Oh, your edits are glorious. Taking something great and making it even better is hard to do, but you make it look effortless.
The "Chris Farley" pic from Futurama is glorious. I can't breathe.
I wish BanyaBat would return.
I am so fucking happy to hear the return of Dan Thomas’ AMAZING Walken impression after hearing it in A View To A Kill! 100/10 as always Banya.
Where is our Banyabat now?
I've waited for another one of these for AGES!
the christopher walken impression, I mean.
having grown up in the UK during the '70s and '80s I want to say I appreciate you slipping these TV PSAs into the edit.
I got so excited for the Walken voice to come back. Too bad there are no house Nazis or cloning.
"Don't mention the cloning thing, it's kind of a clue."
You guy's canceling him now ?
@@chillhour6155Cancelling who?
I would argue he should be on every movie
Where are you, Banya? Missing your uploads. I hope you're OK!
Overlaying Michael Keaton's salary, while he gave his laughable answer about why he reprised his role as Batman. *chef kiss*
Your editing really does take these wonderful commentary's to a whole other level. Great stuff.
These are excellent edits. I never listened to Smersh podcast, but I love all your edits. Makes me wish you were part of their crew and they were all video podcasts.
You should listen to them. They are on spotify. I recommend the Rising Sun ep.
We're all waiting for a comeback, BanyaBat! Hope you're doing well.
They're currently the in-house editor over for @WrestleMe, I'm not even a wrestling fan but it is a very funny podcast
I was just rewatching some of your older edits and saw this pop up, this episode is one of my favourites! Really glad you covered it and great to see you back : )
You really are going to have to do more movies with Christopher Walken in them. Those impressions are the best. I’ve watched the View to a Kill episode numerous times just for those impressions.
I am so glad you kept the Penguin Dick jokes. I laugh out loud every time.
Ummm factual accuracy, the worlds greatest detective is actually Columbo. Apart from that, great edit!
Very different, but (Jeremy Brents version of) Sherlock Holmes could also fit the bill
The thing with Catwoman is that it's supposed to be ambiguous whether she's supernatural and dies several times or just is just lucky and dies once at the end.
The last shot with her showing up before the credits kind of ruins it but that was a studio addition that Burton didn't want.
I felt the same way, re her showing up. And I wonder if the black cat they stopped to pick up in the alley at the end was supposed to be Selina (as an _actual_ cat)--or was it merely symbolic?
There was going to be a Catwoman film that was scheduled for 1995. You can find the script online.
One thing that doomed "Batman Returns" was Tim Burton originally planned to play up the terror of the children in the cage dangling over the toxic sewage, showing the terrified little kids screaming & crying as the cage lowered slowly into the toxic waste. But the studio put its foot down when it came to terrified toddlers, so the cage remained stationary and in the background. The focus was switched to the corny penguin army, with rushed re-shoots, but even then the penguins only committed property, and not a single citizen of Gotham suffered so muxh as a scratch. That's when Burton passed on his option to do a 3rd Batman movie.
Too bad because it looks like it would have been a lot better than Schumacher's junk.
Another smashing success of an edit. Bravo old bean.
Any hope we can see some more from you soon man? Especially for Christmas? You were going really strong in 2022 and then all of a sudden you just stopped. I’m really looking forward to more of the Smersh pod James Bond and Harry Potter adventures!
Just love the editing, hope your doing well...
For years i thought i was the only one that noticed the eye shadow gone before he rips off his mask. I'm happy now 😆. Also The Christopher Walken impressions are absolutely hilerious
His fruit roll up mask...Yeah 😅
Thank you so much for doing this! I came from the rlm commentaries and was pleasantly surprised by these guys. Could you do the "Quantum of Solace" commentary next? It has the Welshman and alot of really good bits!
The ones with Joel Morris are my favourite
@@Bale4Bond My favourites our either the snake boys saga with Tom Neenan and Crowley or any of the Paul Litchfield ones.
@@obiwankenobi9141 the earlier Bond commentaries feauturing Joel Morris are SmershPod's cream of the crop.
At this point they still enjoyed talking about Bond and there isn't the obligatory, eye-twitchign Trump-joke thrown in out of left field.
@@Bale4Bond Your poor feelings.
@@ThreadBomb No need for your exercise in fragility.
I still enjoy listening to all of Smershpod and i can tolerate a difference of opinion, unlike you apparently.
This is gold! Thanks.
Max Shreck's power plant designed by Ralph Wiggum.
