Thank you, this setup is the same for the bayou 4x4 and you saved the unnecessary work of replacing the whole cable and fixing just the end that has the most issues with breaking and thread stripping
My '98 Honda Aero 1100 was experiencing problems because an se valve wasn't seating right - mixing too much air with fuel at acceleration. A friend found the problem for me and temp fixed it while I was @ work. I used your video to school myself on how to replace the parts as I hadn't actually seen it yet on the bike. I feel confident I can do it myself now. Thanks!
Really appreciate you taking the time to record this. I just bought a new brass plunger for my KLR650, and I'm about to attempt installation here in Buenos Aires - this vid is a lifesaver!
Thanks mate. I actually learnt from your misfortune & I connected my choke before the carb was connected to the block while it was free to move into a workable position. Great videos & very helpful. Cheers.
I replaced the plastic plunger on a 98 Kawasaki Bayou 300 4x4 ATV choke cable, and had one helluva time affixing the new one back on the hard metal hook portion of the old cable, ended up destroying the plunger. So I bought a new cable with plunger kit. Pain in the ass.
Same thing just happened to me on my KLR250 after a carb clean, except all the threads on the plastic piece were stripped out when I removed it the first time. I went ahead and ordered the Stead engineering metal replacement, was equally disappointed both at the near $40 (price with shipping) on that part as well as the $17 eBay plastic replacement, but gotta get done...
Long shot question, I noticed you have a Honda sitting beside the KLR, i've got a Shadow VT1100 that i want to take the choke cable off and install a plunger, not one of the cheap plastic ones but a metal one as you used in your thumbnail, do you know what the threads are or if the carbs are similar to the keihin carbs on the hondas?
Arctic cat makes the same exact piece for around $4 usually dealers have it in stock, it's part number 5507-025

Not bad, you made it look easy. Years ago I use to install alarms on Harleys, Brother's would send me their customers.

What do the “S” and “R” signify on the choke
Start and run
All Balls Racing Makes a choke rebuild kit that comes with the plastic part, spring, needle and o-ring for the same price as the plastic bit.
Did that broken piece make it hard to start cold?

Sorry, I don't
My ex500 not engaging choke fully to 3000rpm only 2000, probably the same problem or the rubber spring which I have wore out so leaking a bit air.
Is there any way you could add the part number and do you think that part would be a universal part?
Curious what hand guards you are using. I thought about getting some and like the look of those.
i don't recall the brand name if there even was one associated with them. I got them on ebay many years ago,
So when this happened , part was broken , was the choke fully on? Or fully off?
I don't remember
Whats that plastic piece called and where do I buy it? I just broke mine yesterday
Someone posted a part number in the comments
100
