돼라님이 이 글을 읽으실지는 모르겠지만 저도 가족같은 달팽이를 키우다가 응애가 생긴 적이 있습니다. 범인은 제 경험상 무조건 '코코피트' 문제이고요 ㅜㅜ 그래서 코코피트도 바꿔보고, 얼려보고, 전자렌지에다가도 돌려봤는데 저는 소용이 없었습니다... 그래서 달팽이에겐 너무 미안하지만 흙을 다 버려버리고 행주처럼 쓸 수 있는 키친타올을 분무기로 흠뻑 적셔서 두껍게 깔아준 뒤 키친타올과 맏닿은 상추가 쉽게 부패하지 않도록 은박지를 얇게 깔아줬습니다. 사육장은 일주일에 한 번 씩 싹 갈아줬습니다. 저희 달팽이는 알 낳을 때 빼고는 땅 속으로 잘 들어가지 않아서 그렇게 해도 상추만 많이 넣어준다면 잘 지냈습니다ㅎㅎ 그리고 응애 정말 끈질깁니다. 눌러서 터뜨려 죽이지 않으면 잘 죽지도 않아서 얇은 접시에 따끈~미지근한 정도의 물을 받아놓고 그 위에 달팽이를 올려놓으면 달팽이가 패각 밖으로 나오는데 그 때 면봉으로 몸 위에 기어다니는 응애를 일일이 하나씩 떼어냈습니다. 이 과정은 1~3일에 한 번 씩 몇 달 간 반복해줬고요 달팽이가 거품 물면서 승질도 엄청 냈습니다... 그 뒤 완치가 돼서 잘 살다가 작년 봄에 달팽이 별로 돌아갔습니다. 돼라님 상황이 저의 예전 모습을 보는 듯하여 조금이나마 도움이 되고자 댓글을 남깁니다^^
These look like Riccardoella Limacum, a common snail mite. They should die after being frozen and vacuumed. For the snails that are still alive, if you are worrying about them being infected, then you should thoroughly wash the snail and it should kill the mite(s).
Question: can snails handle colder climates (of course it depends on specie) but is there a temperature they can be kept at safely and not have mites survive
@@al-jamilagress2701 unfortunately i don't think so. These mites are pretty tough and have survived hand in hand with snails, evolving alongside them. Any conditions snails can survive in has the potential to harbor mites. There are precautions that can be taken, but sometimes snails will inevitably get mites. The best thing to do is make sure that your soil is free of them, as well as any leaves or bark you place in the tank. Bark can be baked in the oven to kill pests, and leaves can be boiled for a few seconds.
Please pay respect towards the Toktogi family. They died to avenge the snails and were falsely accused. Also, at 0:43, There are other worms at the right side.

Hey I might be a little late for this, but the reason the mites didnt die to the hand sanitizer is because they are very adept to aquatic environments. Ethanol is used specifically for bacteria and viruses, not exactly large scale pests (the larger bugs actually drowned in the hand sanitizer, they didnt die because of the bacteria destroying properties). I would recommend tampering with the pH of the environment instead of adding hand sanitizer (though its a mite, it’s going to need a significant pH change). I think a basic solution might be able to kill the pests, like bleach, but something extremely acidic (maybe lemon juice, but I’m not sure) might be able to do it as well. Hope this helps.
Vinegar might work, and you can actually buy quite highly concentrated ethanoic acid (vinegar). I think the best solution is to just sterilize new soil in an oven at maximum temperature and make sure the food is washed thoroughly

두 마리의 달팽이를 합사하신다면 앞으로 몇 차례 알을 더 낳을거예요. 분리 사육을 한다 해도 이미 한 번 이상 정자 교환을 하였기에 몇 번 더 알을 낳을 겁니다. 알을 지속적으로 낳고, 그 알에서 부화한 아이들을 전부 감당하시려면 키우실 때에 어려움이 있으실 거예요. 많은 달팽이 집사분들이 감당할 수 없는 알을 얻게 되면 얼려서 버리거나 끓여서 버리곤 합니다. 안타깝지만 최선책인 것 같아 그렇게들 하지요. 새끼 달팽이 7마리를 계속해서 합사를 하면 성장 속도가 현저히 더뎌질 거예요. 또, 약 5개월이 되도록 계속 합사를 한다면 교미공이 생겨 서로 교미를 하고 수백 아니 수천개의 알을 얻게 되실 수도 있어요. 그래서 많은 달팽이 집사분들이 분리사육을 하시곤 합니다. 아무쪼록 7마리 달팽이들은 서로 동족 포식 없이 잘 컸으면 하네요

