  • Of the six teams that signed up to the 37th America’s Cup cycle, four had sailed in the previous event in Auckland. Four teams that already knew how hard the task was going to be and four teams who came away from the last America’s Cup with pages of notes on how they would do things differently next time around. Anyone coming into the 37th Cup afresh would need to be playing a big game of catch up. But while Alinghi Red Bull Racing are one of those, having won the America's Cup twice before, the Swiss team has an impressive track record. Matt Sheahan goes to their base in Barcelona to find out how they have been playing catch up.

I remember [from a few years back] they bought what I thought was a complete older training AC75 from NZL ,,, now they said it was virtually an empty shell.

They bought the whole boat without any control systems. Etnz pulled out all their hydraulics and mechatronics
