I am also a topper but never done this with my friends i always being honest with them, but I see most of my topper friends that they say they are not studying but and they top they do because they wanted to decrease competition

As a topper (of course of school, don't ask me how to clear jee) , let me break it to you:
1. Most toppers who say I study 1-2 hrs a day are actually NOT LYING to you. It simply means that their basics are clear and they find it easy to grasp new concepts as their brain is already primed enough to grasp it, "The rich becomes richer and the poor becomes poorer". Mind you, it doesn't mean that you should also try to mimic them as what suits them might not necessarily suit you.
2. Also yeah, I have seen such kids who lie about their study hours but that is mostly because they want to show off their intelligence.
