In this short documentary, we explore how the ‘love jihad’ conspiracy has grown online, and the ways in which it impacts the lives of inter-faith couples, and Indian Muslim men.

I don't know about love jihad... But yes if a Muslim man marries a Hindu woman she is completely integrated in the family only when converted. It happened with my maternal aunt. She was educated and modern but now is allowed to move out of house only when she wears that black tent. Well then I think it is the problem of that family not all cases are like this. My uncle's daughter has been married to a Muslim boy and she has not converted her religion in fact her son name is Ram. And despite my uncle being so religious he agreed to the marriage after some hard work. In fact the boy's family where more cool about the marriage than my uncle.

Love should never be conditional. Inter religious marriages and relationships are fine as long as it they aren’t subject to a conversion. I’m married to a Sikh. Forget conversion, I haven’t even taken on his surname. I love him for who he is because of his religion, not in spite of it. He not only loves and respects me, but encourages me to to teach our children about Hinduism too. We’ve chosen neutral names for our children so they aren’t presumed to be of a singular faith. Had he asked me to convert, I’d have left him in a heartbeat. Love isn’t conditional and if someone asks you to leave your religion / identity (ie by changing your name) they never loved you in the first place.

Unfortunately in the case of this video the couple appear to have married impulsively, which isn’t how you make decisions on life. She should’ve at least given her parents a chance by telling them of her intentions. Eloping is dangerous and never the answer. The video didn’t make it clear that it was her parents who hired someone, but if that is the case and she knew her parents were like that than she didn’t have any right to put her partner’s life at risk for her own selfishness. I support interfaith marriages as it encourages us to exchange and understand each other's cultures well. But we just can't deny the fact that there is no case of forced interfaith marriages. There must be and it should be bring to lime light. Those victims also need their voices to be heard. Love Jihad is as real as a daylight and not a propaganda. While non-Muslim women are forcefully converted non-Muslim guys when they enter into a relationship with any muslim woman are lynched by the muslim community. Example: Hyderabad case of a lower class Hindu boy and a Muslim girl where the girl's relative smashed the guy's head in front of public and nobody did anything.

Every movement, for good or bad (depends on the perspective) begins with small isolated events. For example, Rosa Parks refusing her seat was a small event but spiraled into something massive and is now considered a landmark in Human history. So is Love Jihad. It is happening at a small scale now, later it has the potential of being humongous. Because it is a well planned, strategised and well funded movement.
