    I just now noticed, and frankly, I'm shocked by the fact that you only have 4k subscribers. I think that you are a such a talented narrator, and even moreso, a gifted writer. I always look for your byline and have loved every single story you've written and shared. You are, in my opinion, one of the top five narrators of creepypasta on YT. You bring your stories to life with well honed acting skills and background affects,, where so many others sound like they're just reading from a screen, with as much drama as the pre-recorded message that answers the phone at the DMV. You deserve more recognition and more subscribers.

    " I was born dead..." the first sentence of what has to be a fascinating memoir...I found a photo ( Forgotten Books? Website, looks very interesting fare for later, thanks, J) of an adorable English tot with that "pudding basin" haircut/bob, in front of circus tents! Being held aloft by a clown- Life's A Circus?! Is that the author-? The other Eleanor Smith was an aviation "wonder" - THANK YOU, DEAR HOST....Were you ever afraid of clowns? I actually was, about age 3 or 4 a clown selling Mackintosh Apples, even remember the species! Can't remember my name etc some days, yes...I know I've whinged about it- tried melatonin again- doesn't work on me...T.W. has re-recorded some tales and added raindrops, which, seem to annoy many of his other listeners....kind gesture though- I vividly recall the clown approaching our car at an intersection in Vancouver B. C. and "screaming" like a banshee at "choir" practice- TERRIFIED THE BOZO, A HAPLESS CHARITY WORKER- Knight of Columbus? Kiwanis Club....still remember him shoving the apple at me down on the floor and cowering and unlike now, I DIDN'T COWER. Poor guy's "bozo the clown wig" went white, "Jeez lady, he said wimpily sp? to my astonished mother, fishing about for a dime! I'm sssorry I upset your kid..." HAVE YOU EVER MET A PARENT OR "KID" FOR THAT MATTER WHO IS TOFFEE-NOSED ENOUGH TO INFORM YOU, THE CHILD IS NOT A GOAT ONLY GOATS, SHEEP HAVE KIDS?- pain in the derriere if you ask me...Anyhow I am looking forward to "torrid" now there's a word one doesn't encounter often nor any really good erotica for that matter. I wish I'd kept my facsimiles of THE PEARL, The Victorian For Gents Only penny periodical...gave them to my friend, a dear art history professor who always invited me over for dinner- his wife had an insured collection of children's books- they met in a one room school house, how Canadian huh? He had lost an arm- yes and talk about the "inner" as opposed to "is she pretty" "is he handsome" - I NEVER NOTICED FOR OVER A YEAR, I was shy, and he wore his jacket tucked in- just goes to show huh?! I thought myself too stupid to be at university- terrified and my first T.A. Andrew was a English "cat" from Oxford, lips like Mick Jagger, Brad Pitt, sorry I did it! But they were SO red and I was no virginal teenybopper- no. I probably told you, I told Tony- why I am still in therapy, why I started a double honors degree at "over 18" - TRAUMA! Cue that bit of frantic music- pizzicato- does that mean, FAST! before a bad guy or before a Sherlock Holmes saves the day- that bit, I digressed- speaking of Circus life- I used to carry a brown paper bag ( panic attacks and a tattered xerox of a painting, German Expressionism- a sea of mask-like, garnish faces, squashed tight, not much body- very disquieting- that was how life looked to me- why not a happy calming image- I have perversities if there is such a word, Prof Higgins ( fabulous job on the various accents, you had me enthralled right off!) - I was likely trying some reverse psychology- Freud would smirk I know. The creep who abused me was a Fritz Perls man, In and Out of the Garbage Pail- A Gestalt something or other- how apt that one turned out to be- I RARELY THROW A BOOK OUT- I'll give it away but in his case- anything he gave me - well not a LeonardCohen volume of poetry, The Energy of Slaves or Death of a Ladies Man- ha ha, I felt like throttling him- a friend wanted to "key" the new Saab he bought wifey- I wouldn't let him. I figured he'd lose his license and not be able to groom anymore hapless "Lolitas" ...it sounds corny and Germaine Greer would sneer almost, "get a life" not that simple- some call itb"professional incest" going a bit far that one- but my father said Dear Dr. treated me like a daughter in some ways- oh bother! To hell with him- Leonard was segregated for years though! My husband asked me why" one Cohen volume is away from the others, can I move it- " NO! He knew about "why didn't you finish out that year of uni?"- the slimeball was very keen on German Expressionism- who knows- please don't ban me from leaving comments- a few years ago I read a trashy novel, hot on the Best Seller lists for over a year- a shrink, a murder or two, a Borderline, a psychotic for spice, double crosses- waste of good reading time- borrowed it thankfully- I used to daydream ( before I faced it! Like that!? Maybe you wouldn't find me as "icky" as I think I am, I am sure not photogenic- ) before I knew I am too dumb to write a book about penning a Sophie Hannah very twisty plot in which a psychiatrist meets with An Accident- make some money off all those wasted years- get out your hankies here come the feeling sorry for myself, "the best years of my life" cue Meryl Streep or Tilda Swinton- well the time, precious time did sort of mess up the prospect of "giving birth"- biological clock- all that jazz but given my loonie parents, maybe it was for the best- and I'm not a wicked step mother! His kids were grown and naturally hated me- for what it's worth my husband was separated not that I'm "well scrubbed"! Lord know! I prefer my "idols" tarnished- Marianne Faithfull- I adore her! Her music etc has given me so much pleasure and saved my ass on those days- she swallowed 150 Tuinol? And lived, thankfully- a week in a coma- a miscarriage too perhaps- YES, PLEASE DON'T GHOST ME NO PUN INTENDED OR OTHERWISE NEFARIOUSLY PROHIBIT ME FROM LEAVING COMMENTS- if I could just think properly- I made The Dean's List- how? My doctor assures me it's medications, upside-down circadian cycle and borderline anorexia- the latter is rubbish- I'm not that thin- I haven't eaten ANY flesh since 2015? but Buddhist monks- many vegetarians are very healthy- and I am not in early onset senility- I had a crap load of tests but....something is wrong- if I thought I was going, funny- I think I would Big Chill it...maybe Leonard's "ghost" my guardian angel- he's Jewish, I know all about golems- there's an idea- I could entertain myself by knocking off the deceased two years ago Abuser in a not for publication story- I send a golem after him....He was Jewish either but I bet as a phoney Christian, he'd say he believed in guardian angels....Whenever I look at Hieronymous Bosch's triptych- the Hell panel- I think of him! Back to the circus- can't wait to explore those sites about authors and "forgotten" books -
    Namaste and Pardon Me friend-

