People don't know how destructive bunnies can be naturally and sad that they end up in the shelter a lot because of it. So great to see that you have given her so much space and ways to take out her energy!

could also help to get her a friend, just an idea 🥰i used to have an aggressive bunny and it was because she was lonely - I have three at the moment and they are really happy together :) She's super cute though haha

It’s so sad the amount of people who get animals without informing them selves on them. I saw a bunny in the front of someone’s house in a dog cages and the cage was disgusting,

I've had plenty of feisty bunnies in my time through fostering and adoption. I wonder if Zero's attitude change is also about the change from sharing your space to having her own. She's also transitioned from a pen to a large open space and may feel less safe/more defensive because of that. Try giving her more hides, you can make them out of cardboard boxes, most animal people have lots of those around!
My last feisty girl bun hated me wearing socks. She would always greet me with nose nudges on my ankle/lower leg, but if I was wearing socks when she greeted me, she would bite at the socks, hard. My solution ultimately was to stop wearing socks in the house!

With 17 guinea pigs, 2 cats and a rabbit with a full time job I struggle sometimes with veggie prepping and it does suck even more when people panic and over buy all the veggies

For your cilantro, put them in a glass and add enough water to cover the tips of the stems. It lasts longer and they don’t get soggy 😊

Totally recommend a salad spinner for your veggie prep! The OXO one is amazing and what I use. Gets everything really dry and I even use it to wash veggies too.

Zero’s behaviour will calm back down, the spay will have caused her hormones to go crazy, can take up to 2 months for them to fully settle back down, just hang in there! Give her Lots of toys for her to destroy, and if she gets too bad you may need to use your x-pen while she settles xx

  • @catcubus
    @catcubus 2 года назад +47

There's an article on House Rabbit Society (I can't link it in comments) that talks about agression in rabits. It might be that Zero's hormones are out of whack (for right now) and could take up to a month to come back down. Until then all you can do is be patient and mayhaps wear shoes that cover your ankles or thick socks. Idk, you could put her back into a pen again again she becomes less agressive?

you take really good care of your pets and even though Zero bites and hisses at you and her bites make you bleed, you didn’t give up on her and you didn’t just leave her in a shelter. One of my family members got two rabbits about 6-8 months ago and when I went over to visit I went outside to their hutch to see them because even though I personally had no intentions on having rabbits I love them. Despite me sending her multiple RUclips links and articles on PROPER bunny care she kept them in a small hutch outside 😞 One of them had past away and the remaining rabbit had no pellets, no hay, no water. Needless to say I just grabbed "him" and took him home. He's free roaming in my bathroom for now, will slowly start integrating him into free roaming the whole house. Your story about your bun makes me nervous to have him neutered but I guess we'll hope for the best!

Don’t worry about getting him fixed. I’m pretty sure rabbits get a temporary hormone surge after they get fixed but after a month or two their hormone levels should go back to normal so the aggressive definitely won’t last forever

We have the same washing machine as you! :O I recognised the noise instantly. lol
Also, I love that you have such a big heart. I admire you and love that you care so much for these animals. It's absolutely possible to have 20 or more animals and be able to take care of them. Some people are just ignorant and make too many assumptions, despite not knowing people personally. Yeah, there are very selfish and irresponsible people in the world, some do neglect their pets and hopefully those kinds of people get reported and have their pets taken to a better home or at least a rescue; But there are plenty of people who have more than a few pets that do take care of them and can financially support them too. You are proof that people can be responsible for multiple pets and give them quality of life. Don't listen to ignorant people. You are a good person and with a huge heart! I can't even have one pet right now, due to not having enough space where I live and my own mental health isn't great, but I love watching your videos and watching pets just living their best life. It brings me a lot of joy and makes my days a little brighter for a little while.
On another note: Make videos that you want to. You don't have to make more routine vids if you don't feel like it. Just do what you feel like doing! :D It's your channel, after all.

We rescued a bun dumped in our yard and she is very aggressive. She lunges, bites and growls. Feedings were worse. I have gotten rid of her food bowl and instead feed her with different snuffle mats in different places. I found taking her out of her normal space for feedings where she isnt fully comfortable has helped.

My bun as well was very aggressive after her spay. it took about three weeks to calm down. one thing i thought it might have been was that she was just very uncomfortable because of her spay and she just wanted to be left alone, although im not sure of my theory. I would recommend reaching out to Sincerely, Cinnabun and her owner Morgan. She knows a ton about bunnies and might be able to help!

I’ve heard of many cases after a rabbit being fix they turn aggressive temporarily. I believe their hormones get jacked up and from what I’ve been told it’s like a “puberty stage” where they’re super aggressive. The best to do is just to keep calm, take it slow, and within a few weeks they are usually right back to normal.

Same here. I have a male bunny, and he was pretty sweet and chill before his neuter, but afterward he seemed more grouchy, skittish, and started chewing holes in all his fleece pads that I had down for him to lay on. He also started digging poops and litter onto the floor (which he never did before his operation). It's been over a month and a half since he was fixed and things are about the same, so I'm afraid that getting him neutered may have changed his temperament for the worse. In the last 2 weeks he also started to have his first big molt, so I've had to brush him to help it along and he isn't happy about that :(

My female bunny also had a stage of attacking me. She would attack my ankles to the point were they bled. There isn't a way to fix it but the good news is that the reason it's happening is because after a spay a BUNCH of hormones rise in their system and it can last for a couple months after. But trust me it gets better. Now my bun is the sweetest girl ever!

