    25:50 I think it's important to remind everyone that when you put down one of your bags, anything that was in the corresponding slots in your inventory will be left behind with the bag. I've seen several new players forget that the bags *are* your inventory slots and lose items. It happens when they get a bigger bag, throw the old one on the ground, become confused at not being able to pick it up again because it has items in it, and allow it to despawn with everything inside it.

      Great point! I think I touched on that back when we upgraded from reed baskets to the hunter's packs, but it's been a while both for me and the series, so the reminder is nice!

    I think nuisances can have value in survival games. As long as it's something you can overcome and stop from being a nuisance permanently. It makes progress feel more rewarding.

    • @Kurazarrh
      @Kurazarrh  2 года назад +3

      The "stop from being a nuisance permanently" is the part that I'm still waiting for. There are some threats that get downgraded once you have decent armor (like wolves) but I really need some kind of cologne that will keep them from attacking me in general... XD

    • @Niyucuatro
      @Niyucuatro 2 года назад +1

      @@Kurazarrh Would be nice to find a way, yes. But i was speaking generally.
      One good example is making the first windmill in better than wolves. You have to manually use a stone mill with a hand crank to process a lot of material to make the first windmill, but once you make the first one, you can hook the stonemill to the windmill and forget the handcraft forever. It takes a lot of time and food, since using the hand crank rapidly decreases your food meter. But you get a really high sense of acomplishment since it's a high jump in tech and you don't have to do it ever again.

    • @Kurazarrh
      @Kurazarrh  2 года назад +3

      @@Niyucuatro Ah, yes. Vintage Story has many similar progressions... also mostly associated with wind power! For me, nuisance reduction is more things like controlling mob spawns, and other interruptions that get in the way of doing whatever I'm trying to do. At some point, I just want to build without being bothered! XD

    • @Niyucuatro
      @Niyucuatro 2 года назад +2

      @@Kurazarrh Yeah, to make that in better than wolves you just build walls, and light areas or replace the surfaces for wood. Going out is still dangerous, but you can feasibly tame a region to be safe all day in it.

    • @Kurazarrh
      @Kurazarrh  2 года назад +1

      @@Niyucuatro That would be awesome in VS. The rifts that spawn drifters won't spawn in areas that have above a certain level of *artificial* light (they can spawn in broad daylight). But they won't spawn drifters unless the rift itself is in darkness. But if it is, it can spawn in drifters anywhere within 25 or so blocks, whether or not they're lit. So you need to light up a WIDE area around your home if you don't want drifters spawning inside your home or basement! >.

    I’m stuck right about here. Bees are hard to find. No borax or bauxite either. It’s hard to travel far enough enough in a day or two even without the dangers of wolves and creatures

    • @Kurazarrh
      @Kurazarrh  2 года назад +4

      It's a challenge, but if you can find a static translocator and repair it (assuming you have better luck than I do!) then it might open up new areas for you! Also, if you're traveling a long distance, my recommendation is, instead of carrying a crock with some food in it (or multiple crocks), just bring a cooking pot and your bowl. If you hunt every 3-4 days and pick up wild onions & berries, you can easily live off the land rather indefinitely on long outings!
      Bees are actually a lot more common than they seem, but finding them can be a challenge. If you have some good headphones (especially over-ear cans), wearing them while exploring can be a great help!

    So, I just found this series like, yesterday, and I've been binging while working on keyboards for my fiance's etsy shop. How do you find so much Terra Preta??? I can barely find any! Must be with the Limestone...

    • @Kurazarrh
      @Kurazarrh  2 года назад +3

      Mostly, I get terra preta by adventuring and just keeping my eyes open! Granted, we also got that surprise windfall in an earlier episode while digging the farms. I think you'll find that if you travel ~1-2km in a direction and back the same route a few times (say, on resource-gathering trips), you'll spot a few terra preta deposits along the way. It helps if you deviate from your route slightly, to get a marginally different angle on the terrain, while your brain gets used to the terrain and you have the mental space to look for resources (terra preta) instead of holes and other dangers!

    • @NipapornP
      @NipapornP Год назад +1

      Yes, deviate your traveling routs is an important thing, and at different times, you get different (sun)light angles, which makes it much more easier to find terra preta, when the light comes from behind you, as it then has a high contrast to the light brown soil.
      AND: Terra preta isn't that "holy grail" you need to have. You can grow crops on every soil as well, just a bit slower. With some fertilizer and daily watering with a water can, it's nearly the same. You can always exchange blocks later on, when you find terra preta somewhere. Patience is the key! ;)

    Quick question: You showed how to back up your player data with /genbackup, but how do you restore it?

    • @Kurazarrh
      @Kurazarrh  2 года назад +3

      Good question! I can only answer this question if you're on Windows, but if you go to your Vintage Story data location (default: %appdata%\vintagestorydata), your save files are located in \saves, and your backups are located in \backups. You can just copy the backup you want back into the saves folder and launch the game. It'll show up in the list of saved games.

    • @NipapornP
      @NipapornP Год назад

      IMHO, you need only a few (4 or 5), but mark their places and harvest every 4 days, which is important to get the tree producing new resin again. That will be just enough resin (20-30), when entering the "mechanical" age, to mechanize the basic machines.
