- "I've Gotta Get a Message to You" is a rock ballad by the British rock band Bee Gees. Released as a single on September 7, 1968, it became their second number-one single on the UK Singles Chart, and reached number eight in the US, became their first top-ten hit in Billboard Hot 100 chart in their music career. In the United Kingdom the song was released as a single only. The song appeared on the US edition of the Bee Gees' third album Idea, but not in the United Kingdom, where the Vince Melouney track "Such a Shame" appeared instead.

My dad would listen to his BeeGees records on a Sunday afternoon in the 70s, then we’d go swimming, and then visit my grandmother for Sunday dinner. This takes me right back there to that golden time. Now...it’s 2021, I’m 53 and the world is crap!

Robin actually sounds superhuman in this video. His voice hasn’t deteriorated in the slightest since 1968! It’s very beautiful and impressive.

I suspect the inventor of AutoTune got the idea after hearing the pitch perfect harmonies of The Bee Gees. It still took computer software another 20 years to come in second place to these lads.

I love the BEE GEES!! But,....there are many groups that can Harmonize as well as the brothers Gibb. Mostly older acts, think Mills Brothers, Andrews Sisters, Beach boys! But no one else is the Bee Gees!! I feel so sorry for Barry not having his brothers and compadres in music.. I used to play in a vocal harmony oriented group, and it left a huge hole in me when the group disbanded. And, I didnt do it for 50 years with my brothers!!! God Bless Barry Gibb!!!
I love the Bee Gees don't get me wrong, but Three Dog Night, though they wrote few songs, had great harmonies as well!

This is the most beautiful song ever and such great talent. Song is about man on death row but could also be about anyone who wants to get a message to anyone they love. With time being limited leading to intense desperation. Their intense voices convey all emotion. Thank you Bee Gees for bringing some joy and happiness to our lives.

The Bee Gees were the greatest bar none in my opinion. Their music will live on long after we are all gone. What a great legacy they've left. The world is not the same without them.

Performer's dressed professionally back in this era. Also, we actually had ppl who could really sing., like the Bee Gees.
Oh no they didn't; Not all anyway. Up until very late in the 1960s most bands were wearing identical costumes still. By the '70s that was no longer the case because I suppose performers dislike being dressed like idiots. There were some big hair bands who still coordinating their clothes but not very many. Ironically performing in a business suit and tie is never appropriate; if a singer is going to wear a tie on stage it should be a bow tie with a formal tuxedo. I only mention this because we were taught by the nuns what was vulgar and what was not in every possible situation and somehow that was counted as English lessons. At home and at school teachers and parents prefered that you be felonious rather than vulgar (although felonies still got you into pretty serious trouble). It was a bit odd because my family had absolutely no pretensions of being genteel or have any social standing. We were quite poite though and my siblings and I always know how to hold a wine glass properly. A great many people will agree with you more than with me. My explanations tend to lean towards stupidity, but I'm still right just about all the time. (That is a joke; a lame one but still a joke and I don't really think Im right all the time. "

@@drdrew3 I have but thank you for your concern. A little tidbit that is not irrelevant to the conversation is that psychiatric medications are rarely fast acting (except anti-anxiety meds). You would not notice anything different from a person who had not taken their meds until at least a week had passed but usually longer. I can't say as there is any obvious connection between my post and your reply but I'm guessing it was meant to be clever. It was not.

That's true to degree but their wonderful music is fortunately still with us. I can't be sure that my very fond memories of them are not helped a fair bit by the fact I was very young in those days and everything seemed possible. They have most certainly held up over time much better than other acts that I liked those years.

Worst thing by myself at 37. 48 now & a lot of life happens. Still have our cat. We dance to Bee Gees. Just make sure I don't step on him. Husband is always with us. I don't know what will happen when cat leaves me. He's a 13 yr old shiny, silver gray boy with chopped off tail. Showed up at our house in turmoil in 2007. He loves Bee Gees. R.I.P Robin and Mo Gibb we miss you, tears. I wish I could have known what Mo's singing voice sounded like but his brothers never seemed to give him a turn in the spotlight. But man does Robins angelic voice ever give me the shivers and tingle down my spine. Not taking away from Barry who was also blessed with an amazing voice too, I'm just not quite so moved as I am with is as I am with Robin's.
That is what I am always saying and I am glad you know it too that Mo's brothers never gave him a chance to be in the spotlight. How come he never got a chance to sing one of his lead vocals in any Concerts.