I remember being a kid, loving the ‘89 Batman, seeing this one in the theatre w my family… and genuinely being disturbed & confused. I questioned my love of Batman… until The Animanted Series brought back my faith 😅
I forgot this channel existed for a bit cos i've just been binging wrestle me (I've never watched wrestling in my life but god damn those fuckers are funny) so i'm stoked to see another upload here.
Just wondering if we'll get a vid for the smersh pod Harry Potter 3 episodes?
Never said enough how great your editing is
Love your edits, rewatched them all multiple times, bloody good work man 👌
Ya boyz at it.Lobe your editing over at wrestle me
Thanks very much, hope you enjoy!
ahh I love a good edit from my boi banyabat, good to see you alive and kicking
The Christopher Walken impression is literally the funniest thing I've heard for fucking ages, hahahaha
In my opinion, Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman is miles beyond any leading lady in the Nolan Batman films. She actually feels like a three dimensional human being instead of a mere love interest.
This is correct, not opinion, objective fact.
This is because Nolan can't write women for shit. They're plot devices; this extends even to my favourite of his films in The Prestige. Both women in that are just plot devices.
You’ve done it again. Legendary edit. Bonus points for the Always Sunny references
Man I love this channel. Thanks for all the hard work you do!
Cheers 🍻
another Banya Banger
1:32 The camera flashes casting a shadow on the (already very obvious) matte painting background is an underrated moment. Great job Mr. Burton!
Neath has forgotten penguins hah 😂 I can confirm this as being from Neath Port Talbot.
Guess who's back?
Back again.
Banyabat.
Tell a friend.
I always loved how everyone in this movie is such a fucking weirdo
Not in a world where Batman and Robin exists.
please please we need more. I tried to go listen to Smersh Pod and its just not the same.
The side by side of batman and the room when talking about sets. Chef's kiss
the penguin with his knob out is the funniest image.
I don't like how the 4K transfers of Batman and Batman Returns are very blue. Kind of the reason I'm still sticking to the blu-ray releases.
Been watching your videos for a while now.
Love your editing.
More banya bat reviews please!
You got me into Smersh mate, good job!
You're not the mayor.
Most of the views on your 'A View To A Kill' review are probably me due to the Walken impression. Delighted that it has returned
I’ve got the chops
HURRAY! BanyaBat is a angel!
If they only reviewed Christopher Walken movies, I would be happy
23:48 The must-have in every modern gal's closet: a chunky double-oversized sleeveless sports coat in a jumbo tweed and 8-inch notched lapels.
Love the edits mate. Once it's always sunny came in I got real happy
Give us more content ,Mr Bat!
I like this. I think it's good.
I've never seen that Batman Metro commercial. I'm a better man now for it.
Every so often the response to something in my house will randomly be- why does he have his knob out!
😂
Any excuse for Dan Thomas to break out his Walken impression is fine by me.
This movie is one of my favourites but the Smersh fellas are so funny I don't mind them slagging it cause it's all so good.
First time here - your Walken impressions had me creased 😂
Too funny
Also, ‘a Meat Sporran’ fml 🤣🤣🤣
Awesome. Can't get enough of these and Wrestle Me. Cheers BanyaBat.
are you guys ever going to go back to doing red letter media commentary?, cause i do miss seen those, like i do go back from time to time just to watch them on here, but you guys need to do more of them
What a great re-edit 👍 On their point about the sets, I recollect that the first film was done in England, while the second movie was filmed in L.A. and they had to rebuild the sets at a much much smaller scale because the backlot was so much smaller over there. If I recall correctly they did replicate the basic layout but it was incredibly shrunken compared to the first film.
I too dislike this movie. Yes, the script is crap, but what I really hate is just the look of it. It was a different cinematographer from the first one (who was the brilliant Roger Pratt). The new guy (Stefan Czapsky) makes everything look cheap and small, and the colour palette is that of a frozen corpse. That cold, ugly look might suit an arty drama set in a concentration camp, but it's bizarrely inapt for a Batman movie with such cartoony performances.
I wholeheartedly agree with your dislike of this movie. However, my primary focal point of disgust was on that unimaginably _ridiculous_ insertion of the grotesque Penguin character. Unlike The Joker (in a previous Batman), you don't "love to hate him"; you just wish he (the Penguin) wasn't there.
@@philmenges9887 Oh, I definitely agree about the ridiculously grotesque Penguin. It's just very gross for no good reason. Totally inappropriate for a story set in the world of Batman, unless one's purpose is to mock and degrade it. (And I am normally one to defend a very wide range of interpretation of the material; I even think Jared Leto's Joker was okay.)
