Always a good day when Dennis posts a new video👍 Coming down to Australia in June/July with Qatar economy class. First time with them and picking up an A350-9 and an A380. So to quote the man himself....”Here’s to a great flight”!!! 😉
imho it's a brilliant move. What airline wants another carriers being shown off around the cabin and highlighting to those who might not have thought about the lack of pj's ( 1st time business fliers) on offer. It's an inspired way to, hopefully, make Eti' cut back on the cut backs. #bringbackthejammies
@@callum8147 Actually reminds me of being on a VS LHR-JFK. Went to buy something from duty free and whipped out my BA Amex Premier card & the CC said " you can't pay for something onboard Virgin with that" im mock horror. So I replied "my good lady, when the powers that be produce a like4like product with your name on it then i'll pay with it and probably fly with you more. In the meantime you might like to ask yourself why im not pulling that card. Anywho I digress - #bringbackthejammies
That steak sandwich is truly brilliant, I had it on my Etihad Business flight, on of the best I have ever had. I really like the mood lighting and general feel of the Etihad cabin, it just feels very warm and homely, some carriers feel very futuristic, grey and metallic and it feels too much like a product and not enough like a comfortable experience.
It’s a shame to see all these cost cutting measures. Hopefully, Etihad can recoup some of their losses from Air Berlin etc. and become a top notch carrier again.
it really is sad. To have a $21,000 apartment but offer no mattress or pj in business is truly a shame and doesnt reflect on the former at all. thats very weak branding.
In the scheme of a several-thousand-dollar business class flight, the provision of pyjamas and a simple mattress would cost peanuts. It can feel like a significant loss to the overall experience for a passenger but save the airline very little. I'm not sure what the logic of this is......
Great vid. What I like about your vids is the humility you show with your ability to travel in ways that most of us simply cant. I have seen other flight review channels where the reviewer is full if himself and clearly a putz. There is an American reviewer in particular that is impossible to watch. So keep flying. I have a business class flight on Turkish air this summer from the United States to Europe Looking forward to it. Thanks again for this channel its great and just perfect t for those of us love to travel but cant as much as we want.
I remember doing a simulation in one of my business school classes many years ago. At first I kept prices very low, quality high and invested as much as possible in new capacity. The capacity additions were time-lagged and took some time to become available for use. My market share soared to the point where I dominated the market and I was making a small profit, and all of that was going into new capacity. When I built capacity far exceeding any of my competitors I slashed quality to the bone and raised prices through the roof. Of course some of my customers fled and most wanted to but since my competitors didn't invest in capacity like I did they couldn't accept the new business and the unhappy customers were forced to stay with me. My profits soared to obscene levels and I still had the bulk of the market share. Both my customers and my competitors hated me but there was nothing they could do about it except keep giving me their money. I wonder how many of my classmates work in the airline business now...
The thing that I like about your reviews is that quite apart from the reviews themselves, your inner child is so visible. You must have been a lovable kid! Thank you for the video! They are fools cutting back on those extras. It is things like amenity kits and pajamas, minor in themselves, which draw in the punters!
Wow now that was impressive.Shame Etihad dos'nt sevice Perth any longer. The food inparticular looked amazing on your flight especially the mezza. Im really impressed. Great video Dennis
Another great video Dennis! Thanks for sharing! I booked United Polaris and Lufthansa business class based on your recommendations! My first ever business class flights 🤗 so excited. Hoping to take an Arab airline business class to Aus one day soon too
I was watching a movie at chadstone and I saw an ad for Bunnik Tours. I nearly screamed of joy as Dennis was narrating the video. I still can't believe it....
Hey Dennis, great video as per usual!! I have done the same exact route in 2016 summer, Abu Dhabi -Melbourne A380 Business class and return route being Sydney - Abu Dhabi A380 Business. Enjoyed them both!! p.s it is so nice to see that they still serve the steak sandwich and yes the lounge looks better now!
Thanks for sharing this, Dennis. Had fun watching your video! I am here after watching James Asquith's travel vlog riding the Etihad business class as well :D Hopefully, someday I'd be able to fly with these airlines as well, in the future. Good luck on your next videos! 😊😊
I really enjoy your videos - thank you. I only travel occasionally (2-3 times per year) and your videos provide a great resource in choosing the best options for these trips.
