Interesting topic Mark. IMO, You're better off managing the risk by carrying on as you do now (don't worry too much and waste money) and have a good attorney in your back pocket in case something does happen. I don't think the problem is exactly as you describe but close, it's not the fact that new laws being stood up (they've likely already been in place), it's that they have never been enforced and that there are not better guidelines or exceptions for certain personas. If the law of the land is not straightforward and clear, it is not very enforceable. BTW, I never condone street racing (nor have you) even though I watch a fair amount of it on YT, it does pose a significant risk to others on the road at the same time. This situation sort of creates a bi-polar scenario where the government is OK with Discovery channel filming and broadcasting street racing to millions of folks on TV but YT creators are somehow fall into a different category or responsibility. The government has a strange way of coming down on a few unfortunate folks when they want to make a statement, and I feel like this is one of those scenarios.

I am with ya. I watch my fair share of it, and hell I was cheering on Street Outlaws this past week since it was some of my friends going up against the OG crew. But yeah, when you sensationalize something, it creates an interest around it, and the success of that show spills over to social media. Some of my favorite car channels show a lot of racing, not all of the, but some. I see the risk that's out there and I'm sure they are making an example of the few they've selected, but I also think it's only a matter of time before some others get hit hard as well.

Honestly, I don't disagree with the fact that people should not be filming in national parks without permission. Would you want a Hollywood production company to be out in a national park with 100 people filming a movie without any oversight? Yeah I get it. RUclipsrs are small private people but at the same time you're making money off your channel and using national parks that taxpayers pay for as a backdrop to make that money. . And if they didn't have insurance and something happens like it did on the movie Rust, should taxpayers be liable? Talk about ruining the experience of nature.
