Surprisingly good movie. Dutch horror movies have improved overtime. This one feels genuine Dutch , not fake Hollywood .Natural acting and a solid story.
Fantastic horror movie that is more concerned with character and atmosphere than shocks or gore. It has more in common with classic horror movies of old than the more modern stuff. And I can't say enough good things about how Shudder has revitalized the horror genre.

Wow, this was actually very good. Slow indeed but that's not a default. Some scenes are actually really scary (that's been a long time). And that ending ... Perfect !
This was really good! It was definitely a slow burn but managed to not feel boring and sluggish. I really REALLY hope there's a sequel.

@@sem2669 the sugar hint was something she told the guy that was the head of the people researching and digging that her “mother” was always stealing sugar packs and collecting them. So even though she was there in her own body form I believe it was the spirit of her mother. Because remember towards the end of the movie her mother was sacrificed.

If your here looking to see if its worth the watch. Let me tell you, this movie for me gave me some hope in horror films for the future. Second film ive seen from shudder and its fucken 💯 id give this film a solid 8/10 not only was it scary but the storytelling was really good.

Hahaha I'm glad I'm not the only one who was watching this video while looking for my black and white checkered handkerchief with a map with a pizza on it. I think I might have left it on Podestas kitchen aisle by the fieldhouse. Oh well I'll grab it next time I'm playing checkers with him. En Europe, si certains pays mettaient autant de financement que les productions américaines pour les films d'horreur, je pense vraiment que les gens arrêtaient de regarder les film d'horreur américain. Même les allemands viennent de faire un film d'horreur pas mal du tout à voir. On était déjà habitué à toujours voir des bon films d'horreur avec les espagnols, mais voila que les allemands s'y mettent aussi. Pour ceux qui aiment le genre, vous pouvez le voir sans hésiter. Vous serez même surpris tellement il est bien.

I had a really hard time with the ending. Like... I got done watching the movie where the curse lives on and the main character abandoned everything she loves to live a shit life as a possessed husk of her former self, with her literal spirit looking in as an old hag who was supposed to fucking die hundreds of years ago gets to raise her daughter, then eventually pass on the curse.. And then I get to go back to a world where the curse lives on and a lot of people are forced by society to abandon everything they love and live a shit life to make ends meet. Good movie. Just reflects real life too much for me right now. Left me feeling angry, bitter, and depressed instead of scared. To be clear - it's a good movie, just a real feckin downer. Would not recommend to depressed people.

The overall atmosphere is creepy 😳
But I think they stretched a suspenseful short movie type theme into something long and boring. The main actress is cute and lovely. You'll have to watch the 5 minutes of ending to understand the entire plot except some useless scenes that make no sense.
As an experienced horror fan, I would give it 6/10. I would suggest you to watch it.

I appreciate the movie not resorting to all the cheap horror tropes, but it was very boring and ultimately forgettable. The story was solid enough, and may have been more effective if read and not seen. All the “scary” parts were over saturated with fog and cheap cgi to the point that it took me out of the movie. Seeing a bunch of naked people standing in the woods is a scary image, but when you make all of their skin abnormally white, give them “zombie eyes” and add a bunch of fog in post production, it makes it feel almost cartoonish. I wish more movies would take a raw approach when it comes to visuals, instead of overdoing everything. Just my opinion tho.

I had high hopes for this movie but there were a lot of loose ends that were never followed up on in it. It was a pretty dull watch and that corny cgi monster sitting on the couch at the end was giving ‘Goosebumps’ haha. Not the worst movie, but the plot just made very little sense, not even in an “open to interpretation” type of sense.

''Spoilertalk'' I liked the movie but it had too many plotholes that made no sense. Moloch in this movie wanted to go from mother to mother through generations but men was enchanted and wanted to kill the Moloch, WHY..?? WHO ENCHANTED THEM TO DO SO??? When the Moloch in the end is shown to have FULL CONTROL of its vessel and other worshippers was in on it.. It felt like all of the horror in this movie was made up to actually have something happen, other than in the beginning and the end of the movie when the Moloch actually does something. The movie felt solid but SLOW and I wanted to give it a high rating but plotholes made it very questionable and the Moloch is quite boring, it cuts its vessels throat and that is it for horror.. I give this movie 5/10, it is a decent watch if you enjoy slow movies but I mentioned plotholes because not much is explained, you just have to guess what is going on, it explains a little but walking zombie men digging and doing stupid things made no sense, what was the point of them doing what they did.. The actors in this movie were great though, they made the movie very watchable.
The men received whispers from the dead women who were replaced/sacrificed to Moloch. They are trying to put an end to the cycle by ordering the men to kill the mom prematurely. They are digging so the bodies could be discovered. And that is Feike who possessed her at the end not Moloch,thats why it looks like a woman. She is in a cycle of revenge, because technically they are all descendants of Helen's body. Possessing and sacrificing every 30 years. I got confused too, but I searched it on Google and Reddit.

I think you lack few brain cells sweetie. Nothing is Senseless in the story. It's feiki who possesses the women not Moloch. The souls are trying to end this curse from their generations by killing the feiki using men as vessels but she escapes everytime. At the end betrick almost escapes but because she tells her plan to her mom i.e feiki she loses. Joron knows the truth now he might help Hanna in the future If he digs it well which is a good spot for a sequel
