There is always a space after the comma. Adding those commas by hand in the examples is not clear about that. Omitting that space after the comma before the second quotation mark may be an examption to the rule.
I LOVE your channel! Your explanations are clear, concise, and easy to get! I got a 20/20 in the quiz thanks to your eight very clear rules. Thank you!!
This popped up as I was getting today's first cup of coffee. I'm surprised I remember so many rules from previous videos. Thank you for starting my day and month off with such a great video!
Luckily, I got twenty out of twenty. Thank you so much for this quiz; I would really like to see more quizes on your marvelous channel! Best regards from Ukraine. Keep it up, jennifer!
Thank you for the quiz task. It was extremely helpful, and I had learnt how to use comma properly in 8 different ways because of you! I also gained 18/2 but hey, it is not as bad as I thought! ❤
Thank you so much teacher ,,I really liked the Quiz ☺️ I got 18/20 A small note : ...and had lunch at a new restaurant : it 's not a dependent clause ..it 's not even a clause ,it 's a phrase ..I mean that's the reason why we don't make comma . Thanks again miss 😊
Quick question. What does the sentence "Mrs Shaw undertook to keep her sister-in-law in due restraint, when she returned home" indicate? Who does the "She" In the quotations refer to? Also, if there was no comma after the word "restraint," how would it have changed the meaning of the sentence? Thanks in advance.
Are you sure in number 19, “, but had lunch at a new restaurant” is a dependent clause? I think it isn’t. I may be wrong though, but there’s no subject in it. A clause needs a subject. 16:31 16
Mom bought cake, ice cream; decorations, and balloons for my party. "Ice cream" is a word so i used semi comma other wise they may thought: my mom both ice and cream. Right ? ☹️
You only use one comma after "cream". If Mom was buying both ice AND cream, there would be a comma between ice and cream. Compare these sentences: Mom bought cake, ice cream, decorations, and balloons for my party. VS Mom bought cake, ice, cream, decorations, and balloons for my party. The comma makes it easy to see that we mean "ice cream" and not ice and cream. I hope that makes sense!

You only use one comma after "cream". If Mom was buying both ice AND cream, there would be a comma between ice and cream. Compare these sentences:

The comma makes it easy to see that we mean "ice cream" and not ice and cream. I hope that makes sense!
