  • Today I will include in this video a true but unfortunate Augmented Reality: MY TRIBUTE TO:
ALL PEOPLE IN THE WORLD WHO HAVE ALWAYS BEEN SURVIVORS OF GENDER VIOLENCE.
ART is definitely the topic that most attracts us to share with you, but there is so much that each one of us can do with Augmented Reality that today we are going to see in which fields we can let our imagination fly and begin to put it into practice.
There are three things that augmented reality does very well: visualization, annotation and storytelling:
    1. Visualization
Augmented reality is a powerful visualization tool.
    2. Annotation
Annotation with augmented reality helps guide you in carrying out a task.
    3. Storytelling
Augmented reality enables new modes of storytelling.
One of the Augmented Reality stories that really caught my attention is the comic series called Priya’s Shakti created by Indian-American filmmaker Ram Devineni and illustrator Dan Goldman.
The case that inspired Priya’s Shakti comic was that of Jyoti Singh Pandey († 23), the Indian student raped by six men on a bus in New Delhi, whose death sparked riots in her country and protests around the world. Although there may be a sexual stimulus to rape, it is not just about sexuality, but about the power to possess. A fundamental mistake that societies have made is that somewhere in the minds of young men around the world we have put the idea that a woman is an object, something you can possess. This is probably implanted consciously in some places, in many other places it is implanted unconsciously. You can issue laws and laws: This will not fix anything. If it were not for technology, definitely. a woman would still be very much confined to the house. Being at home is nice. Being confined at home is something different.
So: when someone breaks the law, they have to be punished. But still, if you want a better society. Hanging someone for committing femicide, for example, is not going to fix someone's life.
If you want to see that things don't go wrong. There may not be an absolute solution. But. There is definitely something called: lowering the percentages.
There may never be an ideal society where such a thing does not happen. In cases like New Delhi, the limits of the physicality of the assaulted become the ultimate limits of life. You don't experience your breathing. You think it is the maximum limit and the aggressors are your enemies.
If we valued our lives a little beyond our physical limits, these assaults might not be eliminated, but they would be reduced drastically and considerably. To a point where a few offenders can be dealt with with punishments.
The same cannot be said if a large majority of the population is committing these types of crimes. Let's say 10, 15 or 20 percent of people are committing crimes in a society. You can't punish 20% of the population.
If it's 1%, you can punish it, you can deal with it with punishments. If it's 20%, you can't deal with it with punishments. It's not going to help. If you want to hang 20% of the population, that's going to be worse than rape. And that's not going to happen.
So people think punishment is a deterrent. To a certain extent, maybe it is. For most people, it's not. Offenders will try to be more careful.
Maybe because they have more pressure, they'll take more precautions, it may ease up a bit. But in the mind of the offender it means that when there's an opportunity, he'll make it happen.
Does it seem quite right to all of you that there are more than 500 rape video games on the market?
There's for example a very popular video game like that. A mother with two daughters are at a train station. And the video game is about how to rape the mother and if you do it successfully, you will get one of the daughters. This is a video game that is sold commercially, bought by millions. We are feeding a sick world. This time it happened on a bus and in the capital of India or in the capital of Colombia the case of the Acid Attack on Natalia Ponce de Leon, therefore, it was big news both in India and in Colombia and there the media was very attentive.
