Lovely review as always. Although, I have zero performance issues with this one. Easy 8 hours. Typical old school amouage. The ingredients list is so anamalic it hangs around all night. Pungent. I love the stuff. So don’t be afraid on performance. Perhaps AC didn’t get the full representation.
Never knew the impact just spraying 1 spray can have you really can test the development without overwhelming the nose , great review with class and excellent delivery as always
Hello AC, very good review! Most probably you have tested the current formulation - watered down under the reign of Mr Salmon. I have the same and true, projection is very weak, I use ten sprays and only when people are very close to me they can feel the scent. A bit. It is said that Mr Chong"s formulation was a real beast in performance, I guess people who are happy have older formulations.

I love this fragrance. I get better performance than you do. I sprayed it on and my wife could smell it from 10 feet away. She could still smell it on me from at least five or six feet away 3 hours later. It lasts 8 to 10 hours on my skin, so I am very pleased with the performance.

I’m wowed that you are disappointed with the performance with Overture. This is actually one of my fragrances that keeps going and going. I’m get a confident 9 hrs rolling into 10 before the full skin scents dry down dissipates. I actually wore this last night and woke up to traces of it. Also AC… sniff Overture Woman… I actually think it’s a tad better for wear than Overture Man and I have a back up of it so I’m taking nothing away from OM. Thank you for your reviews of elegant fragrances over the years and Bell Well.
@@ACSmellsGood Journey is great too, but Royal Tobacco is a whole other level & a completely different scent, with its strong notes of liquorice, birch tar & vanilla. Ambery & smokey, too. Another masterpiece from Cecile Zarokian. Definitely worth sampling first, as you really have to like this type of scent.
Nice review AC. I’m testing a 2ml sample of this at the moment. I’m reminded of two frags, not that they’ve anything like this, but the booziness reminds me of Pasha and the animalic from Hugo Boss no. 1. I’m on the fence if it’s FB worthy given the price!
I agree with both of your points , it has the civet from No 1 , but in a depth which is modernised with Grapefruit to some extent and definitely has the boozy character of Pasha Parfum. If like me you value where your money truly goes, I would get a decant. That way you could probably get 20 other Amouages ( or other brands and fragrances of your choice) at the same expense.

Both are beautiful scents and I'd say it wouldn't be a redundant buy for either. Have only smelled royal tobacco once but it blew me away with the quality. However, I still lean towards overture man. It depends on the experience you want
Loved Royal after a few wears. Still love it. Overture made me recoil a lot over first few months of revisiting. But now, it is up there with Royal. And the way it KEEPS growing on me, it might overtake it. I have two bottles of both. So yeah, these are great

This fragrance is certainly not a skin scent after an hour or two on my skin. It’s an absolute beast on me.

My favourite from the house (maybe even from any house). Although Royal Tobacco & R45 are pretty close behind.
Glad to hear that. I am thinking of sampling Royal Tobacco for sure, but I already like the Tobacco note in Journey so not sure if I should.
