No headphones at hand, listening on crappy iPad speakers. The Sennheiser sounds much more detailed. RFI issues are common on most budget SDCs as far as I know.
the 416 does a much better job in my opinion for directional sound and rejects because of the long interference tube. The MKH 50 would be second and the AT coming in third. Hope that helps
Hey Tom top quality comparison again. After asking about mke 600 and AT875R I've decided to go with the mke 600. But now I'm torn between AT4053B and mke 600 😅. Where I live -turkey- the AT4053B is 659$ and the mke 600 is 430$. I will be using the mic both indoors and outdoors, for basically everything, for yt videos and short content. and I will pair it up with the zoom F3 just like you. do you think it'd be worth paying the extra for the AT4053B? I can also get a 7 year old used mkh 416 for 736$ but its just a bit out of my budget and i kinda think starting with a really good mic might not be a good idea somehow? Idk if im making sense haha. Anyway, if you were in my situation, what would you do? thanks a lot in advance
If it’s possible to get both the 600 and the AT4053b that’s what I would do. It would cover you for both indoor and outdoor work and give you different mics for different talents. If you could only have one, I would save for the 416
Do you turn the Lp filter on or off on the microphone? When I use the microphone, I always leave it off. I bring the microphone as close as I can to my mouth, without letting it appear in the camera image. By the way, do you think it's better to leave it off all the time? Sometimes the sound is very bassy. In this case, will the sound be ruined or is it enough to just reduce the bass in post-production? (Sorry for my English. I did this using Google Translate.)
@@TomWadeCine it does sound a lot better there. I just thought it would be good to keep in mind for other productions where your audience may be only watching on a phone
Bullshit, IF you want to start making money doing audio but have a low budget, the 4053b is totally fine for interviews. If you cant afford the mkh50, try the csm1, but you will get more sibilance on female voices. If you can't afford either the 4053b is a good start.
Do you ever use the 50 outdoors? What wind protection do you use? I am thinking about the Bubble Bee spacer bubble. Also stock foamie with dead cat on that seems to work pretty well too
Wow I could hardly tell a difference even on my good headphones while straining my ears to hear. AT4053B is a bargain compared to MKH50 but I admit the more I listen the more I hear that fulller Sennheiser sound flavour.
both excellent mics and I often rotate between them depending on the talent and which mic fits their voice best. Thanks for watch and please consider subscribing if you haven't already.

thanks for the input
Thanks for sharing. How does the sound rejection of the 4052b compare to the 50? Not as good I guess, but would it reject better than the 416?

@@TomWadeCine Thanks! opting for the 416 then 🙌

I keep the low cut off. Both mics are flat
Presets sounded worse than raw on high frequencies on my phone speakers. A bit distorted high freq noises. Just something to keep in mind
It’s best not to listen to these video on your phone speakers.
Listen on high quality headphones. Cheers!

If you are a location sound professional, then get the MKH50. If you are not making money from audio, get the 4053b.
totally agree!
