Thanks for doing a detailed walk-through of this expedition! Don't know if you've got these types of videos for the other expeditions, but that would be incredibly helpful, especially for the mutated versions.
Update: Since this video, I've figured that running full Opal instead of Onyx in this expedition makes more sense due to the mages and other magical dmg sources (ice, lightning, fire + void (slicer) and nature from mutation) from regular mobs and bosses having very few physical mechanics. That means if you can afford upgrading 2 sets, having a full ruby set for bosses is actually worth it, too! I give this Dungeon a 9.5/10. Very well thought out dungeon. The last boss is a whole new meaning of cracked. Very fun but isnt dragged out so you can run multiple times in an hour which is nice.
What has worked great for me is the Platform he is standing on in the beginning its much much wider than the other 2 platforms, I tank him on one extreme corner and the Healer stands on the other extreme corner with this he never rushes the healer only the DPS on the other platforms letting the healer have more control of his surroundings and not getting taken out mid cast. The other nice thing about this is the platform is wide enough to keep the balls dropping from actually hitting you. once again keeping the Healer safe and actively healing all of the incoming damage spread across the players
One thing you didn't note is that the fireballs both single and double rotate anti clockwise so can be predictable. Also the double balls fall in order making it possible to stand in the path of the last ball to fall while the first comes down.
tried it for my first time last night, after putting the game down for 7 months, and wow. What an awesome dungeon. New World really hits dungeons out of the park.
tips: in this video "The Heel Room 2: Foundry"part, acutally you can go right and tank can use leaping strike to a rock and claim up to the elite area, the GS also can do the same thing, healer just stay down and heal , no need to run through the stopper and this dungeon no need to gather all in order to get a gold, just save time
So a few things regarding Marius: 1- When he summons volcanos he slams his axe on the ground, these slams do damage from his front, they can also bug out and hit people behind but it doesn't seem intended. 2- EVERYTHING gets interrupted once you do 2 bars of damage, he's like f this im summoning lava. 3- As a melee dps I've had very bad experiences holding block that could much more easily be avoided by dodging. For example stuck in a corner as he spins towards me, breaks my block and im stunned, volcanos have spawned but lucky me I'm not stunned in one however a ball lands next to me and staggers me in to a volcano removing my remaining health. Rolling in to his spin if all other options aren't better is 100% better than blocking in light gear at least.
wanted to do some donjons. I told myself , "oh, they are looking for a healer for Forge. Let's try it and help them"^^ hahahahahahaha, I was the one needing help xD It was my first time there 35 minutes ago !!! I'm never going back again without being fireproof !!!
The lack of world drops for a completely new ward/bane is a bit rough. Perfect time for any new/lowbies to come get free carries thru Amrine ;) Fun dungeon though. I am looking forward to it being a little easier as I am able to craft some pieces here and there. Thanks for the awesome guide as always!
@@yipp_yippee yes but the drop rate can get sketchy when there is a massive group going, so while that's my preferrred spot I like to have an alternative like the 2 elites Vangs. in Ebon and the ez speed runs of Amrine. Good luck with your farms all!
So i noticed you often run Spear/Greatsword. I really love this pairing tho i dont think its considered "meta". I generally view the spear as a debuff tool for weaken/rend/bleed and then dps with the Greatsword. Do you have a build or any recommendations for this set up? Do you ever have issues with pulling too much aggro using Roaring Rupture?
About the conditioning. I've done this in muts also, but the conditioning will not go over the 50% cap, it's doesn't help against the first hit, and it doesn't proc on every skill in pvp (don't know about pve). I prefer to just go with the 58% fire res full gems and ammy setup. Not saying the condition is bad, just a PSA. Thanks for the excellent video.
Thanks! I don't like running maxed out res because it requires maxing out way more gear since bosses in particular still tend to do a lot of physical dmg (not having the ele split and all). In the Forge in particular, imo Conditioning only working after the first hit isn't a problem. There aren't many oneshot mechanics, but a lot of ticking damage instances from things on the floor or multiple things hitting you after each other. So unless you're full gemming, you should get reasonable benefit from Conditioning on Ifrit and Marius!
The Fireballs drop in a clockwise rotation. Then when two drop, they still follow the same pattern. So two platforms will have a boulder, and one platform will be "safe". The whole thing will then rotate clockwise for the next drop. This is good to know so you can keep up with where the boulders will be rolling to.
It seems some of his attacks can be interrupted? So far I think we've interrupted the lava ground and fire volcano pits. It doesnt ever show a stamina bar but I think it is possible
There is much safer way to do the boss where you actually play by his mechanics. The balls are not random. They have a set rotation and the map always has a safe spot on two sides of the arena. The balls rotate in a counter clockwise direction but because of the shape of the arena and geometry, the safe zones rotate in a clockwise direction. When two balls appear, it's easy to start rotating from between the two balls. You then move to the next "step" in a clockwise direction after every ball spawn. Step here is going from platform to inbetween platforms or vice versa. So moving from platform to platform is a single step. The tank can move the boss in the safe area and the ranged can safely DPS from the opposite side of the arena and match the rotations the tank does.
And to add to this. If you pug the run as a tank and your ranged dps/healer will not rotate according to you, you can also do a half circle pattern. Which would be the following: balls drop -> step clockwise -> balls drop -> step clockwise -> balls drop -> two steps backwards -> repeat
The clockwise rotation is a good point, but as a melee DPS I would hate it if the tank was constantly dragging the boss to the next safe spot. It's easy enough to avoid the balls while staying in one area. If you're running a full ranged team, your strategy would be great though!
@@DukeSloth the boss already constantly spins away with whirlwind attack. You can reposition very easily between the balls. You don’t need to constantly drag the boss and make your DPS chase the boss.
Sword DPS armor issue. Tested Heavy and Medium 300 Str 50 Dex in Medium I am getting more damage when I crit with light attacks, while non-crit light attacks do more damage in heavy. Is this a new change in the patch? Is this something just with swords? I plan to test other weapons tonight, but was just wondering if this is a known interaction and I just am finding out or something new with the patch?
That "back swing" just looks like the wide up of the hvy attack on the axe, look out for it, lol. Benedict G. and his speed running group have got the run down to 16 mins all ready. The dungeon can't be that tough as he doesn't even have any lego gear. Just ward and bane with appropriate gems. No trophies either. That last boss though is just scary for me and I'm not even into mutations yet.
It's a particular execute-ish heavy attack he does. "Back swing" refers to any attack that can hit you while standing behind him. But you can somewhat stand to the left of him and it won't hit you. Lego gear rarely makes a significant difference btw, since the 3rd perk is usually just refreshing anyways. I don't find the dungeon particularly difficult now, but that's after learning all of the mechanics. The first fight on the last boss was super chaotic, which made it feel a lot harder.
@@Google_Censored_Commenter i get that and i'm sure there are really cool guys out there, but i have 1 maybe 2 hours of game time between family and work so I'm not that keen on socializing in-game.
Nice video. I quit New World this week after logging in to see the price trajectory of the seasons listings. If the game wasn't dead enough, now AGS wants to milk its whales. Good luck.
Yep, GW did pay for convenience properly. AGS, in a very scummy way, knew we have too many wards and bane gear, storage and carrying dungeon gear is painfully annoying, so they go ahead and add in human bane and ward, and then have the audacity to charge us for gear slot storage... Let that sink in. This game needs new Lead Developers, not the current trash running the show, Scot Lane. Scummy behavior, for an amazing game being destroyed by these current devs.