    Good story.used to travel carnivals and circuses, some of the older, European circuses had a lot of spooky stories of the old days, they used to be extremely popular for hundreds of years. Met a lot of interesting old ,long time performers over the years. Lots of dark folklore and stories.one thing for sure, those days are over.at least there are still story tellers.glad I saw the old days

    I used to know an Italian man, Tony, who had worked for years with animals, principally tigers, in the European circuses. He said that lions were ok, and could be quite affectionate. Tigers were untrustworthy, and had to be watched every minute, but the worst by far were bears, as they had no facial expressions and were totally unpredictable. He said people who thought they were safe with a bear, who they had maybe brought up, were only ever minutes from being mauled, but they didn't believe it.

      Thanks Rebecca. You way well have looked her up, but Lady Eleanor was fascinated with the circus (and believed herself to have Romani blood). She travelled with circuses and the year before this story she published a novel "Red Wagon" - a circus-based love triangle. I wonder if this story was a short reworking of some of the ideas from that.

    • @rebeccalloyd6681
      @rebeccalloyd6681 2 года назад

      @@EnCryptedHorror well Romani people are the most 'romantic' of the travelling people, but they are not the circus people. I lived on circus when l was young. The people you find there are, fairground travellers quite a lot, men who who've been in prison for various offences, a lot of the 'pull down' crew, a very few people of Romany descent, Irish Travellers, Scottish travellers, even, maybe mumpers, (tramps), who are regarded with awe by other travelling people. So, it is a big melting pot. Don't forget circus is relatively modern, a mid Victorian invention that sprang off the back of travelling 'educationalists' that took intelligent pigs and two headed lambs around the country at times, 17th/18th century when communities were so cut off from each other

