Just watched Marlon Wayans stand up and he talked about how this was supposed to be his role but he couldn't get out of school to shoot the film. Ultimately this was the role that gave Chris Rock his first look at becoming a superstar. Crazy how life works. 🔮

I think this is one of the most underrated movies. This and Hollywood shuffle. Two gems in my book. There are lots of great back in the day black movies that didn’t and still don’t get the respect they deserve.

There wasn't enough and they decided to pay with a 100 or something... And don't get me started on coins...
Chris’s character was hilarious, then pulls out all those greenbacks at the end of all that bartering attempts.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. That whole Wayan movie production was brilliant and will stand the test of time for sure. Always will be simply hilarious. Then he goes on to produce - in living color. Man I wish I could’ve been as brilliant.
As a kid I had never laughed so hard.....then my pops "mr mean" didn't like comedies especially anything corny. But for him to laugh hard throughout the whole movie it made this an official classic... His favorite part was the pimp with the fish tank shoes 😆😆😆😆😅😂🤣
Yeah, when I was a kid, it came on TV, and at first, my dad didn't want me to watch it, because he thought it was a "black spoof on vampire movies." I'm not sure where he got that idea other than maybe that the title included the word "sucka," but anyway, he watched the first few scenes with me and then said it was fine for me to watch it, because it wasn't what he "thought it was."
That's a great story and glad you and your dad were able to share a laugh together. I took my dad to see Machete kills in 2013, he laughed and talked throughout the entire movie. The only time we ever went to a movie together...RIP DAD.

awesome story about this movie. It was 1989. I was 11 and working at the snack bar of a little mini mall. we were selling fresh baked cookies. One of them was broken in half and one kid asked if he could buy a half for half price. I told him he was acting like “the rib guy from I’m Gonna Git You Sucka” and he started dying of laughter.