@ferret I think that is called Dust Mites, they are literally in every corner of every house, particularly in the floors, because they eat dead skin that falls off from humans. They are mostly harmless to humans, but some are allergic to it, that it makes them sneeze.
For about 3 hours I've been watching your videos, lol, you're great! I'm sorry for the losses of snails and also for the loss of toktogi ( i don't know anything about these bugs that hurt/help snails) , i remember i collected some empty shells to paint them, not too long ago this year and when i washed them, some weird little bugs (black) came out, but they were already dead and it looked more like a carcass/skeleton. Now that I've seen the video, they might have been toktogi or God knows what they were lol. Anyway, I think you felt a little sorry for the toktogi but at least you found out how to kill the mites and further help the snails. Neem oil! I use it on plants that have been suspected of mite infestation (and new plants I get just in case, they go through quarantine lol). Super easy to find/buy, just stinks. You usually dilute it in water. I'm not sure if it is safe for snails, but worth looking into. Kills pests pretty efficiently
Hello (from France), I also have giant African snails, and I’ve had that concern as well. I was able to get rid of these nasty mites thanks to other mites (dust mite eater). I bought and released phytoseiulus mites in my terrarium, they saved my snails!

The spring tails and nematodes are just a part of the soil mixture. You actually need them for healthy vivariums because they are composters along with isopods. The mites might have actually freeloaded with the original adults.

두 마리의 달팽이를 합사하신다면 앞으로 몇 차례 알을 더 낳을거예요. 분리 사육을 한다 해도 이미 한 번 이상 정자 교환을 하였기에 몇 번 더 알을 낳을 겁니다. 알을 지속적으로 낳고, 그 알에서 부화한 아이들을 전부 감당하시려면 키우실 때에 어려움이 있으실 거예요. 많은 달팽이 집사분들이 감당할 수 없는 알을 얻게 되면 얼려서 버리거나 끓여서 버리곤 합니다. 안타깝지만 최선책인 것 같아 그렇게들 하지요. 새끼 달팽이 7마리를 계속해서 합사를 하면 성장 속도가 현저히 더뎌질 거예요. 또, 약 5개월이 되도록 계속 합사를 한다면 교미공이 생겨 서로 교미를 하고 수백 아니 수천개의 알을 얻게 되실 수도 있어요. 그래서 많은 달팽이 집사분들이 분리사육을 하시곤 합니다. 아무쪼록 7마리 달팽이들은 서로 동족 포식 없이 잘 컸으면 하네요

저도 달팽이키우는 집사인데요.. 달팽이한테 응애벌레는 거의 암 같은존재라서 코코피트 깔아주실때 비닐봉지 안에 코코피트를 넣고 묶지않고 전자레인지에 2분정도 돌려주시고 식혀서 코코피트 깔아주시면 응애벌래가 안 생기더라구요!

For about 3 hours I've been watching your videos, lol, you're great! I'm sorry for the losses of snails and also for the loss of toktogi ( i don't know anything about these bugs that hurt/help snails) , i remember i collected some empty shells to paint them, not too long ago this year and when i washed them, some weird little bugs (black) came out, but they were already dead and it looked more like a carcass/skeleton. Now that I've seen the video, they might have been toktogi or God knows what they were lol. Anyway, I think you felt a little sorry for the toktogi but at least you found out how to kill the mites and further help the snails. I hope your snails grow up healthy and as always, GOOD JOB AND GREAT CONTENT!!! Regards from Romania!

Neem oil! I use it on plants that have been suspected of mite infestation (and new plants I get just in case, they go through quarantine lol). Super easy to find/buy, just stinks. You usually dilute it in water. I'm not sure if it is safe for snails, but worth looking into. Kills pests pretty efficiently

I also have giant African snails, and I’ve had that concern as well. I was able to get rid of these nasty mites thanks to other mites (dust mite eater). I bought and released phytoseiulus mites in my terrarium, they saved my snails!
