THE DIVINE ASSIGNMENT: WHAT'S HOLDING US BACK FROM OUR TRUE MISSION?

The essence of our mission as Christians is twofold: both individual and communal. Through baptism, every Christian is inherently a missionary, tasked with spreading the Gospel.
However, before we are sent out, we are first called to be with Christ, to sit with Him in prayer and communion. This relationship is foundational to our mission, as it forms the basis of any true Christian action.
Drawing on the example of Mary and Martha, we are reminded about the importance of prioritizing our time with Jesus over mere activity. Mary, by choosing to sit at the feet of Jesus, exemplified the correct disposition of a missionary: to be rooted in Christ before engaging in service. Similarly, communities must be formed around prayer and worship, for only by being with God can they truly be in mission.
The examples of the Samaritan woman and the healed demoniac illustrate how personal encounters with Christ lead to mission. After experiencing Jesus ' transformative power, both individuals went out to proclaim Him, fulfilling their calling as missionaries. This same mission is imparted to all Christians, empowered by the Holy Spirit, who gives us the courage to overcome fear and proclaim the Gospel with boldness.
A true mission-oriented life or community is not about status or wealth but about its purpose and commitment to Christ. When we are not actively engaged in mission, we begin to decline spiritually. We as Christians should evaluate if we are truly living out our mission since one day we will stand before the Lord and account for how we spread His message.
Our mission is not optional but it is the purpose of our Christian life.