Some rabbits just have feisty demeanors. But if she just had it done recently it takes several weeks for their hormones to settle. I would give her a smaller space to begin with then as she improves slowly enlarge it. If you have girl guinea pigs, they can spray urine out of their cage. Rabbits use their pee and poop to mark their territory as well as chinning. If the guinea pigs' pee and poop is falling into her space, she may be interpreting it as them trying to claim her area. I would just go low and slow. Get down to her level and approach her slowly from the side as their vision isn't that great from in front and above scares them. You got this!

If you take her outside, like where she would be naturally, and let her kinda roam so she can sort of let her get her energy out.
If she is territorial, do scatter feeding and feed her by hand. That way she will not bite you, and be territorial.

I’ve had a rescue free roam rabbit (love of my life) for 3 years now, she’s 6 :) and she was spayed a couple of years ago and she wasn’t aggressive, she’s so loving and we cuddle every day without fail but a couple of times she boxed my hands if id go near her because she had to stay in her pen which isn’t like her but we took it down to the surgery and being confused and having to stay confined so maybe Zero is just a bit mad at you and confused or something? Also she often growls/ nips my boyfriend because he’s the one that has to pick her up and put her in her carry case for the vets so she’s associated him with that but she’s my best friend hahah. So maybe see how she acts with your boyfriend? She could just need a bit more time :)

this is a little late but for your bunny she’s probably going through hormone changes from being spayed. it’s a big change for any animal. when she does bite yell ou really loud. it’ll startle her and eventually she’ll learn to stop biting. also reward for good behavior, like if she goes a day without destroying things give her a treat. i learned that my rabbit learns best from a reward based training. i hope this helps ☺️

You are living my dream life 😂😂😂😂 I aspire to have many animals and to provide for all of them myself. I am autistic and my bunny rabbit helps me when I am anxious about something, like noise, by just sleeping in my lap with his paw over my arm.
I currently have only one pet, my rabbit. His name is Ziva (we thought he was a girl until last week lol, so Ziva is now a unisex name lol), but when I move out, I am going to get more rabbits and get a few other animals too! I am beyond excited! ❤

After doing a lot of research, I’ve seen that if they get spayed they can consistently keep GI Stasis AND change their behavior. It’s made me decide NOT to spay my female bunny.
So sorry you had to deal with her being so aggressive 🥺

You should invest in an extra large salad spinner they’re like $20 and really easy to clean.

Here in sweden breeders have noticed that rabbits can change moods and get agressive if they have brain tumor.
But most likely she is hormonal, it can take 14 days before they get "normal"

When a bunny is misbehaving you can thump at them to let them know you're annoyed, the same way they do, either hitting the ground with your hand or stomping (carefully) on the ground with your foot might show her what she's doing is wrong

I used to do that with my bun but he’s super sassy and loved to dig in his littertray so I caught him doing it one day and made a bang with my hand off the floor to make a stomp noise and he stopped and stared At me it was funny

I have 2 hermit crabs. First off if you get them from a pet store or anywhere that they come from with painted shells give them plenty of new shells to choose from at all times. They just really need out of the painted shells since it's toxic for them. Do not force them out of their old shell though. My crab that came with a painted she'll switched shells within the first week.
Habitat requirements- is 10 gallons per crab, temperature between 75-85°F and humidity anything above 70%. (They cannot breathe properly without humidity and originally lived in a tropical environment). Careful with heat lamps because they can make it difficult to keep the humidity up. You can use them though.
Substrate- at least 6 inches deep since most crabs love to dig and burrow. What is widely used is a mix of eco earth and playsand that you can find at Lowe's if your in the US. Whatever you do, do not get calcium sand or "crab sand" it is extremely bad for them and can harden and get stuck inside their shells.
They'll appreciate fake foliage, and stuff to climb on. My crabs have a large reptile log that they absolutely love and sleep inside it everyday as their "homebase".
They need a 12hr day and night cycle, ALL of their water need to be dechlorinated otherwise they could get sick. At all times they need access to both dechlorinated freshwater and sea saltwater that they can fully submerge in.
Diet- various fruits and vegetables and a source of protein. They don't eat very much but they eat a large variety.
Hermit crabs are also very social creatures but I've heard will eat each other or fight if there isn't enough shells in the tank (recommend at least 3 per crab appropriate for their size or the next size they'll need) also if you have to small of a tank for the amount of crabs. I currently have my 2 crabs in a 35 gallon tank.
Crabs are also a pet to not handle often. They are easily stressed and should only be handled if you put them in a temporary tank to clean the main one, for health checks, or checking the sex which I don't recommend doing for the first month at least since they're getting settled.
Also if you think they aren't alive it is possible they are molting. Or in my case when I first got mine I was not aware that they were nocturnal and I never saw my crab move from the same spot. Turns out he just slept in the same spot every time lol
