and other tunes from "the Ol' Country," especially Speed The Plow...l
Kind of wondering.... I heard that the term, Whiskey Before Breakfast was actually what they fed soldiers before battle. If they received whiskey before breakfast, it was a battle day..... any historians here who know?
