How to write Love in Arabic Calligraphy by Jaha.
Ottoman School Arabic Calligraphy.
A quick video on how to write the word 'Love' in the classical Thuluth script.
Pen used: Bamboo (hand cut)
Inks: Windsor & Newton
Paper: Gloss paper
Preparation: Make sure ink is prepared, have some cotton or tissue for blotting. A pencil and ruler helps to give accurate results.
Technical Terms: Nuqta is the measurement system used in traditional Arabic Calligraphy. It is slightly bigger than a square/ like a rhombus. The nuqta represents the width of the pen nib - this helps you determine the correct length of each stroke.

Assalamu alaykum (hello!) My name is Jaha and I am an Arabic 'Islamic' Calligrapher, Artist & Designer.
My passion since 2011, has been studying the traditional route of Ottoman Islamic Calligraphy (Arabic Calligraphy) and I am a student in the classical master's program, Istanbul-Turkey (final stage 'inshallah'- total 10 years of study)
My content is focused on classical study of the magnificent Arabic scripts including Thuluth and Naskh - which I have dedicated most of my time studying.
Having spent over 5 years of Naskh study, I am now able to write the Quranic Script with the rules of the Ottoman Calligrapher - Muhammad Shawqi Efendi محمد شوقي افندي1827-1889 (rahmatullahi alayh) - recognized as the most celebrated Islamic Calligrapher of all time. I am now on the intense study of Thuluth - the Queen of all scripts, and will hopefully show you how beautiful this script is in lots of videos to come!
The intention to join youtube is to help fulfill and share the journey and my passion. I write calligraphy every day and most mornings, evenings are dedicated to practicing and trying to perfect the art form.