    SHORT, I PROMISE....RED WAGON...Lady E. has much in common with Marianne F- there's a scene in Mrs first movie, wherein she's a naked, bare-back rider, the Ring Master, the nefarious but irresistibly handsome and sexy, ( a therapist?!) Alain DeLong sp - Lady E refused to do what her upper-class position demanded of her- the midwife rubbed GIN ON HER, THINKING HER STILLBORN- I love it- she DID "run off to the circus" so many "karmic" parallels with Marianne F. I can't wait to read Red Wagon- I love "-hit disturbers- from the convent to the "circus" of Queen on King Jagger's arm....Girl on a Motorcycle, a screwy 60's bizarre take on Marxism and pop culture- bad film but great fun, very entertaining- a body double, Jenny Agutter was used in the circus "dream" - Mick or Maianne's poor father- considering her age, her unusual social position- great grand neice of Leopold Von Sacher Masoch- Venus in Furs- it was on RUclips- hopefully still is! I love coincidence like this- thank you! I shall finish this story- I've got a "pounder" ever been bent down and stood up fast and whacked your head on the frig door- that was all I needed on top of an already aching head- and I think I'm gaining weight- too tired to get housework done. I saw an actual anorexic, in the flesh, what there was of it, about 5'6" - even I was dead silent- she made Twiggy look like a hippo- how she was alive, poor soul- at the addiction clinic I have to go to every other Thursday- confession, I still miss my "stuff" the romance! of Confessions of An Opium Eater- those marvelous Victorian opium bordello for the rich gents- parts of my house are decorated like that- ran out of money- very "unhippie" of me isn't it?! Ah yes but a life of contradiction is more fun- I got one of my favorite words from Marianne-sort of- nobody uses it besides unusual souls like her: tatterdemalion. My two other favorite words are chiaroscuro and pentimento- Lillian Helman opens a novel with pentimento in the first line if I remember at all- the "impasto" but not of memory- how could that be? I'm sorry this is "muddled" I've got so many ideas and....no place to "put" them- somebody must have powdered me with codeine- imagine massaging a still born with GIN- HOW DIVINE! Namaste

      "Red Wagon" sounds like it would be where this story would go if it wasn't a horror story - i.e. a love triangle. Apparently it was filmed too in 1933, although it would have to go some to beat Burt Lancaster in "Trapeze".

      I felt sick, guilty, NUTS, ALL DAY- my "correspondence" how would I react if I were you? Please forgive me- I AM rather eccentric not ditsy or "crazy" but I am NOT at my best. I DID call physician for sleeping meds- not over the phone jazz and I listened to several interviews with Marianne F- I saw that film with Burt L and didn't like it even though I was fascinated by that life once- and I am a romantic still- and if you know me well, DO have a good sense of humor- lord knows I've needed one! That's one of the qualities I've always admired in Marianne- and I've never considered her a " has been"- now Jagger maybe ought to hang up his dance shoes and "codpiece"! Well I guess if people are willing to pay on the other hand- why not?! Have you read The Master and Margarita, by Mikhail Bulgakov? Think I got it right? Marvelous satire on The New Russia- after Nicholas and family were assassinated- no better in my tiny mind- I've been ruminating to the point of tears all day, thinking about thinking- ENVY IS ALL OF MY SEVEN DEADLY SINS. Awful waste of time and energy and worrying about "what people think of me"...another exercise in futility. I'm SO afraid I am going wonky and that my hair won't grow back- do you think it's true, if you don't use it you lose it? I keep seeing- what writer went into a cork-lined room to escape stress and produced a masterpiece through reclusivness? Not Proust- I just can't remember the words I need to discuss anything of importance- I refuse to keep saying, fantastic or marvelous- therapists feel they have to pluck up your ego so I suspect they lie when they tell me I'm not dumb etc- I AM sorry. I always have a reaction to the stories and Tony's too and Simon S- can't always get into another channel- the narrator- kind of like the corny tape format and unusual tales- do the channel sponsors contribute? Maybe it's a channel now gone- I don't offend easily, I just can't handle bad writing and plotless- oops here I go! I don't expect everybody to be Dostoevsky ! I read lots of very young writers who seem to be- editors tell them to stay at 300 words- seems like the new form of the post modernist novel is getting ludicrously lost and Harelquin format style- shut up Miss Golightly will you! Yes. I guess your evening is over in England unless you're a party animal. Sweet dreams! And please cut me some slack. It's appreciated more than you know.