Right back atcha, of course. Even arch _villains_ should exude some sense of *style*... but the 300 pounds of UGLY, in the embodiment of that gawd-awful penguin character, just did not _work_ ! He (it) best served as inspiration for Catwoman’ s comment, “I wouldn’t touch you to _scratch_ you.”
Being honest, the original film from 89 felt like a disconnected series of Things That Happened (tm). Not a lot of connective tissue...
I agree with that but it is driven by theme and that is, the Hell of living in an urban environment.
Unmatched still
Bro, this is hilarious 😆
Grandmaster editing as always!
41:29 It was already so funny when you compared the Penguin to Rudy Giuliani in the first place, but when you see him on the bed and the guys joke that he's about to masturbate and he is in the bedroom with Catwoman, that's another Rudy Giuliani parallel I didn't see coming! Like in Borat 2: Subsequent Moviefilm!
I ❤ your edits
Awesome job so funny keep up the good work 👍
Pretty good...not mayor material though!
I love all these banyabat! Excellently edited.
YYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS!
You're amazing. Thanks sooooo much.
Your videos BanyaBat are next level in fun. Thanks.
4:55 update: Tim Burton is now dating Monica Belucci…
Lucky bastard
Oh Jebus, please 🙏 please bless this old dog with a with a Halle Berry Catwoman BanyaBat edit...
Omg this had me nearly in tears tears. Well done.
I'm only here for the editing.
Fully agree on the scale - given the success of 89 Batman you expect a bigger budget for the sequel - and maybe they got one but it wasn't spent on Gotham. It feels smaller - and where are they? Lighting the tree at Gotham Plaza is one thing but the Mayor does press conferences there. They established City Hall in the first one, shouldn't those be done at City Hall? I get they wanted it to look different, and they could have put a new twist on the City Hall they established in 89 - but instead everything happens in or near this one city square.
First time I saw this movie, I was sick in the hospital. I always found it a bit off putting, and yes I also noticed the duck continuity error even as a kid.
do EVERY SINGLE RedLetterMedia commentary....PLEEEEEEEASE?!??? 😢
For some reason, the bit "And Commissioner Gordon, the most useless man in the world" always makes me laugh so hard. I guess it's because it comes out of nowhere in the middle of a sentence.
Tim Burton should feel ashamed for this.
Been on tenterhooks waiting for your new video
You guys need to review all of Christopher Walken’s movies.
u guys remind me of the radio hosts from god help the girl
Brilliant!
Please make more, I'll donate to a patreon
Where has the master editor gone? Would love to see GoldenEye. Thank you so much.
Absolutely Fantastic!
The return of the killer Walken impression 😂
Seeing this on my notifications forced me to watch Batman Returns. Just so I could have context for your review. My complete lack of cultural awareness or nostalgia made it one of the most enjoyably bad movies I have seen since The Roller Blade Seven. My favorite scene, if only for the bad Foley work, is when Batman rescues the ice princess and confronts Catwoman.
No wonder the spiral bomb didn't blow up the Batmobile..They had the Haynes Manuel, not the Chilton...That one had more wiring diagrams and full color pictures of the steps for repairing including the hand holding which wrench you need in the corner..
Saw Batman Returns in the theater, hated everything that wasn't Batman and Catwoman, rewatched it this past Christmas, felt the same way. Great production values, score, etc. but man, the Penguin and Circus of Crime is a blight on the film, and the overall plot is idiotic.
When I was 8, I loved Penguin and the Circus gang above everything else. At 36 years old, I don't feel the same way. The film DESPERATELY needed to focus more the genuinely intriguing and sad relationship between Bruce and Selina.
20:00 what the hell is up with the Guliani in drag clip? Can someone provide backstory?
Originally SCHREK was Billy D. and became TWO-FACE but that heathers dude changed the structure far too much negating the whole Harvey/Billy d casting from the first film. Deciding instead to intro the new SCHREK character. But I certainly agree may not be the best Batman film but it is the best Burton film without a doubt.
I always felt symbolism with the SCHREK/felix the cat like mascot the stores of his have. Is it synonymous with the character a la his bag of tricks? SCHREK always has a trick up his sleeve after all.
Meow
Great work!
This really was a crap sequel. Entertaining, sure, but it’s small scale, uncomfortable and nothing makes sense.
The heels during the flips are collapsible false heels
Batman murders so many people is this movie.
