I remember them performing this at The Fillmore in San Francisco and the whole crowd was jumping in unison to the beat! I was almost worried the floor would collapse the way the place was shaking! What an awesome memory!
I used to listen to this song when I studied abroad at Waseda in 2001. I came back to the US and saw them perform live at Amoeba Records in Hollywood. I got to speak to both of them in Japanese after the show when they did a CD signing.
Little known fact about Puffy Amiyumi, they were fans of Rodney Greenblat’s Thunder Bunny character (Rodney Greenblat is the same guy that made parappa the rapper) and even helped translate the books and had Thunder Bunny appear on some of their album covers! Those album covers were also drawn by Rodney Greenblat. But yeah, I know way too much abt both of them :3
