This ending is the one most of us wanted to happen, but the truth is that the real one, was way more powerful, don't you wait for tomorrow and second chances, once you have the one, catch and don't let it go, poor Dawson had only a few months of happiness among of years of crappy life, but the life gave the chance of being happy and he dropped it... yeah I know it could be unfair, and that the moral of all could be that some people are born with a purpose in life and that's it, but that seems even more unfair for the poor Dawson, so I choose my understanding.
The moral might be "Don't waste the opportunities you have been given. How many have met the love of their life but turned away never to see them again?"
The first time I was with my love was 25 years ago, were together a few years, fell apart, broke each others hearts....family got in our way.. We haven't seen each other in 20 years. We are back together again and our love is stronger than ever. We will be getting married some time soon.

I walked out on the original ending... by the time the phone rang for her I was getting my stuff together and leaving because I was pissed. James Marsden is an amazing actor and for once I didn't want him to play the guy that got left for another guy or killed. I wanted him to get the girl... I woulda stayed for this ending. @@TankingTrucker, I don't think there was anything cheesy about the ending and the heart transplant. The happy endings are the norm actually, so this was something you don't get every day in a movie. It was heartbreaking but powerful and had a message, you just need to be able to understand it.

I seen this movie a few years ago, and I been watching the regular ending over & over again this is the best romance movie I have ever seen I ordered it off eBay yesterday for $5.99 & it was a blue ray disc even though I do not own a HD tv just the very first flat screen that I bought in June of 2013 but it’s an amazingly beautiful movie about two people who fell in love, went their separate ways & reconnected later in life..

Oh my god thank you thank you SOOO MUCH for this video. I couldn't stop crying while watching the movie and in the end I couldn't help but wonder what could have been if they had a second chance. Now I can finally be happy knowing that they did end up together. I got to see how happy they were to end up with each other like they were always supposed to do! As someone loves the book, I prefer the original ending and I'm surprised so many others loved this one! I mean it was the whole title of the book, Dawson gave Amanda the best of him, his heart. Her son was able to live and continue life happily. Everyone should know by now going into Nicholas Sparks films there will be drama and tears which I kind of love. Everyone needs a good cry and a chance to appreciate what they got :)

That is very true, but i will say that i do think that the other ending was the perfect way to end the story, it was the way the book ended and i think it showed the true meaning of loving someone with all your heart! Oh I agree... I read the book, I love that they don't stick to perfection and a fairy tale ending... But at the end of it all we do have normal lifes that we lead and everyday struggles and stress.. I really love this film but the only part that breaks my heart is,when they killed Dawson.it is unfair that they both did not keep their promise and fulfilled their promise. Amanda and Dawson should be happy after the ending because that film was titled by the best of Dawson and Amanda.I was in great tears because the ending isn't happy but in tears.I think this is not the right way of an ending but I love the story so much.

A nice relief :) The original/book are fantastic but sometimes it's nice to finish on a high note. I love Nicholas Sparks but he's really got to stop killing off his characters!
Loved the alternate ending. The Best of Me for both of them so fits this ending since they found young love, lost it for 20 years, and rekindled that love that was never lost between them and brought out the best in each other's life. Definitely, the movie should end this way.

This is the right ending for their story, it was perfect from the beginning to this ending. We don't need to have movies only for the ending drama, because it will get better sold. Sometimes is nice to show that even after 20years they do not regret anything and should not be afraid of new start.

I was separated from the love of my life because of my family with lies and treats and after 20 years we find each other again and we both still love each other the same way , we never find the same love with nobody else and we want to spend the rest of our life together but for now we are different countries and it might take some time but I have faith that life will give us time so we will make our dreams and our love a reality once again , and this time stay together until the end ... sorry I told you all this but I couldn't help to share this ... and I saw the movie yesterday and I was so depressed with the ending but with this it give me back hope ! Im so glad there was an alternate ending because i watched the original last night for the first time and i balled my eyes out!!! I think this ending for me is perfect but it would have been predictable in the theater and wasnt sparks version either. But glad they made one!!!!!

