- Jeremy Clarkson’s long battle with the local council has finally come to an end. How did Jeremy manage to win the case? We have tried to explain everything in the video.
Government tell farmers they need to diversify. Local council does everything possible to stop farmers do this very thing... Even after the law changes.
Those local council members putting up unrealistic obstacles in his way should all be sacked
That’s not only good news for Jeremy but for all farmers around the country
WOW! At last common sense prevails. Fantastic news for farmers and the rural community.
The really crazy thing about the council, was that their biased view of Clarkson could have cost them very very dear. What they never understood, was who would buy the farm if Clarkson had said "up yours I'm selling the farm?" ONLY ONE BUYER. A DEVELOPER. A few quid in the Tory coffers and he'd be away building 400 houses on the land, a school and a shopping area. They have been very very lucky. Oxfordshire council is already trying to fight a developer on another farm that sold. Just shows how brainless the council was.
Well done, Jeremy, and well done by those politicians who approved this.
Its about time the government done something for our farmers who feed the country 🇬🇧 🏴 🏴 🇮🇪
Phenomenal achievement… The guy is a genuine Hero
Jeremy should sue the councillors for lost revenue
The downside to that is that the tax payers end up paying the council's legal costs and any reparations :(
Probably unlikely since it was legal for the council to do that before the new law passed.
And it is likely considered a pure economic loss and usually you can’t claim for things like lost revenue. The case of Spartan Steel vs Martin the claimant could sue for profit lost on damaged metals and the cost of them metals but not for money the factory would have made had it not been taken out of action due to the defendant
West Oxfordshire District Council is going to be furious if Jeremy and all his buddies in the co-operative from Season 3 convert 10 buildings each a-la-Clarkson style - there'll also be heart attacks and apoplexy in the local Parish Council - the ones who started all the opposition. And it'll serve them right too.
Let’s all thank the council for their actions. Without their war against Jeremy this issue would not have gained national attention and likely no action by the UK government would have been taken. It was only because of their stance that this was taken up and changes made at the highest levels of government. Without the attitudes and actions they showed Diddly Squat might have been OK but countless other farmers would still be fighting and losing their own local battles. Everyone should buy them a pint and thank them when they see them!
Thank who ??? Your nutz
Civil Service Sayings
"Anything can be done but nothing should be done for the first time"
"Public departments are there to offer every possible assistance short of actual help"
Very droll, Minister... 😂
The first sensible move from the Government that I've heard of! Hats off to Jezza. 😎👍
Fantastic achievement Jem, well done!! Arise Sir Jeremy 🙏🏻🇬🇧👏👏💪
In life it’s not what you know it who you know and Jeremy Clarkson is good for farming . He will help implement changes which will be beneficial to the farming community.
This is a great decision and Jeremy has put two fingers up to West Oxfordshire District Council and their so called and totalled biased Planning Committee. Jeremy should take advantage of these new rulings and expand and diversify his farm up to the maximum permitted levels. The great news is that these changes can be done without planning consent.
I agree Clarkson has been treated appalling by the council and the new decision to allow him to reopen his restaurant is the right one. However, I am not so sure about this new change in law giving free rights to change building use without any planning permission, it would mean that an old tin farm building on a piece of land near to your property that maybe owned by a certain known community could now become one large dwelling on land that may not be suitable in terms of drainage, sewage, water services this then causing problems to the environment and surrounding area.
Although planning permission may not be necessary I would think building regulations still apply.
Victory for common sense, at least 10 struggling farms were supplying Clarksons restaurant how was the council supporting locals by shutting it down. All because of 1 rich incoming retired lawyer .Run him out of town .
About time. West Oxfordshire District Council's behaviour regarding Diddly Squat Farm has been appalling from the verry start - it's had nothing to do with planning, but has been a personal vendetta to drive Clarkson out. The chairman of the council should be dismissed for his unprofessional attitude - shame on him, and on the rest of the council for supporting him.
The whole irony of this is that WODC is a Conservative Party run Council. picking a fight with one of its party's champions was a bit like Turkeys voting for Christmas.
Brilliant! On ya Jezza and co!. Would have loved to have seen the look on his local councilors mush when they heard the Government changes!... Up yours local Council! 🤣🤣 Nuff said.
The local council wasn't "having issues", the local council was creating issues.
Arise Sir Jeremy Clarkson!!! What he has shown is whilst you do need regulation and councils, there is such an overkill not just on farming but many industries in the UK!!! Well done Sir
100% give Jeremy a knighthood he’s gone more than all the so called celebrities put together
Well done Jeremy...red tape and bullshit has overtaken the UK...love the show
Good that serves the old farts right they have been made to look laughing stocks and the rich instigator should move because the local people can’t stand him.let the village prosper and the ordinary working people do well out of clarkson farm.
Bloody hell some common sense in government, thought that had gone the way of the Dodo. Local Councils are usually elected by a very small % of the voters and you end up with a bunch of clueless lefties bound and determined to woke us. Jeremy for PM
Nice to see the government judging something on common sense rather than politics.
Common sense v stupidity. Thank goodness Common sense won.. Go Jeremy
Well done Jeremy
Make him a Lord then he can really shake things up and make common sense more common !
And allowing this is so much cheaper than supporting them financially, which they said, they would do after Brexit (when the EU stopped doing it.
Anyway, it's a good change. And the gouvernment can continue to stab them in the back, while overloading them with their own bureaucracy, which hasn't changed.
Excellent news. Planing departments often act not in the best interest
He didn't make them change the law, he got a higher authority to recognise that he wasn't breaking any and they didn't have the right to stop him.
He got a ruling at a higher court ant created legal precedent under common Law, therefore changing the law….. should Oxford successfully appeal then they would be changing the law…
Clackson has fought against not in my back yard. Good on him. 😊
All those local jobs that will be created.
I agree but most of the people in the village are standing with one foot in their coffins
Jezza's always been a knob, but he's doing good work, lol.
People should know where their food comes from. Too bad the show's on another streaming channel I'm not going to subscribe to. 😁
Great news, well done, Jeremy
About time ! keep at it Folks
These councils are just HOA's on steroids, huh?
Hear, hear!
About time. Hooray!!
I am being cynical but hasn’t an election just been called. Someone is trying to look good by doing the obviously right thing? At least two ministers should get re-elected. Over here the (Oz) government would have just sacked the council for being so obviously corrupt or biased or just wasting public funds. I write a email to council and the sh*t gets fixed almost pronto, no complaints over councils here. Another reason I left Jolly old England! NSW in Oz
he should get a knight hood
dosent he already have it?
Good show Sir!
When does this take effect ?
All down in one hit housing on farm land
good news
SHOULD BE sir jeremy clarkson
Clarkson and his wife are not low on money, so the court battle is minor. But the court cost for the council comes from tax payers. All that money could have been put to better use. The people coming to the farm travel a long distance to get there which would bring in much more money to the local businesses. i wonder how much more local tax money are they going to spend fighting the farm
Banging you rule Clarkson
The West Oxfordshire District Council sucks. They’re petty and biased towards Clarkson and have screwed him over far too many times now. He could have employed so many people and made many advancements on the farm but because of the council couldn’t.
Honestly, screw the council.
At least make an effoprt to get thje name of his farm correct. It's ' Diddly Squat ' NOT 'Dibbly Squat '.
Councils are sc um.
Why stop at farmers, reform all planning laws
Dumb biased backwoods council had it coming. Good for Jeremy.
