$8000 for an ATV frame? Does it make sense? Plus, some of the nicest 250R's ever!
This was my first visit to DBC Racing in Grand Rapids Michigan. Blake and I talk about the various aftermarket frames that are and were available for the Honda TRX250R and why it makes sense to buy one. Make sure to check out dbcracing.com and give them a follow on instagram @dbc_racing!

I own the license to use any and all music in this video.
I spy a Rocky Mountain ATV/MC banner! Very cool video on a top notch shop.
Thank you; I love your videos too 🤘 DBC Racing is definitely a class act!
Wow, I must be vintage... 50 years old now & was privileged to be in the day to purchase my 1st new ATV was a white 1989 250R off show room floor, think it was like $3,900, then started racing them locally in California. Met Doug Roll & Eichner several times & had talked with Tim Farr & Mr. Baldwin. Hung out with Gary Denton a few times. Raced with Ed Texerra in Marysville a few. My bike ended up with LSR frame, DRD&D A-arms & swing arm & AXIS shocks oh yeah did a 350 cylinder also.... why am I writing all this? I don't know.... Thanks for bringing back some great memories... Oh yeah, even was able to get an 2008 KTM 525XC brand new put wider ars on that also... now that's a Ferrari of a Quad Geez... very fast, very fast. OMG fast... Later Gents.
That titanium 250r 🤩
I couldn’t believe it was only 260lb, that’s insane! Sick build too.
Esr330 and 230 lbs that’s a beast somebody get bids of this bike ripping
@@anthonybaker7918 is a ESR cylinder and thats about it. Arlan resleaved, ported and changed quite a bit of port timing. Oem cases, oem crank. Yukon gears. Hinson basket, direct Drive lock out. It made right around 63 hp and was a rocket in my stock framed build.
Jason Moore 63hp. And all the torque you could want I bet it’s a handful on the pavement.
Happy New Year 🤘🤘🤘 Thank you for taking the time to watch my video! I had trouble picking a title for this one. Make sure to check out @dbc_racing.
Michael Sabo you need a yfz450R
Always nice videos man. I am not a 4wheeler guy but still like learning about your builds and the approach you take. Making videos and putting info out there is not an easy thing as I am finding out with a dirt bike project I am doing. It's one thing to do the work and completely another to document it in a professional manner, explain, mentor and keep the project moving forward. .Keep up the good work and good luck with your build. Happy New Year my friend !
You should get a trx450 or 400ex.
Thanks for introducing me to this company. I’ve been watching your channel and didn’t know these guys are 10 miles from my house!
The engineering on these machines are insane! Learned so much from watching this vid
Hi mate
Calling out 2vintage, I love you
Out here throwing shots at 2vintage😂😂
😂😂😂😂
“Chuck is gonna throw on some boots here and kick this thing on for us so you guys can have a listen” 😂🤣🤣🤣
🤣😂🤣😂🤣
2vintage is a joke
😂😂😂😂
Wtf... did you head shrink😂😂😂😂😂 or is that shaq's hat..
yeesh! ….. that hat though...
Bro its built in a/c....
12:50 😂😂😂😂 definitely
I love all these bikes. An LRD aluminum and one of the titanium bikes are my dream machines. Sometimes I forget how rare my 93 Laeger’s Protrax really is. I’m lucky to have one dream bike already.
lucky bastard 🤣✌
Man this video takes me back. I had a full Lonestar 250R build that I raced motocross with from 2001-2004ish. I miss that bike so much. As much as I loved my Lonestar I used to stare at those Roll Design Lobo chassis in the Duncan Racing catalog and dream about owning one. And I remember racing with Kory Ellis at one of the first races he rode his YZ426 / 250R hybrid. That was the beginning of the dirt bike motor / 250R hybrids. I got hurt in 2004 and sold my quad shortly after. I honestly haven't followed it much since, so its pretty wild to see it all coming full circle back to the 250R again. Now I want to build another one.
life is short dude . build another 2 or 3 of them ✌
That hat is huuuuuuuge!
I'm liking this build series. Cant wait to see the trx finished with the colors you were talking about🤙
As much as I love my new (to me) TRX250r it makes me sad that you glossed passed and didn't even mention that beautiful ATC70 at the end of the line. I've owned my ATC70 for more than ten years and no other bike has brought me more smiles! Build one of those beauties!
