Those first few words Marc read from the book brought a tear to my eye, this was when Nickelodeon had creative potential. It just saddens me that Nick decided to do 6 hour marathons of SpongeBob instead of game shows, and variety shows. RIP Creative Nickelodeon! it was a great run.
Marc Summers was a role model and icon for me growing up. I came within inches of him during a live tour but never got to meet him because I was too young at the time to be on the show. By the time I was old enough, Double Dare was canceled and my dreams were dashed. If I had known about this event, I would have dropped everything and been there in seconds. Glad to see this event took place and those involved had the time of their life.
What I learned from this is that Marc Summers is a mostly unhinged corporate liability. I have so much new respect for him. Go Marc! PS Wish there was a real Pete & Pete segment.
I would love to meet Mark Summers that would be a kid's dream come true for me. I remember Wild and Crazy kids were in town when I was a kid and really wanted to go but couldn't :(
For all of us who were born in the early to later 80s, we got to witness the glory days of Nickelodeon as it happened. All I know about modern-day Nickelodeon is that it has gone the way of MTV, it's a shadow of it's former glory, and the abandoned Nick Studios in Florida is proof of that. Modern day Nick slime doesn't even look the same...The original slime had an "oatmeal" type consistency...The new slime is syrupy looking.
They've changed the recipe for slime over the years. But slime remains edible. The reason slime is edible, is because you can't trust kids not to put things in their mouth. And since slime is edible, it has to be refrigerated, making it cold. And since slime is cold, you always get that shocked reaction when you get slimed, which is great for the camera. The reason it's green is because of green food coloring.
Throughout my life I had a learning disability having low vision and comprehension being an albino, growing up watching Nickelodeon's Double Dare made me appreciate TV game shows that I use to watch as a child.
Thank you for sharing! I was actually at the Touring Double Dare @ the Palace of Auburn Hills Marc Summers referred to, wow, way back in the day...good times!
Don't know whether to cry or applaud or what. I miss these days of cartoons so much I cant stand it. I sinceraly believe it worked because it was a different time where people were not bogged down with offending folks and they could be creative to the point of being themselves and have FUN, something seriously lacking in tv today. They actualy cared about kids, and taught us lessons and morals that was actualy useful, another thing seriously lacking, they were not vulgar and filthy and the humor was worlds apart from todays, they didn't have to rely on sexual humor curse words and jestures. TV will never be the same as this generation of cartoons, Im just glad I was apart of it while it was around, thank you for my childhood guys, you saw me through my fair share of things, you taught me some good morals and for that I am forever grateful, in an era where tv did more than entertain, you CARED ABOUT US 80s and 90s kids, THANK YOU.
Out of the 80s Double Dare crue, Mark and Robben are my favorites. I love their voices and how funny mark is! I heard him as Elvis in another RUclips and I think he is a good singer. I love how loud and fun Robben is and how she interacts with Mark, Harvey, and on Nickelodeon Allstar Challenge, the contestants.
It's nice to see the Double Dare gang reunite again but where's Chris Miles and Jamie Bojanowski or Dave Shikiar, whatever happened to Susan and Constance from the 1st season of Double Dare?
It was really cool to see a double dare reunion in 2013. I honestly thought Robin Marella was absolutely gorgeous back in the days, and she looks the same and has aged beautifully. There was one person missing, whatever happened to Dave Shikiar? He is the only one not there.
You know... I wonder if the corporate neck ties at Nickelodeon even read/see or learn of the comments below from those of us that watched these shows as kids. What ever happened to the shows of kids just being kids? Most everything that is produced today is either over-produced or just plain inappropriate for the age group that it targets. To those execs mentioned in the first sentence, don't let those ties get too tight or yes, you will be television history as an entire channel. Bring back the creative freedom that Double Dare brought to TV... definitely NOT SpongeBob.
if you do a youtube search, you can find a similar thing the cast of rocko did a year or so ago as well , and they did a live reading of the wacky delly episode in their "party"
Nick classics should be a channel I and many like me would pay to have and unless they produce documentaries they already own the programing..tvland works a RUclips channel would have millions of subs and sponsors would fight gladiator style for the ad time...it not existing in some form is squandersome and wastefulness personified to me...also I hate missing out on it...and missing it
1:12:00 - 1:12:42 Hahahahahaha, imagine trying to explain that off nowadays - parents would probably freak even with the announcer trying to play it off, etc.... hehehe
Except for maybe Sam & Cat, TMNT, . Nick is currently at it's worst period. Haunded Hathaways, The Thundermans, Sonjay and Craig, are all terrible. I mean awful. And there's way too much Spongebob. They don't need to show him 50 times a day. I would rather see reruns of classic Nick shows.
I've always wanted an original "Wild & Crazy Kids" shirt. I often look for original examples on ebay but no luck. I know they must have made thousands of those shirts in every color of the rainbow during W&CK run...Surely there must be surviving examples....I'd even settle for a replica, after all they make Legends of the Hidden Temple reissues.
I time stamped this when I was in the awful captivity of an abusive relationship. I'm so happy I did. I love this song and I am so grateful to be alive.
I was kind of disappointed to hear about what they said about Melissa being pretty surly when not on camera. I really like her and she seems nice from the interviews that she's done but that could just be for the cameras as well. Hopefully she got more personable as she got older. Also, I wonder if anyone goes up to Syd and asks her why?
Jessica gaynes : holding onto her bo Katan helmet the only question I got to ask before the 30 years ends where r Omar n Donnie I really wonder about those goofballs hehe how the time flies smiles
I've met Billy West!. He is a lovely person. He has a great sense of humour. He even did Doug and Roger's voices for me!.
They had a full channel devoted to game shows for nearly a decade. They really had a great tribute to it.
Executives. They killed the network and they killed all the other good shows from back in the day
Stephen Hillenburg himself wanted SpongeBob to end after its first movie, to see the character be the face of the channel is so upsetting.
@@Benjamillion is that why he left the show and then came back
@@terrenceharris-hughes4436 Pretty much, yeah.

