You don't have to take a driving class at all as long as you can pass the written and practical driving tests. Most private school kids I know were taught by their parents, and studied the (free) drivers manual for their state. However, in my state the license isn't free, there is a $15 fee for a 10-year license. Active service members and veterans can have that noted on their license and receive a lifetime fee waiver.

When I moved to Illinois for a few years they accepted my Kansas License fully, but when I moved back to Kansas I had to take both the written test and the driving test. @@O_SOMEUkrainians_channel In 1990 the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) was passed, setting rules for all new construction and remodels of older public buildings. It includes everything from wheelchair ramps, to automatic doors, to bathroom stalls & sinks, to restaurant seating and height of counters at retail registers, braille in elevators, aisle widths, and many, many more. I've worked on many project teams for new build outs and ADA rules were a major consideration in designing the spaces. Regarding athletes going to college: Different colleges have different academic standards. There are about 30 Division 1A colleges who might accept an athlete with a 2.5 GPA (a C average) or lower, and over a thousand who would not. In other words, athletes have to be at least adequate students in order to earn a scholarship to the colleges with "big" sports programs. If they don't meet the standards, they might still be offered a scholarship to Division II college, or they might go to a community college and try to improve their grades enough to get a scholarship to a college. In general, though, exceptionally good athletes, the ones who are coveted by college programs, will get a LOT of help to get their grades up so they can get a scholarship.

    • @Flexpdx

If you excel in sports in high school you can earn a scholarship to university/college to have tuitions paid. But students do have to maintain a certain grade point average to compete in sports and must maintain their grades or risk losing their scholarship. Some teachers will give athletes a passing grade when they don’t earn it so they can compete, but it’s technically not allowed and can cause problems for the athlete and teacher.

You may not know this, but in the US performing arts and classic arts are available as classes at most high schools, and some middle schools. • @zanymonster
      @zanymonster 5 месяцев назад +1

This is not limited to school. Nowadays even grown adults can't tolerate people that think and sometimes even just look different than they do.
Highschool has always been "clique", but it was more common when I was a kid for the lines between cliques to be blurred for sure. Same thing with our society as a whole now. Our kids are emulating the behavior they observe in the general population, trying to become adults.
Also, bullying needs to be left to the kids to figure out until someone's actually safety is in question. A big part of what has gone wrong for the kids is adults trying to solve all their problems for them. Every generation has always swung the pendulum too hard on issues we want to do better than our parents did on. This is an example of it.

What IS true is that athletes on scholarships get all the extra help they need to get admitted and remain eligible. They still have to do it though. You can't just fail all your classes, and you can't have really bad high school grades and test scores. Some athletes that really struggle academically have to go the "JuCo" (short for junior college) route to become admitable to a major university.
There is a lot of talk about "student athletes" these days. And some schools do have more like athletes that are just doing the absolute minimum to remain eligible with no intention of ever graduating, but the truth is this is a lot less normal than people pretend it is.

Athletes in high school have an easier time going to university. They still have to maintain certain grade point averages and also get a certain minimum on college entrance exams (SAT or ACT, etc). But quite a few star athletes get to go to universities that they couldn't otherwise be accepted at....and get scholarship money to pay for some or all of their expenses. Some of the superstars can actually *make* money attending university.

Re the "right turn on red", she mentions being able to turn right if there are no cars coming from your left. I would add and NO PEDESTRIANS CROSSING in front of your car from your right!! As a pedestrian, I have more often been almost hit in the crosswalk by a driver turning right on red than by any other ped/car situation. As a driver, once traffic is clear on left, I look to the right for pedestrians that may have just stepped off the curb before I step on the gas. It's such a dangerous situation in a congested city, that the city I live in is considering outlawing right turn on red at every intersection.