As someone loves the book, I prefer the original ending and I'm surprised so many others loved this one! I mean it was the whole title of the book, Dawson gave Amanda the best of him, his heart. Her son was able to live and continue life happily. Everyone should know by now going into Nicholas Sparks films there will be drama and tears which I kind of love. Everyone needs a good cry and a chance to appreciate what they got :)
we all know how nicholas sparks books end..however we still want to see a happy ending to wonderful love story somehow! i have a collections of NS books and i love it all! but after reading it and cry! you will still long for a happy ending!
just saw this movie last night... and i love it. So I decided to watch it again this morning same chanel but I was totally shock when the ending was different. So I thought I dreamt of the happy ending last night. Now I know their was an alternate ending to this movie. I love this ending instead. The other one was heartbreaking and so unfair

I prefer the sad ending because like, every romance always have like a happy ending to it, then it wouldn't leave an impact. I kinda like how it is sad n the fact that I cried 12 times in the movie HAHA WORLD RECORD JKJK. but hey, this version is cute too, so sweet and all n he is hot n she is gorgeous. but still, I'll prefer the sad ending. thanks for the upload man! never knew there was an alternative ending!!

One of my favorite movies...
If I only knew the original ending it wouldn't be... But I have only seen that ending one time out of the thousand times I have watched this movie... So this ended is the real ending for me... It is hard wired into my brain this way I can honestly say I dont fully remember the other ending nor do I care to. Haha
That is very true, but i will say that i do think that the other ending was the perfect way to end the story, it was the way the book ended and i think it showed the true meaning of loving someone with all your heart! Although i do wish this was the ending im glad that it wasnt because it shows that life isnt perfect but that doesnt mean you wont always love that person and love dawsons heart is in her son!!
Oh I agree... I read the book, I love that they don't stick to perfection and a fairy tale ending... But at the end of it all we do have normal lifes that we lead and everyday struggles and stress.. When I watch a movie its nice to have that "get away from it all feeling" so thats why I choose this ending when I watch it. 😊

I really love this film but the only part that breaks my heart is,when they killed Dawson.it is unfair that they both did not keep their promise and fulfilled their promise. Amanda and Dawson should be happy after the ending because that film was titled by the best of Dawson and Amanda.I was in great tears because the ending isn't happy but in tears.I think this is not the right way of an ending but I love the story so much.

I never watched the movie again after the first time I watched it and I couldn't remember why and when I re watched it I realized it was because of the ending they used I'm so glad and at peace after watching this ending thank you 😭😭😭😭😭
A nice relief :) The original/book are fantastic but sometimes it's nice to finish on a high note. I love Nicholas Sparks but he's really got to stop killing off his characters!

Loved the alternate ending. The Best of Me for both of them so fits this ending since they found young love, lost it for 20 years, and rekindled that love that was never lost between them and brought out the best in each other's life. Definitely, the movie should end this way.

I think it makes you realize that life isn't like a fairytale, like most movies and books make it out to be. Real life is full of hardships. Makes you appreciate the one you are living. It is nice to know that there are other options to see characters you grow to love having a happy ending. Haha.
This is the right ending for their story, it was perfect from the beginning to this ending. We don't need to have movies only for the ending drama, because it will get better sold. Sometimes is nice to show that even after 20years they do not regret anything and should not be afraid of new start.

I Love this ending , specially because I am living something similar right now .. I was separated from the love of my life because of my family with lies and treats and after 20 years we find each other again and we both still love each other the same way , we never find the same love with nobody else and we want to spend the rest of our life together but for now we are different countries and it might take some time but I have faith that life will give us time so we will make our dreams and our love a reality once again , and this time stay together until the end ... sorry I told you all this but I couldn't help to share this ... and I saw the movie yesterday and I was so depressed with the ending but with this it give me back hope ! Im so glad there was an alternate ending because i watched the original last night for the first time and i balled my eyes out!!! I think this ending for me is perfect but it would have been predictable in the theater and wasnt sparks version either. But glad they made one!!!!!

Thanks for posting this - I just watched the film online and was very irritated by the ridiculously lachrymose ending (Sparks at his worst!). This cliched happy version was much better suited to a light weight story!
I can't be More agree with u, for some reason Nicolas Sparks likes the drama too much, i mean, Amanda suffered as hell in the other finale and That's make the movie ridiculously annoying and all the Heart donnation drama Seems soooo unreal, too much onion tears for my taste