Good god... Marc Summers was one of the absolute legends of that golden period. Childhood!!

I was wondering what you meant, and then he started talking about Robin.

I came for "Double Dare", but I stayed for the legendary Fred "Mouth Sounds" Newman
Throughout my life I had a learning disability having low vision and comprehension being an albino, growing up watching Nickelodeon's Double Dare made me appreciate TV game shows that I use to watch as a child.
I was there and at the pre show party and it was a childhood dream come true.
And now I'm teary eyed. Thanks for the upload!!
I hadn't planned to spend three hours on RUclips today... but I just did. That was amazing. Thank you!
Wow, this was on my birthday! If I were there, it would've been the ultimate present! Oh well, thanks for uploading, 92nd Street Y.

Amen
1man1epictv AMEN.
I would love to see the cast and crew behind All That, Kenan and Kel, Catdog, Hey Arnold, Rugrats and Rocko
My favorite from Doug was "Think Big(banging on the Trash Can)".
mine too
Me too! I wanted them to play it so bad! But seeing them forget Killer Tofu on stage was heartbreaking.
My aunt Robyn Ross was in a show call Fifteen on Nickelodeon 23 years ago!!!
Unfortunately, the story ended. ;)
I came in 20 minutes late to this, but I wouldn't trade the experience for the world!
your mouth is huge
Thanks for uploading! Revisiting my childhood. Cool to know I am the same age as Mark Summers kids.
This would have been a dream come true to get to attend!
Thanks for uploading this for the world to see! Such fun memories!
I would vote for Marc Summers if he ran for president.
That's my childhood right there! Great show, but who was the woman with the dog?
1:20:05 holy shit thats awesome
Man Jessica Gaines is still smoking hot!
I would love to have seen a are u afraid of the dark? Panel :(
seeing marc summers old is very sad to me, time has gone by

...not gonna lie. I had a lil crush on her myself. lol
I know right, she looks good. I wonder where Dave Shikiar was, he was absent.

I wish they would have mentioned the song happy happy joy joy
I know this comment is way past late, but I wish Alan J Higgins and Steve Higgins was there with the Doug cast, Jim, Billy, Becca, Fred and Constance.
1:12:00 - 1:12:42
Hahahahahaha, imagine trying to explain that off nowadays - parents would probably freak even with the announcer trying to play it off, etc.... hehehe
12:50 It's pretty depressing that they couldn't have John K himself there :/
Anyone catch the Double Dare reboot this week?!
The only good thing about Nick, the way *I* see it, is _The Backyardigans_ and _Ni Hao, Kai-Lan_.
Um Legend of Cora says hi. That is a good show as well.
well at least they dont have ben 10 hour 3 times a day
I'd much rather see reruns of Turkey Television from 1985
Agreed. Haunted Hathaways, Supah Ninjas, Bella and the bulldogs had potential but wasn't memorable. Maybe it's the writing
But I wanna hear the voices of Ren & Stimpy sing "Happy Happy Joy Joy".
Jessica Gaynes was the best one there.
I've always wanted an original "Wild & Crazy Kids" shirt. I often look for original examples on ebay but no luck. ***** Never mind, I found some reissues.
I didn't Jinkins also created PB&J otter
Nick Nick Nick Nick Nick Nick Nick Nick. .Nickelodean
It's "De-ON."
I would like to see Legends of the hidden temple panel
Same here and Guts, as well.
Why Judy from Pete & Pete didn't show up?
2:14:14 I time stamped this for myself, and it's also there for anyone who loves amazing songs.
I time stamped this when I was in the awful captivity of an abusive relationship. I'm so happy I did. I love this song and I am so grateful to be alive.
Just a question, why didn't they have the Rugrats team on this
Shoutout! 1:07:31
Jessica gaynes was still the best actress for bo Katan from star wars the clone wars n rebels
I was kind of disappointed to hear about what they said about Melissa being pretty surly when not on camera. 1:44:04 That's why I'm here.
1:13:38 - 1:14:04, Lmfao 🤣😂😁
@1:33:40
Yikes, I remember Patti in Weekend at Bernie's 2 and yikes...drugs are not your friend.
Would of been good. I youtubed it on TiVo but the sound quality is terrible. They didn't speak into their mics ever. How unprofessional
2:19:16 - 2:19:29 LOL!
I wish it was back to the way it was before this crap like Spongebob came on -_-
Once again, nothing about Fifteen
They all held their mics so far from their mouth. They should have known better. It's too bad.