You need some more subs your videos are always on an upper quality
Some sweet quads there. I like having cr500 linkage rear suspension. Steve at ISF is doing some sweet frames.
After Blake seen Mike's drag racing video there was no way in hell he was letting Mike jump on one of those built quads. Just kidding Mike. Lol. Awesome Video!
Those Roll mx chassis are like unicorns to the 250r community. This guy has two.. You would be lucky to even spend that 7500 they are so rare to find.
Also if you have welding and fab skills. You can convert your stock frame and any swingarm to no link. That’s what I did.
Holy shit, younger Sabo wearing a flat bill hat is hilarious. Looking like a real bro, hahahaha
Im the prior owner of the engine set up in the Titanuim frame. She's very quick!!! So nice to hear it again!!!!!
I'll have a trx250r sooner or later, such beautiful bikes
this was a badass video filled with some badass quads bro!!!
Man that titanium bike revs so free and smooth. Sweet stuff there.
Damn that is some stellar work, nice job!
Awesome video Mike. And imo that roll design lobo is worth every penny. And Arlen(led) is the best 250r motor builder ever.
That 250R Barks instantly at the throttle touch!
this whole video had me drooling
how you have only 105k subs... your content is great and you should have a million already. Keep growing amigo. keep them vid's comming :)
How about the atc70 lol
If honda sold them whith the new cup\ grom 125 engine that will be sweet
I remember when the 250s were killing 400ex before the 450s came out. I had a Nacs addition in 2000. It was a 1987. PEP shocks motor built by trinity. Retreats of the year that I sold it. Still have some cool pics.
2 vintage burn notice !!!
Def. recommend their stainless steel bolt kits, I used them on two separate builds. Besides looking shiny, they're not your tired old 30-year-old nuts/bolts with stretched threads.
It is important to point out that the Laeger chromoly frame with T Pin front end coupled with PEP zero preload suspension set up was at the fore front and dominated GNC mx and GNCC xc racing for years. Multi time GNC and GNCC champs Jeremiah Jones Bill Balance Tim Farr all ran laeger/PEP
@Eric im getting old but i am thinking he won a bunch on a laeger honda 250 with PEP suspension and LRD motor before the yamaha factory ride on the 4 stroke. I think both ballance and yokely did some woods testing and racing with kawasaki on the roll design chassis kx250 engine mojave plastic clad quad that. I seem to remember ballance riding a wheelie on the kawasaki in heuvos ??
Cool, dbc racing is like a hour away from my land in Michigan so I'll definitely check them out when its time for me to do a project zilla or 250r.
Definitely worth checking out!
I like the 86 with the blue seat...sick
holysheet thats extremely light
Aye I remember when that swingarm for the trx450r went up for sale. First guy I sent it too lol.
I had a set of Gibson LT a arms with axis susp on my 250r
Great video
Saludos desde PR! Eres un maestro montando estas máquinas. Los trx 250R para mi es el mejor 4 ruedas mezcla de la historia
Awesome video, really good content!
One of the best videos ive seen in a long time!!!!!!👌👌👌
The sound of the one at the end was sick
Those LOBO chassis are GOLD! If 250r's were my only hobby I'd put out the money for one no doubt - even though my skill level is old tired guy.
Man those are some sweet R's
🤩 wow
I use to race a TrX450r that had a build motor with a Baldwin motorsport head package with cam. That thing was vicious.
Sounds like a badass quad 🤘
You could get an ISF racing chassis, which is essentially a laeger clone, swingarm and a arms for about 4500.
Thanks Mike ! Good videos go by fast. It didn't seem like 22 min. to me. Learned a lot!
Sick video !! Keep the content coming !!! ❤️🙏🏼
🤘
must be nice. spent my life on deployments, now i cant even afford a single 4wheeler lol. used to be my LIFE before i signed up when 9/11 happened. Last bike was an 87 250R, sure do miss her
I never knew the weight difference between after market and OEM looks like I'll keep mine stock for the dunes 👍🏽
That's crazy I live in Michigan and didn't know they had I didn't know there was a performance ATV shop
Great video mike....really primo content lots of jewels dropped here
Man if I could get my hands on a set of new red Fullbore plastics race cut I would gladly pay for them. Although I know they are hard to come by I also know some people might be willing to let go of a set out there.
I'm pretty sure you can still order those new from FullBore?
