I put it around it if it is in direct contact with the battery and I make sure it does not touch the battery. Ive worked with this method for a year already and nothing has ever happened to any of my keyboards when used wireless for months.
It's not really a trick, it's more of just the fact that compared to polyfill and other kinds of foam, I've found that memory foam does the best job at keeping a thock but creamy sound signature, so it's like the perfect in-between. If the foam that comes included in your keyboard is of good quality then you might not need to use memory foam or any other foam for that matter, but often times stock keyboards come with bad case foams or very little, so thats were the memory foam comes into place.

I do not. Doing so would only make the keyboard sound more high-pitched. 😅