Yes, we can personalize our license plates. There’s are extra fees (like $35-50) for custom background and custom number. There are dozens of background design choices from schools, to nature scenery, to professions. The actual license plates numbers are a mix of letters and numbers. It’s free for a random number. You can only get 7 characters & it can’t be already taken.
Our schools have sports teams but we have teams that are not affiliated with a particular school, too. My nephew is 15 (he’s 6’3”). He plays basketball for his high school. Many of the rules and fees to pay for a driver's license and/or driver's education classes vary from state to state.
I live in Ohio, and here it is not required to take driver's education classes before taking the test for your license.
But, I did take those classes for about $300, and I found them very helpful. My hometown didn't offer those classes at our school because I grew up in a tiny farm town.
The Ohio license fees are really reasonable! The highest fee to obtain a license for the first time is about $50. When I renewed my license last year, I paid about $55 dollars, and it was only that high of a price because I got it renewed for 8 years instead of the usual 4 years.
    I hope this helps!

Back in 1980, Drivers Ed (as we called it) was an extracuricular class taken during the summer. It was free and to my surprise the driving portion was taught by my drafting teacher. Some of my friends had our auto shop teacher teaching the driving portion and he would regularly direct them to go through a fast food drive-thru to get something to drink. It must've been interesting as most cars, back then, did not have cup holders. I am planning on moving to Arizona and was checking out getting a new custom plate for my Mustang and was surpirsed, not that they offer custom plates, but how many different graphical styles of plates Arizona offers. One of the cool places now offering "drive thru or drive up service" are grocery stores, some offer drive up service while some offer drive-up or delivery. Just order and pay for your groceries on-line, they will give you an approximate time when they will be ready for pickup. When you arrive you just call in to let them know you are there to pickup your groceries.

As a former DMV employee. The general rule throughout all the United States. 16-18 yrs old. Basic drivers Ed usually offered in high school or at least as a summer class through the public school system for free. When it’s time to go to the Dept. Of motor vehicles (DMV) it’s like $50 fee tops fee for you license: that typically get you 5-7 years before you have to renew it. Which really only involves paying that $50 again. Unless your in California they have to take a knowledge exam like 10-15 questions to make sure you updated on any new traffic rules every 10 years or so.

Instead they cook them up and sell them for a cheap price. They're probably not making money on them, but losing less than if they had to be trashed. I've had them before (from Kroger, not Costco) and they're pretty good. This is an excellent way of reducing food waste.

Yes. You can definitely purchase customized plates and they can vary from state to state. They do cost more than the standard license plates but if the plate is to support a charity (like a nature preservation program) the design will have their logo or special design on it and part of the extra money they charge you goes to support that organization.
Driver's licenses do cost money once you're out of high school. Costs, designs, and renewal times vary by state. Where I grew up in Tennessee we had to renew every 8 years, it cost $30, and, before I moved out of state, you could renew online, at the DMV office counter with a clerk, or on a walk up self service kiosk at the DMV office.
There is also no highway, wheel, yearly vehicle, or road taxes to pay in Tennessee either. All taxes for the car are paid for at the point of sale and that is that. Vehicle related taxes and drivers license renewals don't work that way in my new state of residence though (Kentucky). Each state varies to some extent in how they handle things.

However, if a student starts struggling too much in classes, that scholarship money can be taken away, and they will have to pay for college by themselves. Colleges don't necessarily expect athletes to be the best in their classes, but athletes are still expected to do well.

There are 3 different tours of players on Illinois. 1) random player assigned by the state 2) personalized, you get to choose a combination of up to 4 letters and 3 numbers and finally 3) vanity plates which are just words up to 7 letters. I have headache and high blood pressure medication. When my doctor prescribes a medication he sends it to the pharmacy, in the grocery at which I shop, I just picked up a re-fill today on my way home from church. When I need a prescription renewed I just sent an e-mail to my doctor and he renews it and sends it to the pharmacy.
I remember growing up, when one of my school's sports team would win a championship, I went to a regional high schools with 5 towns, as the team bus and the spectators went through each respective town, they would get an escort by the police and fire department. My parents and neighbors would make banners congratulating the team and we would stand at the side of the road with the banner as they drove by.
A driver's license, at least in New Hampshire is not free. It costs me $50 every 5 years to renew my license. I am not complaining at $50 is cheap.
A personalized license plate or as it's commonly known, a vanity plate, is very common. Generally, you do have to pay an additional fee to get a vanity plate they are very common. I have my initials on mine. The nice thing about a vanity plate is that you don't have worry about memorizing your plate number.
