just have to post here after being lucky to catch the live Premiere....#freetheboop. We love your enthusiasm and wonderful sense of humour Cathy! Don't stop being You!! It's what most of us come here for. You make great cards, offer terrific techniques and all that good stuff... but the true joy of it is sharing time with you. Thank you for all you do for us crazy crafters! hugs lovely lady!
love the "two-fers" of this card - I'm happy to know I'm not the only one that tends to forget they won a gel press. Anyone that gets one of those two cards will know that you do love them. Loved the simplicity and especially the simplicity that got great results.
Love you Cathy! You did make me snort with laughter when you got no impression on your card but only because I would be disappointed too! Great nails 🥰
The cards look great and are probably what you had in your mind when you started. I don't have a gel press but think I'm going to order one now. I love making interesting backgrounds. I love neat and simple sentiment dies. Thanks for sharing the tips.
Cathy I love spending time with you & love that you read our comments. The cards are really nice & it is good to explore ways to extend the use of our supplies on hand too
Great cards as always Cathy! I too adore that combo of crazy and control - its the best of both worlds. I've got a tip for you I've been meaning to pass on for a while about heat embossing. I know you use a clothes pin, but I learned (from Ardyth Percy-Robb) that a shoe box top or other smallish box with a simple tin foil lining makes an ideal embossing box. It heats the card from both sides, making it emboss faster and warp less. I swear it works! I do it every time. If your piece slides around inside while embossing just hold it down on one corner with your tweezers. Hope it works for you, and keep up the great, and inspirational work!
Thank you, Cathy, I love how simple you make cards and different types of techniques. Please keep the boops coming. My daughter has called you the booping lady, when I am watching youtube.
I tend to forget to use my gel plate too. A new trick I saw on Natasha Foote's channel - try using glossy photo paper either with the gel plate or a direct application of oxide ink. Buff the dried ink with a paper towel and you get a totally different look to your background. Works with ink smooshing too. I'm in the process of making valentines using these new backgrounds. It was addicting once I tried it. I stenciled over a background too with a dreamy soft outcome.
We are grateful for YOU! My brayer in on the way, my cheap one won't even roll lol. I have not used the gel press yet. You have great design style, and always make me feel that I can try a new technique. Thank you for your inspiration ❤
I think it goes to your character that you read the comments and try out the suggestions people make. That in itself is invaluable. Your cards turned out great. People that receive these homemade cards we make have to remember that they didn't come from the factory so they will all be unique and not always look perfect. But they were made with love and came from the heart.
I do miss your lives! I haven’t been to one in months. So busy trying to just take care of this big house and yard, car, etc all by my wittle ( not tittle) lonesome. But I always watch after! You are such a star these days! Be proud queen of cards!
Cathy, I truly appreciate that you are open to learning new tips from us, your fans. I know many if the big named people never respond to comments. I have seen several be very critical of suggestions with an "I know what I'm doing" attitude. After all they are the ones making money to show card making. You have always come across as humble. I feel like you're one of my friends because I talk to you more than my old friends now that I am disabled. I promise not to stalk you, just admire from afar. I absolutely have to watch all your videos and enjoy your amazing sense of humor.
Love the card. You know to save your wrists when using the gelli plate once your card is on top place piece of scrap paper onto card and then use the brsyer to press out print,,,thus saving pressure on your wrists. X
Hey Catske! You’re on fire tonight! Sent your package today. Should be there by Wednesday or Thursday. I like distress ink ok, but I prefer stamping. Lol
I always love your cards AND your dies!!! I have many of them. I never thought of using stencils with my gel press. Thank you for sharing this technique. Craft on Cathy
Those turned out to be beautiful, and I love that you got out of your comfort zone! I didn't read all of the comments so I don't know if anyone told you this tip. On the first prints you made, you would have gotten a better impression if you used a brayer to apply even pressure, instead of your hands. I learn something new every time I use the gel press!
A way to wipe off the brayer in between colors is to roll it onto a piece of cardstock. You can some cool looks from that too. Can be used as a background or you can cut greetings from it that match your inked pieces.
