today i'm showing you how to change the CVT belt on your Arctic cat ATV. This is also known as the drive belt. this requires you to remove the clutch belt housing. Once all the bolts are removed use a rubber mallet to gently tap the cover off. Then remove the nut of the driven pulley or clutch and remove. Then remove the nut of the driven or secondary pulley and pull that off with the belt. Installation is similar except you need to open the secondary clutch up when you install the belt.

Don’t need to remove nuts just cover bolt like you did is fine. Had to do mine in the bush with the tools under the seat. Was a crap load of fun. Great vid be well.
I just recently purchased a 2008 AC 650 H1 TRV a little over a month ago. I have been watching some of your videos and they have helped me understand somethings I've questioned. This is my first IRS quad. Thanks for the informative videos.
What is IRS?
Thank you this help me change the weights and belt in my o7 650h1
I don't know if it makes a difference but I have a 2016 500 cat and I did not need to remove either the primary or secondary nut. I just used a screw from the cover and expanded the secondary. That gave plenty of room to put the new belt on. Just to save someone from extra work... good videos BTW
yes that works on all Arctic cats!
al leo especially if ur on the trail. This is just the super super time consuming way lol
Looks like a lot of extra work here certinally not a trail side repair. You can replace the belt without removing the engine . Just remove cover and spread the clutch with a cover bolt , remove and replace the belt, replace cover and dive into the next mud hole 😄
The was being rebuilt when this was done….. you should know the whole story before you comment….. there is a whole video series on it.
@@TestDontguess just found your channel, and will go back to some of your videos if I can still be a subscriber. Specifically looking for wheel alignment fixes, front and back. I assumed engine was out for other than belt replacement. 😊👍
@@km351c6 my playlist has like 40 different videos of repairs that I did
Thanks so much!! So many of your vids have helped me out, you're the man!
my clutch rollers are out of place can i just put them back without taking it off? is it normal for the rollers to be out place when the belt breaks?
Note to former self tighten the primary drive clutch very well and follow the video exactly and do use enough loctite. Ps mine spun of due to the colt unscrewing itself in speed I did drive for about 3 Km/h with it loose and it worked somehow so I got home but I stripped the nut and maybe the axle from the engine
Good Video. Gave it a try to replace my belt on a 2010 Arctic Cat TRV. I tried to put the bolt into the secondary to separate. The secondary did not open and snapped. Now what? suggestions please
Hello
thanks for accepting me i live in argentina
and I wanted to comment that I own a 2016 Alterra 450 ATV and I notice that the variator gets very hot, I don't know if it's normal the oil I use is synthetic valvoline 10w50 API SN MA2 the vehicle has 4000 km I would appreciate it if you could help me this topic, thank you
My grandpa wanted me look this up,lol
Your grandpa is a good man
You'll thank him some day
That is the hard way ... no need to take them off, spread it with them on, that is why it is made that way
i thought the same thing as i was watching the video then i saw your comment
Sorry didn't wait for last where you say to put red on both
Thanks Jerry
How many times do you reuse the same nut's holding both clutches on ?
Yes the large ones.
Perfect!! I needed this vid! Your secondary looked a little different than mine! Mine doesn’t have that metal part that is over the spring just the nut and the spring retainer.
Mine broke and I need a replacement and the ones I’ve found on eBay look like yours! I guess they are compatible?? Do you know?
Do you put red lock tight on the driven pully?
Replacing gasket on v-belt cover do I need gasket Sealant or just put it on dry
I need to find the clutch specs 2003 mossy oak 500 four-wheel drive side beside where do I do that
What size are the torx bolts for the cover looked it up said they were t60 just wanna verify that it is the correct size
I have a 2009 arctic cat 500 ATV auto. My secondary does not have the holes to put the cover bolts in to spread it. How do I do it to get the belt to the bottom while putting the belt back on with slack.
I have an Artic cat 650 2007 but i doesn’t have no power it runs but doesn’t go as fast as a regular 650 and the belt is good any thoughts what this could be please ?
I have the same issue. I see others that are popping wheelies but mine is no where near that. Ever figure out what was going on
I have a 2017 mud pro 700 and the clutch cover bolt will not fit in hole to spread secondary clutch
If the belt is bad and or slips will thr quad run at all?
Thanks
I wonder if Yamaha would be much different? Ive got 2800 km on mine and haven't even looked at it yet, I should probably check it soon! haha
i bet the procedure will be similar
Hey man, I have a humming noise coming from the clutch.. any ideas of what that may be? Thanks
Have the same problem
@@shanyameyer3064 ever figure it out? I have the same problem, thinking one way bearing?
i have a 700 H1. how wide does the belt need to be to make you want to replace it? PS. keep the videos coming i love it!!!
i don't have a measurement you can go by but that belt is my original from that motor about 10 years old. You can usually tell it's time to change a belt when it starts to slip or it's getting cracked up
No puller required? Primary and secondary just slide off?
+Ajaxaxxess that’s correct just like what’s shown in the video
Thats crazy.. nice though, thats how they all should be!
Appreciate the response, doing a new belt and tune up this morning on a 2006 650 prow..
+Ajaxaxxess Good luck on your project
hey jerry, I was on my 2011 450 trv today hauling wood ,when I heard a noise in the clutch housing ..now it wont move ..I can hear the primary clutch moving when I rev it, but it wont move..any suggestions??? thanks...
Take off the belt cover and have a look
