I live in a town with a population of around 40 people. I love it, no one bothers you, theres no crime, and you can walk around outside in your underpants and no one says anything. Its great.

@@music79075 Probably somewhere beyond rural and abandoned over time for one reason or other. Not hard to look up places with small populations.
Everywhere has crime of some kind. It just depends on if those living there consider what they do a crime or accepted people keep deeds to the households.

Best story I've heard in a LONG time, kudos to the author. Also, bonus points for featuring a dog that isn't there to be killed off by monsters. Seriously, this is excellent storytelling. 👏
Oooh! That one was good. For some reason my imagination was going all out on that one, also the weather where I am at is raining, so it fit the feel.
My questions are, how does a town like get shipments and mail if it is constantly shifting around? How has the government not picked up on it being weird? I'm overthinking it, but I just wonder how life in that town is. Any perks to being there?
All good questions.
They probably have someone trustworthy, outside of town, yet quite close to their town and knows what goes down, handle most of shipments, receive it on their behalf, pay on their behalf, etc.
So once the transits are in their favor, they can go to this nearby place, swiftly get the supplies, pay for supplies, pay for their help, etc.
It's not as if they tried to leave their town, in large numbers, for a noticeably long time period, hence the forlorn might not strongly react.

How could they possibly know what happens to people who leave town if they are rarely in the same place twice? And how the hell does anyone in town ever get more supplies, like... gasoline and fireworks, food?
And how on Earth would the station's credit card reader work? Electricity?
Other than that, great story.

Good question.
I think the door, as well as, lock/grill against door, were openable from inside. Might've been set that way, in case they suddenly needed to leave the place swiftly.
Downside being, anyone not thinking straight and trying to flee, can get outside as quick as they wanted.

This might be my town… I would wonder who told but, it doesn’t matter bc they’re never believed. When they’re even sober and aware of where they are to begin with. It’s not a bad place, really. Once you’re used to it.

We live out in the country on 15 acres. My husband loves to salute the morning by taking a piss off the front porch. Hell you can run around naked damn near all day outside if ya wanted to. The mailman is about the only person you may see but he doesn’t mind nudity at all! Thinking about putting an old eagle claw bath tub on the porch so I can play rubber ducky under the stars
