The word REANG is a nickname’s of BRU tribes given by British’s durning the 18th century. British’s people have the habits of changing other names. Originally we are called Bru Tribes i.e…why our language’s is also called KAU BRU derived from the word Bru itself. The word BRU means “THE GREAT WARRIORS OF HEAVEN”

In North Tripura, Uchai Embrace Reang Heritage but in South/Gomati, a Push for Distinct Identity Emerges,. This is purely Regional Identity Dynamics. But Uchai community is obviously trying divergent agenda from Bru community.

Yes aibi Uma, the beads are made from a particular type of Banana called "Tangpui thailih" by the Brus. We call the strings of beads as "Tangpui lukoih".
Most probably it was in abundance at one point of time in virgin jungles which now is rare.
Akephuwo khe Tangpui thailih no sapheiye, abo ni mkloi no shu ye, satongwo phraingye se, hlong wo rouhye mlihrieeye, shuhye lawo hingye sayakphiyou.
Abo Tangpui mkloi ni rong khe kchaoh shomshoih ongwo. (The colour of the Tangpui Thailih mkloi is mostly reddish brown to darker shades of brown.)

I have never seen dr. Lincoln Reang in any podcast and in any debate. Thanks Uma for bringing him and letting us know his views on this untouch topic.
He clarified that Reang and uchoi is not a clan in fact it’s a descendants of the two brothers ( I also believe that it can’t be a clan because it seems very unnatural if u compare the term with other clan of Reang/bru) but some Reang activists don’t agree on this topic.
And also the history we got from Reang is not considered 100% accurate and it has been milked it’s because they failed to provide us reference as well as the story are collected verbally and chosen only the specific topic from the story so it is not 100% reliable. But it is not 100% false also.
And the activist are biased towards their tribes. Some activists think that Ratna pha is Reang but they have zero reference on this. This topic should be debated by the historians.
Till today Reangs have been calling as "Pha" to a man after he becomes a father.

It’s a topic of debate many activists think UCHOI and REANG are clan of bru but it seems unnatural but obviously they are related. In a research it is also found that UCHOI also have some sub groups. But it is true that UCHOI and REANG are very close linguistically but it doesn’t prove that they are close genetically. Our team is doing a research on this topic of all the tribal groups based on genetics. We found that KALAI subgroups which belong to Halam community but there genetics is more close to TRIPURI than the Halam itself isn’t it confusing.