I like this as well. Have a few pieces of paper handy. Use them for color families. You could end up with soMe really great backgrounds from all the mixed Colors.
Thank you for sharing and teaching! Beautiful cards! Honestly I received a gel press about a year or two ago🤔, anyways had no clue what it was for, how to use it, ETC. Soo I gave it away. 😳😱🙄😩 Now that I have been watching RUclips and seeing this. I am so kicking myself for not keeping it. It will go on my once a month craft list of “what would I like to learn and need to purchase”
These turned out really cute! I would love to see you make a card with the last gel plate print you made that has the pink outline of the hearts. I’m imagining that piece die cut with a postage stamp kind of die. Maybe you’d be able to get three “postage stamps” to layer up on a mini slim line and add a few critters, or flowers, or solid hearts and a tiny sentiment. In any case, you’ve got me headed to my stencil stash now! I’m inspired! Thank you!
The second time you used brayer and gel press and got yhe very light hearts, actually that is my favorite, then your greeting can be bold . Great ideas.
I always enjoy your videos and the hints and tips in them. I have recently made two gel plates - one for myself and one for a friend, so I think that this video will be VERY helpful as this is all new to us. Thanks again.
When you did the boop and slide and talked about dogs perking up, I thought, my dog won't fall for that (he never reacts to tv or videos). Don't you know as soon you did it, my dog picked his head up and looked over at me like, "wtf was that?". 🤣 Both cards look great. 💙
If you want to get the ink from the stencil, you have to go yhrough your die cutting machine, to get enough pressure 😉 With the brayer, you can try also to smush on gel press directly and then brayering it. You can also go with the brayer over the paper to get more pressure or use the ink from the brayer and go through the paper on the end to get more colour.. there's so many fun with gel press 😊 Very cool cards, as always 😉
Hi Cathy, I love your reasoning for sequin placement, so much so that when it’s time to place sequins in my cards I ask myself ( where would Cathy place these) and use. Your cascading method. Great tip thank you. I love this video
I agree with not being able to use dinged sequins 😉 But if you’re gonna “Boop & Slide” you can slide the dinged end under, so that the blemish will be hidden and not wasted 👍 I still go back to that original video because that “Grand Reveal” with the acrylic block keeps making me laugh 😁 Love that you didn’t give up, and now we have many ways to get similar looks, depending on what supplies we each have. #FreeMISTI! 😂 (I wish!😜)
It is funny that you got the gel plate out. I have had a gel plate for ages and just got it out over the weekend for the first time. All my panels ended up looking like your first one and I was never happy with it. I put it aside out of frustration. The one you went with looks great. I would have been delighted if I got an impression like that one. Two cute cards!
I liked your idea about putting both green plates on one clear cutting plate. I was doing it one green plate on each clear plate and the one I started cutting on got REALLY bad. Even had some chips in it. So by putting both green plates on one clear plate I’m about to rotate and flip them much better.
Thanks for the video. I quite haven’t committed to a gel press as of yet. Definitely looks like fun. I may have to now. Hope you have a wonderful day!!
I love my gel press. What I do is gel plate ink stencil scrap paper use the brayed to do your first pull. Take the stencil off put cards stock brayer to press that down. And I get really good results.
I thouroughly enjoy your creative process Cathy, and I learn so much from watching your tutorials!! I love your sequin placement formula, it always works and looks great. Can you recommend a really good boop stick that doesn't leave waxy buildup on your sequins, please and thank you! Love your cards!! 🧡🦋🧡
I always liked your end results - also love how you placed those sequins so much now I do it the same way - made a different on how it looked on the card.. Thank you :)
I saw yr mistakes in the other video but they still looked good enough to still use. These love cards turned out really pretty. Thanks for all the great ideas. Char
Super cute! I have considered getting a gel plate, but I wasn't quite sure what to do with it! I may have to invest in one now! Also, thank you for using vellum! I forget about vellum and it is so pretty and perfect in "love" cards! Have a great day!