Hi Dennis, really enjoyed your review. Always well put together with that nice sound track. I particularly enjoy reading the wine list at the end - saves on research and you never know when you might see a bottle on sale at your local.
Another great review, Dennis. Having flown the Mideast carriers a fair share myself, I have to say (and hate to say) that the economy is catching up with them as they cut more and more frills from their forward cabin services. As you note, the lack of PJs is a perfect example of this.
Absolutely love your videos! I am traveling to Australia in April from Canada and looking forward to sitting in at least business class! Thanks Dennis for the amazing videos!
Hi Dennis: Thanks for yet another great video that I always find to be very honest without over doing it. fYI, I recently read that a double espresso contains less caffeine than a regular mug of American style coffee! So, drink away knowing you should be able to sleep - you got six hours? Great. Cheers, Colin.
I have had that same issue with the seat cushion failing on two flights. Luckily the crew managed to fix in my case but have seen other passengers reduced to sitting on blankets like you. Other than that Etihad has always been great.
Great to have you back DB on an international flight. Like you I have flown First (suites) and Business Class with Etihad and have always enjoyed the flights. The First Class on the 380 is probably the best flight I have ever had in 47 years of flying! Its a shame about the cost cutting and I hear there is more to come. Also heard a rumour and only a rumour that Emirates were having a very close look at Etihad and their operations? They must find it hard to compete against Qatar and Emirates who seem to be among the most popular and price friendly of the Gulf carriers. Looking forward to your next flight!! Another G and T please!!
Welcom back for 2019 Dennis, still hopping to cross your path in Doha, Larnaca or Singapore this year ! You should publish your plans in advance and organise airport get togethers !!!
Great video Dennis, shortly we are heading out on Etihad from Sydney to Casablanca in business and I am not happy about the drop in the little things that give you the full experience...thanks
Etihad's Boarding Music is my favorite! And, it was "...was conducted by Roger Benedict of the Sydney Scoring Orchestra, a group drawn from the elite musicians of the Sydney Symphony, Australian Chamber, and Australian Opera Orchestras." They used to be my favorite airline. But, they just haven't been price competitive for me lately. As others have said, I hope they can get back on strong footing.
I thought maybe after you notified the crew about your seat, even though business was full maybe they could of thrown you in first? Anyhow shit happens and looks like a great airline. ✌
Great video Dennis! The night flight looked fairly empty? It is interesting watching all of the ME3 cut back on costs. I'm assuming this was always a part of their plan to splurge while they were establishing themselves and then start cutting back on the perks. I still don't really understand why anyone thought it was a good idea for the UAE to have two massive airlines, though. City rivalries and a lot of oil, I guess.
Thanks mate - year the whole EK EY thing doesn't make sense really. Both flights on this trip were chock a block full - the cabin design is great, you don't notice the flight is full.
Dennis! I thought of you the other day. A friend linked me a video about people who think the Earth is flat, and one of the people featured in the video absolutely insisted that direct flights between Australia and New Zealand to Chile were "impossible," and that the Quantas flight he found online must be fake! Now, i would assume that almost everyone who follows travel bloggers are indeed educated enough to know that the EARTH is NOT FREAKING FLAT, but i would be very eager to see a frequent intercontinental flyer such as yourself reassure these "great thinkers" that these flights are real, and that they really need to go back to school.
Good video again Dennis. Yep, a lounge needs a bar to make it a social focal point. QF made the same mistake with their (pointless) lounge. Pity about the cost-cutting. I suspect Etihad will merge with EK one day if the going gets too tough.
Excellent Video as usual. Sadly as mentioned Etihad have done a lot of cost cutting and I was very disappointed with my recent LHR-AUH trip in Business on the A380

Recently flew Eithad business. The seats were problematic. We had to move on one of the legs due to the inflation thing being flat - the seat was rock hard. I found them to be hard even on the fullest setting. The service was very so so, everything seems to be a bother. Perhaps I am comparing them to Qatar which is beyond amazing.
I appreciate you itemising the carrier's many small and increasing failings. There is a strong unconscious incentive to like whatever we paid big dollars for. An upgrade is the only appropriate response to a broken seat unless the next class up is fully booked. This is one symptom of the encroaching meanness and trickiness on Etihad.
Great video, as always, Dennis. As someone with a severe spinal injury which means I can't sit on a hard seat for even 5 minutes without being in agony, I'm glad the folded blanket literally saved your ass!