I just got done talking with Taylor at Fullbore Innovations and apparently they just did another run of the red Fullbore plastics, looking forward to getting them soon.
They sound the same exact as mine does. I guess that was an LRD though. And that’s what I have.
I think it's crazy how rare the 400ex and 250r LRD frames are and just recently I saw both for sale in my state. Wish i grabbed either of them
You will see more laeger frame machines in mx and more roll in desert and xc
I guess I've been under a rock because I didn't know Big Red quit making the 450 quad. SMFH! Even though they started the 2 smoke death cause I'm glad I switched to blue years ago.
Part 2: You know its a good video when its 20+ min 🙏🏼
Thank you man!
Now thats how a 250r should sound👀👀
Hell yea! 🤘
Love Michigan! Great frames as well.. gotta check them out for my '11 race Yamaha YFZ450X 🏁. #sportquads #Maxima #Fox
Nice
How much do those after market tongues weigh on those shoes
Lmfao 😂
Shop tour, built bikes, dropping knowledge, shots fired. Only thing that could’ve made this session better would’ve been some hot girls. Keep up the great content
That hat is big as hell
Sick ass bikes
Great video mike. I like the 4 stroke transition part, good history. There was a built laeger 250r for sale up here in Canada for 13k. Now I understand why. What do you think of aluminum frames? I guess if you are racing, but I ride a lot of mtb and have broken some alu frames. I would be afraid of alu quad frame. It must be way thicker than mtb tubing.
Love the videos but what is going on with your hat??? lol are we now wearing flat brims 3 sizes too large?
Bro its built in a/c...
Juston Preble probably could fit a small A/C unit in that thing haha
lmfao the bloopers was the best . you shouldn't had cut them skid plate mounts lol
Longlivethefourtrax250r
Wow. A "no stink rear end" sounds pretty rare and trick.
Can’t wIt till yours is done
Nice vids michael sabo, keep the good job, awesome.
videos likes this, made me buy a quad haha.
beautifull machines!!
This video was great man 👌👌
This video is sick bro and awesome production quality. Did you go to school for anything? Also, I love the little sticky notes adding facts into the video
Roll was pumping a few out here and there dont know if they still are. Love all the duncan bumpers. Ill never sell mine.
holy shit someone who is into chrome like me mostly my generation likes black out stuff but I like chrome and polished it just looks awesome
I ran a candy paint frame, swing arm, and lower a arms. Chrome upper arms and bumper/grab bar. With hiper wheels and matte Fullbore plastics.
Omg clean ass bikes 😍😍😍good video
titanium lsr bike only weighs 260 that's incredible. Really like the laeger pro trax, he didn't touch any on the t-pin front end.
I want that exhaust so bad!!!
I know right!? Looks and sounds so good!
I'd love to bring you my 86 ATC250r
Some seriously cool shit!
More videos like this! What Mathew as the beat around 11-12 min mark?
I need to look n to one
You could fit your buddy in that hat too
Custom titanium/aluminum/stainless frames are not worth it performance wise. Most cases are for looks and how big your.. Bore is. 😂 Gusseted stock 250r frame is just fine. Looks good too
Red 400ex with bug eyes is a tough looking quad ...fight me
if i remember right service honda made a 400ex with a cr250 engine converted to forward kick
Bad ass video man.
I hope that white one dosnt start cause its missing bolts on the front end. The camera angle is perfect at 10:10 to see what im talking about. Looks alot like them Sema cars.
Matt Scheeler what bolts were missing? Thanks for the feedback. The white 86 250R is a work in progress as mentioned in the video and isn’t finished.
Cool nice video!!!
wouldn't bother gusseting a stock frame , once the metal gets fatigued their done. I had a lone star and that thing never failed. As far as two strokes being banned it didnt happen that way. The four stroke took over cause better torque and the rules let people use the new 400 yz motor. But priced people out of racing from high costs. they changed again in 2004 when the new 450s came out, and outlawed the hybrids.
My buddy was a racer and he says the late 80s trx 250 honda frames are his choice for racing. His name is Ernie Austin.
And a good motor done by Bondi
No one acknowledged the atc 70??
Atv Adam i did
Best content on you tube 🤟
Skid plates save a bottom end.
Cr450r dirt bikes are 244 pounds so that titanium quad is bonkers.
Wow
Where do you get an exhaust like that for an lt250r pls tell me!!!!!!!!
