I was thinking about embossing a stamped piece the other day and I assumed it would be a disaaaaaster so chickened out. Luckily we have our fearless leader to set a better example. I did all the missing Boops, by the way. You're welcome.
First I want to tell you that I am in awe of your skills. I have taught cardmaking classes for over 10 years now but I always learn something new when I watch your videos (I call these tips or takeaways). In this one, I learned about changing the nibs on markers to suit your needs is a simple but effective way to adapt an item you already have so that you don't have to go out to buy "all new". Second, it's like you could read my mind when you said you didn't know which snowman you were going to use. I kept thinking to myself "I hope it is the one with the little heart on his chest". A friend of mine and I, both lost our husbands to heart issues, ten months apart. Our husbands shared the same birthday July 30th (but my husband was older by about 6 years). After she lost Joel (he died of a "widow maker" heart attack on Thanksgiving weekend 7 years ago), she started noticing "heart signs" and ten months later when I lost Andy to aortic dissection, I started seeing them everywhere too. Hearts in the most random places (patch of grass in the shape of a heart, a leaf that was heart shaped, a tree they cut into had a perfect heart in the middle) so they have special meaning for us. It is cool to see you pick that one. Thank you. It felt like another sign.
I believe that's a lovely way to see meaning and beauty in the world around us after something tragic. ❤ I too "collect" hearts when I notice them ...started with rocks I noticed on walks or hikes, then in nature...melting snow on my driveway. When I can, I take a pic and save in a file. After 10 yrs I think I may finally put them together. I think it's a hug from the universe.
This is adorable, that snow is super 3D! I dragged out my old glossy accents to add interest to a simpler card & then proceeded to run it through the die cut machine.. which of course, after all that, flattened it out. LOL! You had far more forethought than I did, not using an A2 die & cutting your panel with your trimmer instead.
That snowman is so cute! I still love every one of your cards! The simple clean style is right up my alley! I can’t work on anything but Christmas cards right now I should be able to mail them out Monday. Watch your mail! Thanks for the great video!
Brilliant hack for lining up the stamp to be where you need it to emboss. I'll store that one in my crafty brain section library. Truly adorable Cathy. I am very Thankful for you this year. You are a gift that keeps on giving.
I am impressed Cathy Z !!! Yana Smakula does make some beautiful cards. Thank you for this card Cathy, It is so darn cute and the sequence just completes it. 💜💜☃️☃️☃️
This technique is genius because it looks like that little snowman is in amongst the snow in the globe! A die cut snowman would just not have the same effect. That beautiful silver sequins just adds the perfect finishing touch. Well done, love this so much! 👍💖
I think that is just the best card! LOVE the snow globe with the little snowman. I can just imagine a whole set of snow globe cards with different images. ❤❤❤
That is so adorable Cathy!!! Because of you, I am colouring with alcohol markers & actually enjoying it. I am shading challenged too but like you said, no one will say hey, she should have shaded that more. Thanks for all your videos & the entertainment they provide.
Omg! Am I the only one who didn't realise you could create a bend on a stamp??? (Yes, I've only been doing this since February and just got my first stamp platform) But this was news to me....brilliant! Thanks for another great video Cathy. Love your style and love your chat, not to mention the pretty cards you create and share with us.
O...M...G...!!! MUST...MAKE...THIS...!! I admit I don't have the stamps of the snow globe embossing folder (this will have to change!) But I wonder what I can make with what I have!!! Thank you Kathy for the inspiration. You so rock!
Love that it makes the snowman appear to be inside the snow globe
